I also quite loved the choices you make, atleast in the first one. I like them because there are no "good" or "evil" choices, they simply lead to different outcums that again aren't evil but not good either so it's refreshing not to see a alignment thing like other games, but you do gain different rewards.
I agree, it's a lot more rewarding than the good/evil, light/dark side, paragon/renegade systems I'm used to. The fact that the outcomes aren't always what you expect is especially refreshing.
It's like HBO for video games. It certainly earned it's M rating.
I also felt it was quite rewarding in Dragon Age as you can do choices that are morally good, though the units you get are weaker than the others for the final battle or the less moral choice which leads to getting rarther nasty and violent creatures to fight in the final battle against the Darkspawn.
But yeah, Witcher and Witcher 2 certainly have earned their ratings, though 18 here in the UK rarther than M which is 17+ I believe.

Your character sheet says 20 hp but he only hit you the once for 16hp.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
I think it's being factored like this:
20 (Max)
-2 (punka$$ bandit who stabbed you)
---
18
18 (current)
-20 (punka$$ bandit lord who shot you)
---
-2
-2 (current)
+4 (helpful bandit who poured a potion into your face)
---
+2
I could be wrong. I normally am.

If anyone is opposed to me dropping my smokestick into either P23, P24 or P25 next round, let me know.
DM Aron Marczylo |
I think I see my error, the damage changed because I calculated the damage wrong then forgot to add certain conditional modifiers, ect, ect. Won't get into as it's secret to why he hits so hard with his arrows. Will post in just a sec.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Telias can still attempt to Stabilize. I think the roll is 1d20 + CON (1) - negative HP (-2) vs a DC 10. So that's 1d20-1. You've go a pretty good chance of not bleeding to death.
Telias Markan |
1d20+4 actually. Telias gave up skill points for heart of the wilderness. Makes him damn hard to kill forever.
Still he needs to get up and cram that hole full of entangle before the stone call runs out. That way the stag lord and beaky can have some more personal time.

I took that alt racial feat too. Nice roll!
I figured the smokestick should help to keep that happy family close. We just need to figure out how to make the best out of that situation tactically if we chose to drop it.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Does Zorestar have any allies beside him (other than Telias) or is he being flanked and attacked on all sides?
besides Telias, you also have Akiros as he has moved up so he wasn't flanked anymore. any spell casting will require a concentraition check and I believe this is the last round of your flaming sphere.
Zorestar Lebeda |
Well, I'm sorry if I hurt Akiros and Telias. I didn't quite realize the bandit next to me (Akiros) was an ally. I was thinking that I was being surrounded and Zorestar panicked in the moment. Hopefully, the Lightning Flash did not cause too much trouble. Maybe at the very least, the bandits will think that I am on the Stag Lord's side!
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
You kinda brought Telias down to -8 HP by doing that... His roll will stabilize him but he'll still be at -8 and unconscious while a swarm of bandits and an owlbear are closing in on him. That puts him in a really tight spot if you ask me. It's probably not too late to change your action. Or take a 5' step.
Carina Stigard |
Heck, draw a dagger and take a swipe at the one I pounded magic missiles into, you can probably take him down and save me wasting another magic missile on him. Either way GET THE HECK OUT OF THE STAG LORD'S SIGHT!!!! otherwise you will be lying and dying just like Telias.

Not to mention it's going to take a serious heal to bring me back up in more than one go.

Soooo, just thinking about round 4. If I were to move across the bridge and drop the smokestick as a free action (to drop an item) off the side into Beaky's square then at the end of my movement toss an alchemist's fire at him/her (God willing, it hits), would that be enough to ignite it for the smoke cloud or do I just have really really high hopes?
Trying to make the most of my actions. Feedback would be super helpful.

You could switch around which one to use. throw alchemist's fire and then drop the smokestick as a free action.

As an FYI for all, I may be off the boards from Friday the 18th until Monday the 28th. I have attempted to download a program which allows me to tether my PC through my Iphone, but do not know whether it will work where I am going. Thus, I hope to keep up with my characters, but if I fall behind, feel free to DMPC me as necessary.

I think I'd rather lead with the smokestick so I'd still have the chance of that 1 point of fire splash damage as a backup.
Have fun, Carina! Thanks for the heads up.

true, but if oyu hit and it fails a reflex save, it gets set alight lol.
And yeah, thanks for the heads up Carina.

