Poor Mel Brooks. He hasn't made a decent movie since...when? Men in Tights was pretty funny.

But the Dracula movie sucked. And that was in 95!!

And where the hell is History of the World Part II?????

Baldwin would have rated her a harlot, which presumably makes Murdoch an abusive pimp.

Scarab Sages

Baldwin and Murdoch? I don't recall any characters like that in Mel's movies? Must have been High Anxiety. Nobody ever watches that one.

Holy cross-posting catastrophe Batdude!

Todays episode of Trollbattling was brought to you by the letter's D & G, and the number 3.141592653589

No, no, no.

1) Baldwin is secretly the superhero, Bloviator. (Don't let him start monologuing or your ears will explode.)

2) Murdoch has an imaginary dog Billy and is a top helicopter/airplane pilot.

Scarab Sages

But which Mel Brooks movie were they in?

Have a heart, Aberzombie, the guys well into his eighties!

I think it's safe to say he's retired.

Just count your blessings (1--Blazing Saddles, 2--Young Frankenstein, 3--Spaceballs(?)) and be happy.

Probably for the best. His comedy has not aged well.

No, not really. I'd guess he lost his edge in the early eighties when his brand of zaniness became cross-generational. There's a lot of Borscht Belt hamminess that, for better or worse, has been drained out of the American entertainment industry.

But there's still a lot of funny parts that make me laugh.

Or are you just trolling in the troll-parody thread?

Hee hee!

I was confused for a minute there, too!

I'm serious. The Borscht Belt hamminess is what has aged so poorly to me. Well that and the constant wink-and-nudge "I just made a joke, isn't that funny?" stuff. It's a taste thing, and I certainly appreciate his place in the history of American comedy, but even allowing for my extremely limited tolerance for zany I just find him more annoying or dull than entertaining.

I prefer vintage Woody Allen, myself.

Scarab Sages

The Inquisition!

You can't Torquemada anything!

Scarab Sages

Thank God for stunt doubles!

The part they edit out of History of the World when they show it on tv.

NSFW,MF!

His son is doing well, though. As a zombie aficionado, I loved World War Z. Here is Max's wiki.

Scarab Sages

I met Max and got him to sign my copy of the Zombie Survival Guide. he really was a nice guy. Just a a few weeks younger than me.

In far better news, rebekah brooks has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications, contrary to Section 1(1) Criminal Law Act 1977 and on suspicion of corruption allegations contrary to Section 1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1906.

She has since been released on bail.

Wrong thread. You're looking for the one that could use a bit of fire/acid.

There is never a moment that goes by when I couldn't use a bit more acid.
