Weapon attack bonus

Rules Questions

I'm new to Pathfinder but not new to RPG's. I was playing AD&D back in the day and am now introducing my kids to Pathfinder. I'm having troubles finding the weapon attack bonus. I understand the base attack bonus but can't seem the find the attack bonus for specific weapons. It's been about 20 yrs sense I last played and I'm a little rusty. It's starting to come back but there are a few gaps in what I remember. I purchased the rules but can't find where it tells how to figure what the attack bonus on specific weapons are. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Weapons don't inherently give you a bonus on your attack roll.

A masterwork weapon (which costs an extra 300gp) grants you a +1 enhancement bonus to attack rolls with that weapon. A magically enhanced weapon can increase this enhancement bonus (and also add it to damage).

But that's it. Aside from that, weapons don't directly affect your attack roll - rather, they determine what dice you roll for damage (1d8 for a longsword, for instance) and sometimes have other properties as described in the equipment chapter.

Your attack bonus for any given weapon is:

melee weapon - BAB + Str + magic (spells, enhancements) + size + misc (feats, flanking, special abilities such as favored enemy or smite)

Ranged Weapon - BAB + Dex + magic + size + misc

Weapon finesse allows use of Dex mod for all light one handed weapons or weapons with the finesse descriptor (such as a rapier or spiked chain) instead of the Str mod.

Feats, focus, and specialization can be tied to specific weapon types though. such as Weapon Focus (Longsword)
