Here are the noble families: Garess, Lebeda, Lodovka, Medvyed, Orlovsky, and Surtova. I am going to say the country is most likely Russian with a Baltic tilt. There is a Mount Veshka(russian sounding), New Stetven (germanic), Silverhall(english), Lake Reykal(russian), Restov (russian), Rostland Plains (russian/english).
Your call - or just go with a good made up name like I posted in my previous post.

I believe Alex did say it was based on medival russia or something like that so your pretty accurate with the assessment though really you can name your country whatever you like. For all I or Restov cares you could name it R'lyeh or Dunwich, but might risk bringing an Elder God into Golarian, lol.

Because it is the future.
Something tells me someone has been watching the new "Day of the Triffids" series.

The gateway to our realm should be marked with a Yellow Sign.

Not sure about the Yellow Sign, but we need to make sure that people turn right at the fork in the road. And it has a yellow bird as big as a sign, perhaps that can be Zorestar's new familiar when Telias' bird eats Zorestar's.

How about dale? Greendale, it's almost a real kingdom! (yes I'm a Community nerd, get over it).
Greendale has a nice ring to it too. I've never actually sat down for a full episode of Community, I've only seen the end bits when it came on before Parks and Recreation
Zorestar Lebeda |
We are getting close to a name for our country, but I don't think we are there yet.
Bron, I like Greendale, but I don't think it sounds big enough for a country.
Carina, Sylverde is much better than Greensylvania.
Gbajcratz is clever, but it doesn't have that catchy ring to it.
Here is a brainstormed list of variations on the theme of green.
Greenmont
Vertagistan
Verdoxbourg
Vertanu
Montvert
Montvertland
Vertaria
Please let me know if any of these sound good to you. I particularly like the last two.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
So what's the list of supplies we need from Restov?
Bronwyn Headband of Alluring Charisma +2 4000g
Carina Headband of Alluring Charisma +2 4000g
Ganit Efficient Quiver 1800g
Jameson Various Enchantments ?
Telias ???
Zorestar ???
The quiver is the only thing I can think of that's worth the gold I have at the moment (although I have been thinking of some sinister plans with a Necklace of Fireballs and a Slow Burn Arrow that probably won't work the way I want it to).
It takes a day for each 1000g to enchant an item so we'll be up there for a day or two depending on if people want their weapons boosted. We probably don't want to spend a whole lot of gold up there since we should be thinking of the fledgling kingdom's economy now more than ever.
Carina Stigard |
My understanding is that putting gold into the country is bad and withdrawing money is very bad. Plus, spending it on stat enhancement helps the state. With the headbands - er - crowns - Bron and I are at +5 each, +10 together which is a nice boost. Even nicer, when the nation grows and it gets added to 2 or all 3 nation stats.
If Zorestar and Telias went with headbands that would be a good use of gp in my opinion.
DM Aron Marczylo |
well it does say under income phase for every 4k worth of items you deposite you get 1 BP to the kingdom's treasury, however items worth over 4k can be sold via the kingdoms markets to gain BP, but withdrawing money is very bad and causes unrest I believe.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Ganit, let's do a Headband of Vast Intellect (+2) for 4000 gold pieces. Could someone tell me again why Zorestar is not getting Craft Wondrous Item for a feat? Aron, were you charging full price for crafting items? I'm sorry, I cannot remember.
Yes, charging full price because of the amount of time you are given with kingdom building you could easily exploit it and end up having weapons and items way above your WPL (Wealth Per Level) so the sensible thing to di is have it at max, but that's also because you won't be able to aquire whatever items you wish (things with Brevoy are going to heat up so after this one off you won't have the chance for nothing else) and the magic items that certain buildings generated will be rolled based on the Game Master's guide I have so you have no idea what could be rolled up.
One funny moment was when I was in Alex's KM, joining during the kingbuilding at the end of part 1 and he happened to roll a +1 Darkwood Heavy Repeater which was perfect for my new character who was an Inquisitor :p. So sometimes you might get something rolled up you'd be interested in, other times you'll probably have something rolled up that's as good or weaker than your current equipment.
DM Aron Marczylo |
I'll think on it. I'll probably save a bunch for level 3 scrolls I want to scribe next level to add to my arsenal of utility crap.
oh yeah, also ruled that scrolls, potions and wands, being limited use items only cost 50% as per usual for their creation. the 100% rule is only for more perminant things like magic weapons, armour, misc equipment, rods, staves and whatever else.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Should be easy enough for Telias to join us if he feels like it... at least to the city gates. I've edited my equipment so that if I just leave the saddlebags, Felicity will be able to travel at 50ft so James and I can make it to town pretty quickly if we leave early and hustle (5 mph according to this).
Carina Stigard |
Zorestar - it is not that Craft Wondrous Items is useless, just that you will not save money. It would still be very good to have. You could upgrade all the headbands/belts - yet it costs face value, but we get what we want and do not have to worry about things being randomly rolled.
Since you get a bonus feat at level 5/10/15, it might not be a bad thing. Just recognize that you will not get the Metamagic feat which is the other option. Personally, I think that for most Metamagic, it is better to spend the money and get a rod of whatever. It only costs 3k for the basic ones and you do not have to worry about memorizing things in strange level slots. For sorcerers the metamagic is a little more useful as you can decide to add the feat when you cast, for wizards you have to make the decision when you memorize.

