Making a PbP Chapter "official"

Pathfinder Society

Over on Myth Weavers, a highly active PbP site, I've taken it upon myself to organize a PFS chapter. Random GMs have offered PFS scenarios once in a while over the years, but the site has never attempted to regulate and promote PFS activity.

I've named myself Venture-Captain, and already recruited a stable of willing GMs and a sizable player pool, all of whom are registered here with Paizo and the Society. Is there anything I need to do to make the chapter "official" with Paizo? What about naming myself Venture-Captain? Is that kosher, or do I need to get approval from Paizo?

I just want to make this as legit as possible, so if anyone can give me a heads up, that'd be great.

And of course, I encourage all of you to check out game ad and join up!

There's nothing you need to do to make yourself official, as long as you're creating the events in the reporting system, reporting them when they're complete, and distributing signed Chronicle sheets (either scanned or via snail mail) to all players after a scenario's conclusion.

As for calling yourself "venture-captain," no one can stop you from using the title, but unless you've actually applied for the position and been granted the extra responsibility from Paizo, it's a name you give yourself and does not grant you any additional privileges or responsibilities with regard to regional coordination. In the spirit of respecting those who actually hold the title of venture-captain and to eliminate undue confusion among your players, who may assume you are an official venture-captain, I'd suggest using a different title. We currently have no online venture-captains, though many of our regional coordinators have been active in online games through the Pathfinder Society Online Collective.

Fair enough. I'll adjust things accordingly over on my end. Thanks for the info, Mark.
