I had already thought about how Bronwyn would try to convince you guys to join in the politics, I just wanted to know if it's a cold hard player decision or if it is a "as of yet, I do not have a good reason".
Know anywhere I can get that show? The torrents are so terribly slow. May have something to do with me living in Brazil and our terrible internet speeds.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
I love Torrents sooooo much. I've found that with that show it was easier to go episode by episode rather than complete seasons.
If you'd rather be legitimate, Netflix has seasons 1-3. 1st season is really slow but it introduces you to the whole setting/characters/conflicts. It's only 6 episodes long but makes the rest exponentially better due to the running jokes.

I fear that antisocial characters who don't participate in the decision-making and kingdom stuff are bound to become bored (since much focuses on that).
Less than you realize. Understand that you're basing thigns entirely upon a set of rules the do incredibly little to actually arbitrate the true political and economical intricacies of even a medieval society.
Things get more complicated when you talk about magic as well.
Consider this. You are absolutely correct that you are about tos tart a colony in the middle of a normally forsaken wilderness. One colony has already tried and failed. Most of the inhabitants are either unfriendly or downright hostile. The rest are fey.
Yet, here you have two generally antisocial characters who see it in their own interest to help this colony along. Telias is fairly simple, he's basically doing it because for all his grumbling and griping he'd rather not watcha b unch of people march to what is essentially their deaths. If it isn't starvation, it'll be the bandits, if it isn't the bandits it'll be the dangerous wildlife, if not that then the barbarians, and if not that than the capricious and more often than not hostile fey.
And even once you get your colony established you'll still be on the very edges of civilization.
Even then, cities physically give Telias nasty migraines and delirious headaches.
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
np Telias :)
Hey folks, just to let you know I've used the spoilers to minimize the amount of wall-text since the content might matter more to some and less to others. You all can read all you'd like, I trust everyone knows how to separate player knowledge from character knowledge.
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
Hey folks, would you guys mind if we took a little detour and stop by the Temple? We could leave the wagon and most of the supplies there so the rest of the scouting would be faster. Also, it's been a while since we've talked to him and we could ask about the fangberries and that boar.
Sir Bronwyn Raslov |
Also, I wanted to thank you guys for giving me a hand these last few days. When I created this character I devised a simple conflict of personality arising from his background (most of it is in the profile) and I made sure to leave it open-ended. I thought I'd love to see it develop and see people's responses to it and what would happen to him afterwards.
One way or another, most of that conflict has been resolved these last few days, and it seemed to end on a really happy note. I have been hesitant to suggest Bron as a ruler because that development could go many different ways.
I may not be a great roleplayer (heck English isn't even my primary language!) but I sure as hell enjoyed developing that particular thread. I just hope you'll forgive me for being a prima dona these last days, and I promise I won't keep hogging the spotlight.

About Parks and Development: I live in Brazil, and Netflix is still on its first baby steps here. It has a very small array of brazillian movies and old american ones. So I mostly download series and watch them with english subtitles (I am very hard of hearing, so when the voices are low I have trouble comprehending their English - specially people like the supporting cast on The Mentalist).
Carina Stigard |
Your english is pretty good, could have fooled me. It is a lot better than my german which is as close as I come to a second language.
Don't worry about hogging. If I have the time and energy to respond, I do. If it gets too be too much, I will just respond slower.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
I see no problems. This past week has been really great for character development all around so I wouldn't worry.
I think that Zorestar came in at a really great point for us to reflect on our characters a bit. I think we've all gotten a little comfortable so it's been a matter of going through the motions rather than the heavy dialogue and PC conflicts that were so prominent when the game started. Also, props to Zorestar for being a good sport about the jaded, tight-knit group of bullies that is our wonderful party.
As far as I see it, we've got a two party system in the running for ruler. I've tried making Ganit levitate towards the high Char PC's and he's had more experience with Bron than Carina. Actually, he and Carina started on bad terms and he'd be less inclined to sweep that under the rug. Jeez, Carina.
Idk if it's different in Brazil but the US title is 'Parks and Recreation.' Could help your search?

Hey - it could be worse. My character in another campaign got slugged by a fellow player, so she Slumber Hexed him. Fortunately for him she did not follow that up with a slit throat.
I had actually forgotten there was some bad blood, will have to read back and see what I did.

