Liberty's Edge

Go watch Captain Earth.

Puck: The Puck does not lie...

Audience (or at least everyone I know): You may not lie, but you sure as hell don't tell the truth.

AH!

Never seen it. So now I think I must. :D

On the topic, though... Cyberpunk game? ;)

Liberty's Edge

It is a glorious mashup 70's superhero shows, 80's giant robots, 90's angst, ennui, and cynicism, 00's over the top self awareness, and 10's science fiction trope/fads. And Shakespeare.

To put it another way, it was written by Yōji Enokido.

If I offered a G+ cyber generation game, at a semi-reasonable hour 9pm til 12pm GMT once a fortnight. Would there be interest?

Sadly that's not doable for me. I'd be totally interested, but 9:00 PM GMT is 7:00 AM here. Which means it either conflicts with work, or it ties up my weekends mornings, which are generally reserved for friends and family time.

Interest, yes, but timing is an issue for me. That's 1pm to 3pm for me, which is doable on certain days, but it's also prime "Good grief, Jim, something's happened and I need help!" time.

What day(s) were you looking at?

And is play-by-post off the board entirely? (it's okay if it is, just checking)

It is the kind of thing that would almost certainly have to happen on a Sunday Jemstone.

Play by post is not of the boards as far as I am concerned.

Yeah, I'm at work by that point, 9:00 PM Sunday night GMT is 7:00 AM Monday morning for me.

Months later, I gotta ask:

Who's going to start the Cyberpunk Forum Game?

Oh, and in case anyone's interested in a (grossly stripped down) version of what my Monday Night players are currently engaged in, check out The Metro, my next personal/small-press Cyberpunk project.

Have you tried Mutant Chronicle? 3rd edition is out. You could easily do a mirror-glass run.

Okay. I think I am happy running a play by post. If your interested Jemstone.

Zombieneighbours wrote:

You have to ask? :)

Not really. I shall write some guidelines and post them.

Awesome. :)

Can't wait. :)

If you're happy to have me and so long as you're cool with my posting schedule being a bit weird (time difference and all that) I'd be keen to give it a look. Never done a play-by-post before, but there's a first time for everything...

Also I'll need to be pointed to the rules, I know a bit about the setting for Cyberpunk, but never really played it beyond some dabbling. Most of my cyberpunk gaming was d20 or Shadowrun (Jemstone, please contain your scorn, I know your feelings on Shadowrun :P), and these days I mostly play Interface Zero 2.0.

My scorn is directed at the system, not the setting, so never you fear. ;)

Goes back to waiting with bated breath and trying to figure out what/whom to play.

Tinkergoth and Zombieneighbours:
Super curious to know if you guys have checked out my PDF yet, and if so, what you think.

I've had a quick look, but haven't had time for a proper read yet. Is it the same as the one you PMd me a while ago, or has it been updated? If it's the same, then as previously mentioned, I love it :)

Ah, yeah, it is - but the last PM I got from you about it said you hadn't had time to read it. Glad you like it!

It's getting a redux for my players - more detail, more information - but that won't be put onto the uploaded file. Gotta keep some things off the internet! (for now)

Oh, I thought I'd sent another one saying I liked it. Sorry man.

Okay so here's the plan.

This game will the run using the C.P.2020 rules.

It will take inspiration from:

-Ghost in the Shell: Arise
-Accelerando
-Renaissance
-Moxyland
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution
-Neuromancer and Virtual Light.
-Altercarbon

The Metro looks super interesting by the way Jemstone.

Interested myself but I have all sorts of stuff coming up so I might have to simply sideline this time.

No worries whatsoever. You're stupendously busy. It happens. :)

Zombieneighbours wrote:

Yay! Thank you. I'm doing my best to make it familiar enough, yet also different enough, that it keeps people intrigued. So far my players are having a great time. :)

That reputation system is turning out to be a fantastic addition, since in Cyberpunk literature and genre fiction, your reputation is everything.

