Need some non-mounted cavalier love

Why can't thier be an alternative class or archtypes to change the cavaliers reliance on a mount, I mean I really liked the Hound Master it made sense, any one else want to see something like that for the offical rules i know I would. and please pardon any grammar and spelling errors

The cavalier is, by definition, a mounted class. Get rid of the mount dependency and it changes everything about what and who the class is supposed to be.
To each his own.

I have to agree. I like the class mechanics, but mounts just tend to not work well in many, many games (including many adventure paths). As a result I think the class suffers from a "I am really cool if just the right condition shows up... the rest of the time I just talk about how cool I would be if..."

This is less of a problem for small cavaliers.

I was under the impression there was a mount-free archetype in Ultimate Combat.