Then I guess the smart thing to do would be drop it in the square next to Beaky then toss the flask at the owlbear that way we have a chance of catching the thing on fire and a higher chance of smoking the place up. I'll post after Zorestar and the bosses and minibosses go. The map could be a bit different after all that.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
If he would get the heck out of the way of those arrows, then we might heal him, but healing for 4-11 points when he is getting hit for 10-30 per round is kind of pointless. And which of our 1 visible healers does he want to stand in front of the Stag Lord while casting CLW? The one with 1 hp? Or the invisible one?
I have the ability to heal, just not the means. We have two wands. Telias has a fully charged CLW and the other was unaccounted for but has ~20 shots left. Also, that passage should be full of smoke and since anything past 5' has total concealment so Ox and the Owlbear will probably be fighting the only thing they can see (eachother) for the next minute and the rest of you have total concealment from the Stag Lord. That smoke can give James time to ready an attack to charge ol' Stagz McKenzi when the smoke is clear. He's backed into a corner right now so that bow makes him pretty dangerous. If we can entangle him this fight should be over quickly. If not, what's left of the team will be spending a bit of gold on masons and sculpture artists for the town square...
If the Stag Lord continues to shoot at us through the fog, logically he'd be more likely to hit either Beaky or Ox than any one of us. Both of them have been taking some pretty heavy damage so a Stag Lord arrow will probably be the cherry on top.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Happy to see that gem wasn't forgotten :)
Should we just assume that Carina would have her PC stay back and blast magic missiles until she used up her spells then switch to her crossbow or should we have her charge in to show the owlbear (that was given a name by the Paizo writters) what a proper claw attack should to look like?
DM Aron Marczylo |
Did the elemental hit? That came out a bit unclear.
@Zorestar: It's the product of an Elemental Gem the group found somewhere.
Yeah, just about hit.

Sorry about not replying in a while. Been a heatwave and my brain works like a computer processor. When too hot my brain can't think, hence why I'm able to reply now after midnight where things have cooled down...a little.
Plus yesterday nothing is more tiring that lifting furnature whilst out in the boiling sun. That was Tuesday.
Anyway, yeah getting back to positng.
DM Aron Marczylo |
yay company!
Sorry about the weather up there Aron. Funny 'cause here on my city in Brazil it's normally hot as hell, and these past days we got some rains and a strange cold weather.
clearly we've exchanged weather patterns. Need to head out and get some fans and stuff today as well as drinks.
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
Can someone please confirm my math on elemental's attacks? Aron, you're saying I added an extra +1 damage from the earth mastery, was that it?
Here goes the Large Earth Elemental sheet.
It's normal bonus is +14/+14 for 2d6+7 damage. Since if has a +8 BAB it uses Power Attack taking -3 from the attack and adding double that to the damage (+6). So its normal bonus would be +11/+11 for 2d6+13 damage. Factor in Earth Mastery (+1 attack and +1 damage), we get to the total of +12/+12 attack bonus and 2d6+14 damage.
So:
Attack bonus:
+14 (Normal bonus)
+1 (Earth Mastery, not included on the statistics on the sheet)
-3 (Power Attack with a BAB +8)
=
+12 to attack.
Damage Bonus
+7 (Normal bonus)
+6 (Power Attack with a BAB +8)
+1 (Earth Mastery, not included on the statistics on the sheet)
=
+14 damage.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Your breakdown looks good. If you're still using inspire courage the elemental would get that +1/+1 as well.
I'm pretty impressed you managed to roll max damage in both attacks. That's kind of obscene! Good job haha
DM Aron Marczylo |
I dropped the inspire courage, figured it would run counter to sneaking around invisible, etc.
reminds me of order of the stick. "We're sneaking, sneaking. Sneaking up the bad guys!" or something like that, been a while as that was one of the first few strips.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Zorestar cast Shield for Round 6. Are you ready for Round 7?
waiting on Telias, Carina and Jameson. The Stag Lord is horrifically wounded, but still standing.
DM Aron Marczylo |
I keep trying to move and do stuff but on the map I'm still standing by the horse doing nothing and none of my actions seem to be accounted for, so I'm not sure what else I could possibly do?
oops, sorrry my error, plus I forgot no one sees anything yet cause of the smoke.