If people are looking for new Cyberpunk fiction, by the way, can I recommend Michael Shean's "Wonderland Cycle" books? I quite dig them.

Just checking in on the thread to make sure I didn't miss any posts in the Recruitment forums from ZN. :)

Recruitment .

*excitement*

Any on the theme of the effects of extreme wealth as the game says will be involved, may I recommend checking out Lazarus, a dystopian sci-fi comic set in a future where the world is ruled by incredibly rich families who each keep a 'Lazarus', a highly augmented family member who acts as spy, enforcer and assassin. Seemed relevant to the thread's interests

Hey guys. One interesting idea that has come up lately is using Red Markets as a system for cyberpunk gaming.

It is a near future economic horror game about life in a partial zombie apocalypse.

What makes it a really cool potential system for the mercenaries and guns style of cyberpunk is that it has a job negotiation mechanic and these really simple but deep economic mechanics. Kit has upkeep, you have to get to a point where your making a profit on jobs, and that sort of thing.

It also has a fair amount of cyberpunkish tech in it.

So anyone excited by the Cyberpunk 2077 news?

I'm psyched for it. I have no idea when it will be available, but I'm excited for it.

As someone with intimate knowledge of the setting, what did you think of the trailer?

(for instance, for me:
I could see all the little design and references in the tabletop, looked and felt right for the most part, but I do think there was a slight aesthetic disconnect with the first teaser.
The lighting, maybe it was the way it was cut. This is not criticism for the game itself, just my thoughts)

Indeed. E3 was basically:

1) Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out.
2) Here are some other games that may briefly entertain you between now and Cyberpunk 2077 coming out.

We should also have Cyberpunk Red (which takes the pen-and-paper storyline up to 2060) coming out around the same time as the video game as well.

It wont take it up to '77?

They ll release another source-book for that? (not that I mind..just curious)

I think Pondsmith was working on Red when he was recruited to help CDPR (he's been fairly hands-on as a producer on the game, flying back and forth from the US to Poland and back again), so work on the game slowed to a crawl and only recently got to a publishable state. It also sounds like they may be wary of spoilers for 77 in the RPG, so the RPG will only go up to 2060. They can then indeed release a new edition or sourcebook to take things up to 2077.

Interesting. I knew most of that, apart from the product approach (publishing '60 with the rules first, then just the metaplot for '77) so I thought CP Red was because of CDP Red, which seemed, a bad choice, to me as a name.

I guess it makes sense.

Though, on the other hand, even if they released a version with '77 at the same time as the game; I doubt it would have the impact they fear.
we are talking about different demographics (even if they overlap sometimes).
Also they could have just published it a few months after the video game.

In any case I can't wait to see what they do with the material (both mediums)

:]

PS: my smiley is a happy, full conversion, cyborg

My favorite settings for cyberpunk have always been shadowrun and rifts.

I play Shadowrun 5e and highly recommend learning it. (Also, "Bright" on Netflix is one of the best translations of the game's rules to the screen -- and the only one.)

Oh, check this out --> >Edit File<

imho Bright worked better than Shadowrun itself in the fusion of genres department.

Maybe -for me- urban mixes better with Magic than Cyber does.

Anyway back to you guys :)

Lets keep the CP talks going!

I will be trying FATEs version of Interface Zero this weekend btw

only the crossing paths section of the char gen is left to do now...

You think you’re ready. You’re not. You don’t even have a clue.

For over two decades, the Megacorporations have ruled the world
from their starscraper towers, enforcing control with armies of bots

And boostergangs roam the shattered, urban wilderness, and
endless partying rages 24-7 in the hottest clubs, sleaziest bars
and meanest streets.

Prepare yourself for the Postholocaust world. Learn to hack.

Btw I really liked Interface Zero 2.0 for fate.

But seeing as to how an Android Universe setting will be out soon for the Genesys rpg by FFG, lets renew this CP conversation!

Have people here tried the system? Would it work for Cyberpunk?

I get so many mixed opinions about Genesys
