Lets hold off on the pyromaniac theory until we see what it has. Also, for cat's grace and things like that. They are all on Telias' spell list. If you can bribe the grumpy old druid, you might be able to convince him to scribe a few scrolls over the next day to two. Then use those and get the +4 to dex at half price.

Male Human Bard 4

That's a good idea Carina. As soon as Bron discovers that he'll try asking Telias to write him some.

Cat's Grace would be ideal but I can't afford any of the 2nd lvl potions. I did, however, discover that I could use the one of our CLW wands! (Source) Apparently as long as it's on your class's spell list you can use spell trigger items even if you don't have a caster level yet. So I can hold onto that nearly depleted CLW wand if needed. It's nice we have 2 wands and 3 party members who can use them. If I do take the wand than I may want to run back to the outpost to grab some smokesticks (AKA: an archer's worst foe) to guard against Stagz McOne-Hitter.

Being a alchemist he has skills in alchemy so there's a good chance Bokken might have these sticks. He sells the stuff he makes to Oleg, not just potions afterall.

Also yeah, I thought you knew about trigger items being operated like that? Only ones that can't are things like scrolls as they are spell completion so you need to be of that certain class to use them. Well I think it's arcane or divine scrolls where wands it doesn't matter, hence why the hunters out here have been able to use them.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

A great wand that Ganit should get is Gravity Bow. Since he has a single level in ranger, it will give his arrows a nice extra punch. Lead Blades is another good Ranger spell for a wand.

If you want a confirmation of the Ranger's ability to use spell completion items, look at the Trapper Archetype of the Ranger. It expressly states that the Trapper does not have a caster level and cannot use certain spell completion and spell trigger magic items. I would read this as the exclusion of one equals the inclusion of others.

Right. I applied to the game with the archetype but changed to core a day or so after making the cut. Figured the spells carry more versatility than the traps. I will say that fixing traps onto arrows sounds like a neat ability.

True, of course if you really want to have fun, you should have gone 1/2 elf and taken 1 level of mage or witch and then gone Arcane Archer. Nothing like shooting touch spells with your bow.

Haha. My backup plan, should anything happen to my boy Ganit, was to go Magus (Myrmidarch) 8/ Arcane Archer X. Less spells but higher CL plus some nifty options. I really like my PC so I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

Somehow I know Alex is looking down our characters and waiting...

Please god don't do this to yourself.

You can get the same effect without using such a bad archetype.

Hope we won't need those :)

I really dunno what I would do if/when Bron dies. Seeing as he's an unoptimized front-line meleer bard, I really should think about that.

Never played a magus so it's hard to rate the archetypes. Seems like a fun build when I play it in my head. All the other ways of getting to that Prc seem to make you choose between a wizard with a bow or an archer with a few weak tricks. At least they gave the Arcane Archer spell casting levels in pathfinder. It always bugged me that 3.5 didn't.

Male Human Bard 4

Who thought being comic relief was that fun?

Seriously, though, Bronwyn typically offers himself as punchline in an effort to lighten the mood and also make others underestimate him. It's just a self-defense thing.

So I've been contemplating the idea of growing Leshys to keep Telias company, watch over his house, and generally be interesting background as Telias's "family".

Thoughts?

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

interesting idea. As long as you aren't going to bring them along as a personalised army then it should be fine. They're going to be quite a strange sight but at the same time it inspires me for some ideas for a personal mission for Telias :)

Got B3 PDF so will have a better read there.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Here's some info I found in one of the Km PDFs cause I thought I saw the fungus lashly before.

Leshys in Mythology

In Slavic myths and legends, a leshy is a woodland spirit that protects and defends the animals and plants of the wild places. The myths also speak of the wives of the leshy (leshaika), as well as their children (leshonky). The name leshy comes from the common Slavic term les, meaning “forest,” hence the leshy is “of the forest.” Leshy are roughly analogous to the woodwose of Western Europe and the basajaun of the Basque country.

In some legends, a leshy can take the form of any plant or animal and also that of a human. In other legends, they appear as tall as giant trees in forests, only to become tiny dwarves or blades of grass when outside a forest. There are many contradictory tales about a leshy’s appearance, but as they are shapeshifters, this is perhaps understandable.

To outwit an offended leshy, a traveler could immediately turn his clothes inside out and put them on backwards, or present a holy symbol to confuse the leshy. One could also set a forest fire and not look back, for the leshy would be more concerned with putting the fire out than with performing mischief against travelers.

