Hey guys, I think I'm going to have to retire from the game. I haven't been able to follow it for a while, and I don't see things changing unfortunately. I loved the character and this AP seems awesome and we haven't even gotten started, but I don't want to move forward only half paying attention. You guys deserve a player that can pay more attention. Thanks for the good times.
shame to hear you have to drop out. I'll start up a recruitment thread soon enough. It's a real shame as you have a great character there and hope whatever is distracting you get's resolved.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Truly a shame to lose you Cambyl, your PC has been a great member of the troupe and your OOC presence has been invaluable as a mediator. It will be difficult to replace the ever-positive Cambyl, we need at least one person who isn't always pesimistic and jaded. Good luck with your schedule.
Lukan Swane "Swaney" |
Nooo, dangit! Why'd it have to be you Cambyl? Why couldn't it have been Ganit? =P
I'm sorry to see you go. Ditto on what everyone else has said. It has been a real pleasure to have you in the group and there's going to be a hole that no one could ever fill =(.
Carina Stigard |
The worst part about this is that Lukan will not be able to claim that the keg is for "religious" purposes any more.
DM Aron - do you want us to put out the feelers for recruits before opening it up to the general public? Makes no difference to me, just figure it might be easier than reading through 10-30 apps.

if you could. Also as you say it would be easier than reading through 10-30 apps all for 1 position :p

Where as my reaction was this
but seriosuly as I said above, sad to see you go and a real shame especially with how great of a player you were and how you get along with everyone. I hope we find someone who's atleast half the player you are.

Broken hearts happen when a dragon tooth pierces from your ribcage to your shoulder blade.

+1 Breastplate 1350/2 = 675 Gold
I have 191 gold right now, so I will owe 484 gold before this loot is distributed.
Everyone should add 38.2 gold to their pockets for my payment on the breastplate.
Owed to the group: 484 gold pre-loot distro.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Lol! Good to know. Thanks for the pre-emptive loot split, you should stand to make a bit of that back from the gold we make from our board quest. Who knows we may make more from multiple heads???

The ladies that walk the street near my work make more from multiple heads... So I don't see why not.

Note to self - Lukan's dream country's primary industries are apparently 1) beer, 2) 'shrooms, 3) ladies of the night. Should be interesting, what are the key stats for Drug Lord and Pimp?
Sounds like Vegas... Anyways, it is governed by the well-hidden and relatively unknown "Swagger" stat.

The same as taking money out of the treasury and losing BPs?

Yeh - Cambyl will be missed, we have a really good group here with few delays waiting on people. It has been fun.
What do people think about a witch replacing Cambyl? I have a good player who likes playing witches.
A cleric is just too valuable... Being able to cast any divine spell kicks butt.
Sorry that is just my lash-out because my heart is so sad about the loss of Cambyl =(
Carina Stigard |
Getting interest from a couple of reliable regular players. I told them to post characters here on the OOC, figured that is better than on the recruitment thread as if anyone posts on a recruitment thread, then it goes active again resulting in it showing up on the regular recruitment list - with the usual pile of inquiries.
If you want, I can have them tell me the characters and just post the links here, really makes no difference to me.

Hello, hello.
Just popping in to ask about character creation rules. I've not made any decisions as to what I would throw before you for your cold hard judgment yet but it does seem there's a craving for someone who can glue your limbs back on after you hack them off.
Here are the character creation rules when I applied a few months ago.
The game is based on a 6 player build.
1. Human Ranger/Rogue
2. Half-elf Cleric of Cayden Caylean - leaving
3. Human Bard (Arcane Duelist)
4. Human Fighter
5. Changeling Sorcerer(Orc Bloodline)
Here's more info:
1. download the free kingmaker player's guide to help with character creation and to tell you what it's all about.
2. Character creation I will only be judging backstory and the character's motivation. Do they merely want to tame the land or hope to get something else out of it?
Rules of creation:
15 point buy (i'd like to see roleplaying with any stat dumping, not stat dumping for the sake of stat dumping. Low charisma = either a ugly and/or shy character and so on with other stats.) also characters are still 1st level and I have a group xp so everyone will have the same xp. If they happen to level then I'll update telling you all.
Alignment: any non-evil
Classes: core, APG and UM (NO ultimate combat or any other sources)
Races: core races but others could be approved on a case-by-case basis dependent on background and the race.
Feats: Any within reason and if your character meets the prerequisits. Any feats from outside of the sources mentioned under classes will be discussed over.
Traits: 2 traits, one must be a campaign trait
Starting Gear: Anything within reason. Average starting cash for the class.
Notes: I'll be leaving this open for a week, however I will close sooner as I hope to have the replacements back at Oleg's to meet up with the group and then write out the other characters.
On a final note, no restriction on where your character comes from within reason and your traits too. As long as it's somewhat believeable that your character ended up in Restov and then getting the charter. There are suggestions that you could've arrived on a large trade caravan from Numeria or possibly arrives there on a pilgramige. You would've heard that the Stolen Lands are known to be riddled with bandits and the rulers are looking for people to take care of the bandit problem and secure a trading route for the Rostland.
(I'll add more details when you pass through, making it reasonable that you arrived and who you would've met at the trading post so that you are up to speed on current quests and ect.)
P.S. About posting, I perfer a minimum of once every 24 hours and will bot the character when in combat. Will require a update if you are going to be ill or somehow unable to post for a while. I won't automatically kick you unless some time passes as there is always the chance of a family emergency or something else, but if you are able to atleast say "hi guys, sorry can't reply for a while. Stuff is going down this side" then I'll understand and post for you until you get back on your feet.
These are copied from DM Aron's August 31 posting when the last two players joined. I assume that nothing has changed other than that we are currently 2nd level.

