PFS Character re-builds

Pathfinder Society

Sovereign Court 5/5

I remember reading in a PFS resource that you can rebuild your character- excepting that the name, race, and faction had to stay the same on any given character number. It expressly gave the example of building as a new class for a session.

However I'm not sure where I read it as I can't find it again. Is it still legal to do?

And if so, is it legal to rebuild as the same class, for example just switching skill points around, and or picking new stats, feats, etc?

Nope - rebuilding is only allowed if one of your feats or class features has been errata'ed or changed.

If you have not played your character since Season 0 -- back when Pathfinder Society was using the D&D 3.5 ruleset -- you can rebuild your character once.

Details here.

Scarab Sages 4/5 5/55/55/5 *** Venture-Captain, Australia—NSW—Greater West

you are probably thinking of the rebuilding from season 0 (3.5ed) to season 1 (PFRPG). It was similiar to what you are talking of, but is only relevant for the update from 3.5ed to PFRPG. Otherwise....see above.

You also can rebuild level 1 pregens you played once and got credit for.

Not that I doubt you, Dragonmoon, but could you cite that?

At GenCon, I had several new players use the pre-gen characters, and they were under the impression that they would have to keep the character as is, in order to apply credit from the adventure.

No problem Chris.

If you play a 1st-level pregenerated character, you can even apply the credit for its first adventure to a newly created character of your very own.

Well, that is something brand new. Before, you basically picked your traits and a Faction, changed the name and called the character your own. I do not think you previously could even fix the stats if you were using one of the pregens that was accidentally made with the 15 point build. This must be because of the new Tier One stuff that can be replayed for credit with multiple characters.

Josh gave a little more leeway then that in the forums, but it never made it into the guide until now.

Oh derp. Would have been nice to know that a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, they used custom-made pregens, so I guess it's okay.

Thanks, Dragnmoon. I missed that one. I don't remember it being on the boards before, but I know it was always an option with Josh.
