Sadly, those are two or three years old. Last week I wore shorts to work (outdoors) four out of six days.

Yes... please explain to us Alaskans what this curiosity known as 'snow' is?

There is no feeling quite like spending the day, playing out in the snow with friends, family and significant others, then coming inside, changing into warm clothes, and snuggling up with some cocoa.

I much prefer a day with the window open, the autumn breeze in the air, sky slightly overcast but not raining. Cool, not cold, not hot. Preferably tinged with the smell of wood smoke (from a campfire or grill, not from a big wildfire). I really don't see the appeal in snow.

Snow is a mixed bag. It can be stunningly beautiful while it's falling or immediately after. It can be fun to play in, with snowball fights and such. With some foresight, you can even collect a big bowl of it and make snow ice cream.

On the other hand, it inhibits travel. You have to dig your car out, the roads have to get plowed, bad drivers become even more dangerous than normal, and so forth.

It's both wonderful and awful, at the same time. Unless you fail to engage it in its good facets, in which case all that's left is the negative.

Or, if you're like me, the good facets don't much appeal.

Wereas below 60 (maybe 50 if it's not too breezy) and Orthos freezes. Would much rather be hot than cold, any day of the year.

I'm sitting in my coat right now, despite being in my heated house.

For about 5 months out of the year, I am nearly always cold. I can be cold with the heater blowing directly on me. I've been cold in the summer. I've even managed to be cold in Arizona and Florida.

I can make it all the way to 50 without much discomfort, but much below that and I'm miserable.

I just walked outside wearing only gym shorts (no shoes, socks or shirt) in the 3 ft. snow I mentioned earlier to help clean out the truck before a trip to Anchorage (~300 mile, 6 hours, round trip) to pick up my Sister coming home from college.

It's a warm 19 degrees outside.

I would have worn my shoes, by my nephew decided that hiding uncle's shoes is a marvelously fun game.