Wherein I would have rubbed my evil GM hands together and the Mark of Justice would have come into play. I'll let the upcoming NPC explain to you just what that delightful curse you all submitted yourselves to does.
EDIT - And fortunately for you the player metagamed just enough to punch you with hsi fist rather than his spiked chain. :D
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Haha! I think it was less than a week into this game that Lukan and I had our scuffle. From there on our PC's would argue about most everything. In case you're wondering, I'd have kicked his ass. 1st lvl, Favored Enemy(Human). Pfft, forget about it.
DM Aron Marczylo |
I am always here reading, just enjoying the roleplayig :)
Also I never would've guessed Bron's first language wasn't English. Damn near perfect from what I can tell and far better than most people speak it here...and I'm IN England.
DM Aron Marczylo |
sorry everyone for not posting yet to move the adventure along. Had bad squits and light-headed. I'd rarther post when I'm able to concentrait without a searing pain in my intestines. Hopefully will be much better in a few days.

Well thank you Ganit and everyone for your kind welcome. I have had a terrific first week with all of you. Your characters certainly seem very tight knit, experienced and hardened. However, it does create some nice opportunities for role play and character development. I hope Zorestar will be a memorable and likable character with a believable personality. I feel like a play him with a higher charisma than 10, but I figure that the average scores comes out with his awkwardness in various social situations. Of course, I always welcome your thoughts and input in how to improve my role-playing. Thanks again.

Remember, low charisma and low wisdom have a lot of crossovers. Low charisma can be ugly, but also hard to get along with. Low wisdom in my opinion is more bad decision making. For instance with your high intelligence, you know exactly what to say. But with your charisma and wisdom, as you have been doing, you know all the wrong times (low wisdom) and wrong ways (lows charisma) to say it.
I think you are playing quite well to your stats.

lost track, but did oyu guys buy anything after Oleg got the extra cash from the capital? More stuff to sell and buy? Also if you waited the extra 2 days, Ganit's armour will arrive.
DM Aron Marczylo |
he got a shipment increase as I mentioned earlier of 750 gp from Brevoy so he should be able to cover the supplies Ganit bought, however I have lost what he bought from Oleg.
Eitherway, he should have more than enough cash to cover you all for your costs.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
1.29g (Oleg's Cash ~7 days ago)
+729g (Ganit's Shopping List)
+750g (Wand of Cure Light Wounds)
+726g (Telias' Scribing Costs)
+750g (Shipment Increase)
--------
2956.29g
+1 Hide Armor: 507.5gp 1015/2 = 507.5
Longbow (x10): 375gp 37.5g each 75/2 = 37.5; 37.5*10 = 375
Mwk Handaxe (x2): 306gp 306/2 = 153. 153*2 = 306
Wooden Music Box 90g
Spears, small (x5): 5gp 1g each 2/2 = 1; 1*5 = 5
507.5+375+306+90+5 = 1283.5
1283.5/6 = 213.91 r4
Lottery: 1=Bronwyn, 2=Carina, 3=Ganit, 4=James, 5=Telias, 6=Zorestar
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 1) = 9
Bronwyn: 213.93g
Carina: 213.91g
Ganit: 213.92g
Jameson: 213.92g
Telias: 213.91g
Zorestar: 213.91g
Oleg's Current Cash: 1672.79g (2956.29-1283.5)
DM Aron Marczylo |
Are you sure you are ok granting Zorestar gold at this point? I can certainly use it towards a wand or something, but I was not sure if it I deserved it considering that it likely came from your adventure before my arrival.
It's their choice, but you have been given wealth for your level so they could spread the remainder amungst themselves, which is fair as they risked life and limb for their treasure.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
I guess to keep up appearances we shouldn't. We didn't give Telias anything when he joined the group. I'll leave it to a majority vote
DM Aron Marczylo |
I can see the map, but I am not clear where we just spent the night. What hex are we on?
The Rickety Bridge. That's where you are now.
DM Aron Marczylo |
lol, nice on Bronwyn, that makes me laugh :)
Well I rolled up a hunter encounter and thought it made more sense for a friendly encounter than having the entire group take on two CR 1/3 npcs. Plus it adds onto something else I've been thinking whilst making plans for part 2.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Telias has eyes!? I thought you were using an advanced race that has a beaver dam for a head and the majority of the upper torso.
DM Aron Marczylo |
yeah same here I decided to let you guys roleplay more as I found you guys did so well at the outpost and I often find myself having pushed you guys at time from time. :p