Init 8, HP 56/56, Speed 30 AC 20, Touch 13, Flat-footed 18, CMD 19, Fort 6, Ref 10, Will 7

Telias can already summon personalized armies., Besides that Leshy's are rather weak combatants.

More likely Telias would make the fearful Tobbacco Leshy.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Does this mean we don't get a leshy pie for dinner?

Init 8, HP 56/56, Speed 30 AC 20, Touch 13, Flat-footed 18, CMD 19, Fort 6, Ref 10, Will 7

That would be an extraordinarily expensive pie.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

hmm...yeah certainly would, though I do wonder what his first leshy would look like...a spriggin from Skyrim?

Male Human Bard 4

Any comments about Bron's wacky plan?

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I was going with getting some of the toys and planting them on Donvan or one of the other bandits so that Ox would start fighting his own. Might as well start by trimming the troops. Then while that battle is going on, let the owlbear loose to have a snack. Now we have two good diversions. Ganit should be able to eliminate the snipers while this is going on.

Either we then move in and take down the Stag Lord or we wait for him to exit. Either way, I would prefer to not be on deck while the owlbear and ox are going ballistic.

Yeah, I'm thinking those toys are too good of a tool to pass up. you could even toss them into the owlbear pen and see what happens. I only had enough space for 1 Bear Trap in my pack but I figured I could use it to cover my tracks after trying to take out the next guard (fairly confident the first one is mostly dead).

It may be worthwhile to remember that all of that oil is right outside of the stag lords chamber. I doubt you'll want to build your castle on top of or next to zombieland...

Is there a way we can get a map with our PC's and known enemies placed on it?

To be fair, Bron's plan calls for the least bit of us sneaking around to actually talk to each other. It seems like something that we could just pick up and go with.

Male Human Bard 4

We could use Carina's suggestion, preferably hiding the toys on Donvan. If there are like 2 toys (one knight and one dragon) we could hide one on Donvan and get rid of the other. When Auchs discovers Donvan's holding it, he wouldn't be able to find the other toy and would probably keep on fighting until he finds it.

Tough part of this will be actually stealing the thing ('cause of the creaky old stairs) and planting it (I don't believe any of us has Sleight of Hand).

What kind of rogue would I be without ranks in slight of hand? A terrible one! I've got a +7 mod but I'm wondering where I'd put anything on him. Judging by the pic, he's putting his leathers at max capacity. But I'm already upstairs with decent stealth and acrobtics, I could jump over from the tower I'm in and grab it. Or, much easier, we have 2 highly trained birds...

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Zorestar has Mage Hand. If these are not locked down, he should be able to get them quite easily as long as he can see them. Perhaps this would be a good use of levitate & invisibility. Go invisible, levitate high enough to use mage hand to get the toys. Drop them to Bron or Ganit, or just use mage hand to drop them in the middle of a group of off duty bandits.

Then watch the fun.

how could you use mage hand to take them down? I believe it's a short distance and they're up in the tower so you'd need to see it, surely? Plus I'm certain someone might see a object floating out of the central tower.

Unless you did what you said which was levitate with invisibility, that'd work.

True. Choice is Zorestar's if he wishes to lend a hand. He could use two 2nd lvl spells or Empathetic Link Istikali to do his bidding.

I kinda have a feeling if you dropped Auchs' toys to any of the bandits they would just give it back to him. It may be better to lead him off into the zombie fields or open the owlbear's cage. I know it's a bit meta but if there's a pic of these guys, they're likely to have class levels (and it wouldn't be far off to assume those levels are higher than ours). Personally, I'd rather spend a few rounds picking off canon fodder enemies than go toe to toe with one of the few big baddies (Owlbear/Donovan/Auchs/Stag Lord). The only person really qualified for that position is Jameson, the rest of us are glass jaws. Thankfully Bronwyn recruited us a new tank.

Who has that elemental gem? That was this campaign, right?

Sleep would be good for Falgrim Sneeg since we need him alive for the bounty. I packed a set of manacles in my bag just for him.

66% of our party are casters so there should be many ways to take care of things.

Grease the stairs, hell, grease everything! Acrobatics isn't a class skill for most so a DC 10 is surprisingly rough to overcome. It's a 50/50 with a decent duration and prone/FF enemies are easier to hit and easier to kill.

I'd love to hit staggy poo with my last tanglefoot bag and I'd be happy to hand it over to anyone else who may have better access to him. -2 to attack and -4 to Dex is pretty hard on an archer. When paired with Bron's Touch of Gracelessness (fort half, so he'll still take at least -1 to dex) and grease we can keep him on the floor for a while, plus the added benefit of AoO's when he tries to stand up at his reduced AC.

