You can do army building later, once you own a Barracks as per rules here.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Urgh! So why is this website being so awful?
Still around. Just taking a backseat to the whole building stuff argument. I had a feeling this would be a troublesome effort which is one of the many reasons I elected to remove one cook (myself) from the proverbial kitchen.
Enjoy!
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
Aron, just to be clear; those are different rules from the Book of River Nations, right?
I find them a lot more interesting and reasonable. Per the normal rules you spend A LOT maintaining an army for no real benefit.
Can we assume Jameson is training people and could muster a small contingent of soldiers that doesn't constitute an army per se? Like 20 people or something to patrol the roads, etc.
Jameson Addercop IV |
Hmmm...armies be tricky beasties. Looks like w/o a Barracks we could raise a Small or smaller army, Small being 50 troops. They would have to be base CR of 2 in order to actually form an army, though if they're mounted you count the higher CR of the mount or rider. After that it gets...interesting. Looks like I'll be needing points in Profession (Soldier).

I like the name Evergreen for the capital! It has a nice ring to it!
See, even the stuffy mage likes the name because it makes him want to buy a ring. I tell you, it is the color of money.
On another note - the only person to not vote is Mr. Greenfingers our druid.
Carina Stigard |
Yeah sure whatever. *goes back to building letter bombs in his wilderness shack*
Cool, I did not realize that Letter Bombs were one of the Crazed Hermit archetypes bonuses. Too bad "Post Office" is not one of the building options.
DM Aron Marczylo |
not checked the book of the river nations concerning armys. Will look it over for consideration.
also I'm with Ganit, I'm hating the messed up sight. I have no idea if people have posted as all I have are new posts. I only assumed people had cause discussion was at 20 something now it's at 31 new messages for me.
Carina Stigard |
To clear the (x new) flag, click on the link for the thread, NOT the (x new) link. Click on "Gameplay" or "Discussion" and then just scroll down to the new posts. This should get rid of the (x new). If you post something, it will appear as a new (x new) requiring you to exit the thread and then go back in to clear it.

I'm not sure what your native drink would be so I'll pour a glass of whiskey in your honor. Tell your mother a stranger from the internet said "congratulations for the the work you performed 27 years ago today."
DM Aron Marczylo |
A tavern is just a little bit more respectable. People need a place to gather, socialize, and perform. That is civilized!
You clearly havn't seen the tavern in the game I'm in, Adventure of the Lost Tomes...Things there are a lot less respectable and...civilised.
DM Aron Marczylo |
How about we wait two or three months and then build an Arena so that we can have gladiator battles.
You could name is thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leaves.
Sorry, sorry I should get "beyond" thunderdome.
Now I felt a disturbance in the force. As if a thousand people just gave out a groan at my bad joke and then were suddenly silenced.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Have a drink on me folks! As of moment I'm officially 27 years old! And only slightly hammered!
odd, didn't think you were so close to my age as often Alex says how most people on here have been roleplaying since the 80s or before :p
Better than me on the drinking side, I rarely drink, even socially.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
One of the common taverns in my RL games was called "The Chunderdome".
I'm always surprised to find players closer to my age as well. A lot of folks here will talk about ad&d or playing in the late 70's and I think to myself: I was born in 1988...
I did end up having that beer for you Bronwyn. Lucky coincidence.
Carina Stigard |
In '88 I had been playing for about 7 years I think. I believe I started in '81 or thereabouts. First game was the Keep on the Borderlands.
And for the Arena, I was thinking of political opponents and trolls. The trolls should regenerate which will keep costs down. And there are always an endless supply of political opponents waiting to be thrown into a pit of doom.

I think that myself, only with 87. Makes me feel young, which is good opposed to when I see my nephews and they call me "Uncle Aron" which makes me feel like I'm double my age.

Chief Sootscales would approve. His hiarachy was always a "Strongest leads" so he has no problem with that. Plus he'd enjoy seeing some bloodsports.

Sorry, yeh, American Football. Chicago Bears versus the Carolina Panthers. It was a great finish with the Bears scoring at the very end to win.
I heard, my dad was watching the match. He likes american football for some reason. Said that the Panthers appeared to be winning at first, but then the Bears got the upper hand.
Carina Stigard |
The Bears were terrible in the first half - they are the home team here in Chicago. Then they came to life in the second half and got a lot of luck to pull it out at the very end.
Now to figure out what to post in the IC.

Haha! It sounds like we're playing the same game, Jameson.
I can see Ganit's reaction though:
"O... Well she's your problem now. See-ya-later-bye!" [*smoke bomb => Stealth check*]

lol, would've definantly been interesting. Will have to keep plotting from my mighty DM throne made from bone, gold and rubies!

Your throne is rubbed with goldbond? Hmmm, I hope I misread that.

It's real funny to see Delilah chasing Jameson. Feels like watching a Benny Hill sketch.

she might as well give up. He seems too stuck in his ways to enjoy life :)
DM Aron Marczylo |
He enjoys his life as it is. :D
*shrugs* can't fault him for that. Would be interesting if he had a family just to see what ideals he'd bring up the child and not to mention the many ideas I have associated with it, but I can't force your character into something they're not interested in, otherwise it wouldn't make the game any fun.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Also sorry I've been a bit silent. Things have been a little busy recently with the job centre wanting to see me every other day, having my lover over on the weekend and then starting my work experience today.
DM Aron Marczylo |
lol again, sorry i've been busy but I'm on the work experience. It's only 5 hours long, but whenever I get home I just end up wanting to play games and stuff, you know?
Plus I recently got back into Kotor too. Not completed it yet and Kotor 2 is still sealed.

He's ALIVE!!!!!!!
Normally I'm this:
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
Nowadays i'm this:
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