I am sure I am going to regret this, but here is the Temple of Elemental Evil Recruitment thread - have fun.
Thanks for the offer! I'm a bit overloaded atm but it seems like a good module/campaign/(er whatchyacallit) to keep an eye on.

Third time forum eats my post!
About the name:
I'm a big fan of that whole English adjective + noun thing, but you guys must be sick of it by now.
Vertaria is cool, but I feel silly saying it for very personal reasons ("Verdaria" is portuguese for the place where you buy vegetables). If everyone likes it, I'm cool with it :)
On that note, what do you guys think about something with -sylv, as Carina suggested? Sylvannia, Sylvaria, something like that?

Verdaria, city of vegtables, no problem though since Babylon had it's hanging gardens.
Carina Stigard |
Chelliax is the land of devils, Geb is the land of the dead. We could be the land of vegetables.
Lol - And I note that this vegetable issue is coming from a country where all the famous people only have one name. Hulk, Ronaldo, Kaka, Rolandinho, Pele, etc.
Carina Stigard |
Poke - where did everyone go? I assume Aron is on vacation or something as he has gone silent on all my games with him. Also, Bron has suddenly become quiet (which is bad since I sent him a question on the ToEE recruitment).
EDIT - figures as soon as I type something like this, Aron pops up on another thread - Doh!!!
DM Aron Marczylo |
no I'm here and havn't gone silent in any of the games you're in lol.
yeah I've not found any reason to post, however it seems everyone has a lot of ideas for names for the nations but no one appears to have agreed...plus similar problem iwth CotCT as no one appears to have mentioned much of a plan, however I came up with one that could be used.
DM Aron Marczylo |
CoCT is also sort of on hold waiting for Curnach to return. I think Zorestar is gone for a few days as well, should be back on Monday.
Funny thing is other incarnations of KM I've seen people come up with names and would've finally made a decision by now, but I think it probably is timing with various people busy, including my trip to Wales and so on.
plus I think Ganit and Jameson are wanting me to say when happens when they go north, whilst I'm waiting for them to finally say they head north :p. Wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
Loved the map Bron did, perfect as it shows the areas, but doesn't reveal anything that might be in the location.
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
I'm here, just had a crazy couple of days and couldn't find a good answer to Zorestar.
I'm starting to think Bronwyn should head north with you guys and announce himself properly to Restov and the swordlords. There is no point to him staying to just sit around, since we haven't got the resources the swordlords promised. I'd just sit around, play cards with Kesten's men and drink Oleg's wine.
Carina Stigard |
@Carina: Didn't see any mention directed to me. The one I noticed was on page 4 and answered right there.
Are you referring to ToEE questions? If so, I am only on Divine. The Arcane submissions will be the last ones I review.

Good thing this game was going for a sandbox feel. Aron's going to have to put his DM hat on for this trip up to the big city.

don't worry as I said before, I have plans within plans an I'm always brainstorming. The idea of bringing things from player's backstories into the campaign has been somewhat of a part of D&D (pathfinder and what-have-you) and even though Kingmaker was made to be a sandbox, trying to fit in custom enemies means cutting back on the current ones in the campaign.
I'l read up on the city of Restov, give a good feel for the place. Really, the swordlords won't be impressed with you returning to Restov, but you'd be able to do it this once.

I hope that something starts happening soon. Otherwise I am going to get bored and start practicing my new spell on the rats about Oleg's (darn low wisdom). And I do not think that Oleg has very good fire insurance.
Start a fight with the Varns?

It is not target practice. More like a barbecue since it never misses.