Hiya. Yes, Bronwyn needs quite a bit of glue. He attracts all manner of beasts ;)
Cambyl |
thanks for the kind words everyone. i have no internet at the moment and am on my phone or i would say more. if you guys waant to leave the option open, things might settle down in a couple of months and i might be able to come back but i dont really know. maybe cambyl can start up a brewery at olegs or something ;)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
Who knows Cambyl, we could give you a political position when we get down to kingdom building. Maybe down the line we can recruit you on a mission or two? Get the ol' gang back together perhaps...
In Cambyl's absence we're going to need a major healer. The witch class has access to cure wounds spells but nothing else in the way of curing ability damage, curses, poisons, wards and etc... All that said, the witch class is a great de-buffer which could be helpful. I guess to be clear I should bring it around to my first point and say: We need a major healer.

** spoiler omitted **...
You've forgotten Jameson, our half-orc Cavaler.

Don't know about leaving it for a few months. It'd really slow the game down if we were to agree with that, but I'll leave it up to the guys.
Cambyl can be a NPC and take one of the political positions or you can construct a brewery and we can have him run in in fluff wherever you put the capital like Oleg's or somewhere else. There's a lot more detail about where you are going to set up the capital, but it's not worth thinking about now, especially as you havn't found all the locations yet.
Carina Stigard |
I agree with DM Aron, having Cambyl be a NPC in and around Oleg's would be good. And then we can bring him into the fold as a part of the town/country.
Bangs head on wall.
Sorry James, after I added me, I got sidelined as I was reading through the rest of the August 31 post to make sure that there were no changes that needed to be made and completely forgot to finish adding the characters.
For all Applicants, we also have Jameson, the uber-cavalier who charges in and saves our sorry butts a fair amount of the time.
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
I'm considering a dwarf druid. How does that sound?
Sounds fun, hats off to anyone who plays a druid! They were beyond me in 3.5 and in Pathfinder there are dozens of archetypes and totems to choose from so that makes them that much more complicated to my simple mind. I look forward to seeing your example of what I'm missing out on.
Jameson Addercop IV |
No worries. Once I'm level 3 and have a masterwork saddle I can't fail the check to actually attack, which will be nice.
Druids are great, they have excellent crowd control, summoning is a great way to prevent damage, and we're at the level where a group CLW wand takes care of our out of combat healing needs.
Sounds like Erastil is going to be the state religion at this rate, with a small temple/brewery for Cambyl.
TarkXT |
I love dwarves although I have not played one in a long time. The only thing is that we have a half-orc and I don't want any IC problems. Although having played with both of you, I do not expect that to occur.
Doubtful. Actually changed my concept to local yokel humie.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Carina quickly puts on her cloak of invisibility from humans. (I am guessing there are a lot more humans in this area than dwarves, so probably not a bad idea if we are supposed to rule the land.)
Jameson Addercop IV |
Tark can submit whatever race character he wants. I'm perfectly capable of handling my own IC actions without assistance and would like to think my interactions with others are based on their character and not their race.

Heh - really does not matter, good players find a way to work together, jerks get asked to leave the campaign. As I said, I doubt this will be a problem with the group here - heck, even Ganit and Lukan seem to be avoiding coming to blows every five minutes recently.
Carina Stigard |
Don't underestimate Goodberries for general out of combat healing- combination of Goodberries and Treat Deadly Wounds checks mean our party wand of CLW is barely ever used in Aron's CotCt game.
Bows down to the king of goodberries (which he uses very effectively)>

It is true. They are berry good...I'm sorry I had to say that bad pun.
Wouldn't be any problems between a half-orc and dwarfs. Sure they have the history of Orcs taking down some of the dwarf's sky citadels and the huge wars they had even before the dwarves made for their quest for sky, but it's like in modern days most people who once had huge wars against each other tolerate people more. Not everyone of course and I'm sure any dwarf character would take one look at Jameson and see that he's civilised and not the typical half-orc barbarian who lives in the Hold of Belkzen and has a collection of dwarven skulls on his belt.
Maybe a little racial distrust, but it depends if the dwarf in question was brought up amungst his own people in the mountins or if he was brought up around humans and other humanoids so he had a little bit of a wider knowledge.
As I said in the origonal recruitment thread, other races will have to be checked first like for instance, Carina is a changling which isn't a core race, but she had a really good backstory that fit in well and I have no problem with other races...as long as they aren't over-powered like Minotaur or Drow noble. Others I'll have to consider too.
On a side note, reading you guys all calling yourselves heroes after the battle and taking the scales each makes me smile as a DM for having such a awesome group :)
The Hermit Ganit D'Artain |
So I think I may use a rogue talent or feat (extra talent) somewhere down the line on Black Market Connections. This may be able to help us with magic items when we build our city.
Aron - Is this within the rules or is it a loophole that will lead to an untimely end for my character?
Side note, does anyone have any good names they've been tossing around for our kingdom? I know we've got a ways to wait but its fun to dream, right?
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
The kingmaker base value etc. rules aren't actually based on city size, nor do cities automatically become a certain type once they hit a certain population so this seems rather incompatible.
However, re-working the talent to let you treat a cities base value as XXX higher than it really is would probably help too.
As written though, i'd say that talent is extremely incompatible with a KM adventure path.
Just my two cents.
DM Aron Marczylo |
We could go with "Scards" to use the first letter of each current character's last name.
Would be nice to have a name as otherwise everyone will simply call you guys "the warriors of the greenbelt" or "warriors of the stolen lands" or another variation. Plus your names might travel beyond these lands, which it is in whispers which is how Oleg has been getting better stuff from traders.
wil have to say no to the talent due to the argument Alex brought up that I quite agree with.