Ha! We do have an Earth Elemental Gem! (Pg 38, #1883). Idk who has it but I know we didn't sell it. Cracking that thing open would be a fine way to wake up our enemy.

Male Human Bard 4

Yeah I will try to grease our Staggy or the owlbear area once it's loose. Or the entrance to area Z7 if we end up fighting him there.

Love the Earth Elemental Gem, though I think we could use it for an emergency, if we need some sort of buffer between the bandits and us. If we don't release the owlbear we could use the elemental (it is Large-sized) to bar the entrance to Z7 so we can fight the Stag and not get disturbed by the bandits. No one can pass through him means we have the room for ourselves.

Male Human Bard 4

Whatever it is we end up doing, let's get on with it!! I'm F5ing this page every minute in antecipation. It's been 9 months since we started this and all has led up to this point. Let's kick this dude's butt or die trying!

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Ok.

1) Zorestar casts Message on Ganit, myself and Bron so that we are all in contact. Then casts it a second time so that he can also talk with James and Telias.

2) Our pet birds go and steal a few of the toys, giving at least two to Ganit and two to Bron. Just realized that the birds will make great thieves.

2b) Telias casts Eagle's Splendor on me - improves diplomacy/bluff and Sleep saves.

3) Akiros starts a brawl with Dovan. The second he hears this, Ganit drops his toys into the owlbear pen from above (I assume it is open to the sky somewhere.) Bron plants his toys near the bandits closest to the owlbear pen. Then gets away from the Sleep/Ox nuts area.

4) While watching Akiros and Dovan go at it, I causally ask Ox why the owlbear has his toys (pray I get a good bluff/diplomacy on that one.) --> Ox goes nuts and stats attacking people, possibly even the owlbear.

5) As soon as Ox takes off, I cast sleep in the middle of the room trying to get as many bandits as possible. I cast a second time if possible.

6) Bron casts grease toward where the Stag Lord will have to come out from.

7) I cast Enlarge Person on James - we like our super sized Cavalier.

8) Bron and James start to coup de gras as many sleeping bandits as possible, preferably with non-lethal damage if we can. --> We want to be viewed as merciful if any of these guys survive.

9) Zorestar casts Charm Person on Falgrin Sneed - we want him alive, and having him sit this out peacefully seems the best option.

10) Telias uses Entangle wherever it is most effective to cause problems for the bandits that are still standing. Also keeps an eye out for anyone coming from the lower level.

11) Zorestar and I use Magic Missile on any Bandits who are running to get the Stag Lord - or the Stag Lord if he appears.

Ha! I'm looking forward to this too. Jameson and I are waiting for our actions to be resolved and I'm sure everybody else is just as anxious to get this started.

If we release the owlbear there's a good chance we'll need to throw the elemental gem to protect ourselves from it eventually, a large earth elemental is certainly no dainty flower.

Zorestar's mage hand/vanish would probably be better suited to get the toys into the cage seeing as there 11 enemies standing around in that room. Chances are high that one of those people will roll a good perception check to spot someone stuffing a toy dragon through the holes in the cage (it'd be just as easy to let Zorestar empathetic link Istikali to lead Auchs outside the gate to the zombie fields imo, frees up spells too).

From the looks of the map I'd say it's blocked from the top. It looks like the same material as the walls and Ganit has too high of a Wisdom score to want to climb on top of it. That Wis score accounts for why his plans often depend on the bulk of the work being done with little risk and little glory. There is a guard in every tower. I thought you relieved the guard in Z3b. You also have the unlikable bandit in Z3c (worst tower of all and he's a snitch who is disliked by all) and of course another one in Z3a. None in the central as that's where Aurchs sleeps and no one dares to go up there.

Was going to say earlier Ganit was right about finding a elemental gem, it was at the kobold's area and I added it to the pile to help increase the loot to +50% and it made sense that they would keep a pretty rock they found without knowing it's magical properties.

Your Humble Narrator

Spellcasting isn't exactly subtle, especially as nearly all spells have a verbal component. A bandit doesn't need Spellcraft to know that your casting a spell or acting very suspiciously with your gestures and fancy words.

From memory, the fort is very small. You'll have a very hard time spellcasting somewhere in private. Also, just curious (I haven't kept up with the IC) how have you come up with this detailed plan without anyone overhearing you? I imagine the furthest you could be from a bandit at any given time is 20-30 feet.
