Kilij

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Ok, after watching the Deadliest Warrior with Vlad the Impalier vs Sun-Tzu, I want a Kilij for my character. The guy cuts a pig in half with one hand and one swing. Is there a Kilij for Pathfinder in a book, and if so is it society legal.Even if not still would use it in my home game.

It's somewhere between a long sword and a scimitar. A one-handed, curved sword that looks a lot like a saber. I'd think you could go with either of those martial weapon stats or, if you want a bump, call it an exotic weapon and use the Falcata stats.

For a curved one-handed blade, I'd most likely go with a scimitar and call it a day. At the end of it all damage levels are basically an abstraction, and the quality of the weapon (especially any enhancement bonuses) and strength and skill of the user determine the effects. At some point, you need some abstraction, otherwise you will get swarmed with all the different names and types of curved blades that existed in the world.

But seriously, Vlad the Impaler vs Sun Tzu, WTF? What's next, Skenderbeg vs General Patton?

Dark Archive

actually I'd use the Elven Curve Blade stats for one.

2 hand, d10, crit 18-20.

or even martial a katana (martial 2 hand, exotic 1 hand d8, 18-20x2)

IMO, as a guy whose trained with these weapons (except the curve blade that is) a kilij isn't as precise as a scimitar but carries crazy momentum. Also the curve makes it a bit more challenging to strike past a solid defense.

I'd say d10 maybe even d12 damage, exotic, crit X3 (range 19-20 at best)

You realize that his sword attack on a pig carcass would be a coup de gras action within the Pathfinder rules, so rather a lot of pathfinder swords would be that effective, right?

I'm leaning towards refluffing an existing weapon to fit the role, like a scimitar or katana. Katana sounds like it'd be a better fit -- after all, a coup de grace would invoke its 'Deadly' effect even if used without proficiency, right?

I agree with the opinion that a longsword or scimitar would do it... at worst refluff the falcata... but the ECB is really going overboard, plus the kilic is a one handed sword.... basically, it's an ordinary scimitar, barely heavier than average.

>.> thread necro guys.

But an interesting one; it's basically a talwar, which is what we'd call a scimitar in western countries.
