Add to this weird buildout idea - Grapple Witch

Advice

Played last night in a 3rd level game and I build a weird character out, wondered if anyone had any ideas for other ways to augment the concept.

Witch (Sea Hermit is the concept)
Venerable age category
Dump cha as much as possible
Dump wis as much as possible
Leave str very low (3 or 4 is fine after the -6 from age)
Leave dex semi low
Augment con some
Peg int through the roof, insanely high, as much as you can go

Human, +2 in int

Improved unarmed strike
Improved grapple (+2 grapple)
Prehensile hair (10 ft grapple reach using int for str)

King Crab familiar (+2 grapple) lives in a bucket of water. Starting gear includes a Handy Haversack (5 lb) to mitigate encumbrance due to the low Str.

Focus on touch spells with spell selection due to the hair.

I'm not totally set on which spell path thingy to take, and I'm not totally set on other Hexes, but I'm liking the Evil Eye - Cackle combo as my 2nd hex, and third feat (extra hex). I'm also wondering if there's anything else I'm missing. Not a lot of great optimization material on witch yet.

The Exchange

I think this is a hilarious idea. I have also heard Ice Titan say in another thread that he planned on using misfortune hex to constantly lock the opposing creature into a grapple.

This is what I like about the witch class, It has a lot of interesting options and features which make it distinct from other classes, while still maintaining a large utility for creating useful builds.

Dont forget the third level spell Strangling Hair. Has a longer range than the prehensile, and it has a good CMB (which sounds like it still benefits from Improved Grapple, though it wouldn't from Greater) based on your full level rather than your actual BAB.

As well, it doesn't give you the Grappled condition, meaning you can walk around while concentrating on it and keeping the target immobile.

You can't pin or move the target, but...

I've found it to be a VERY fun 3rd level spell, when you get to it.

HEXES
-------------------------------------------------
Prehensile Hair The witch can instantly cause her hair (or even her eyebrows) to grow up to 10 feet long or to shrink to its normal length, and can manipulate her hair as if it were a limb with a Strength score equal to her Intelligence score. Her hair has reach 10 feet, and she can use it as a secondary natural attack that deals 1d3 points of damage (1d2 for a Small witch). Her hair can manipulate objects (but not weapons) as dexterously as a human hand. The hair cannot be sundered or attacked as a separate creature. Pieces cut from the witch’s elongated hair shrink away to nothing. Using her hair does not harm the witch’s head or neck, even if she lifts something heavy with it. The witch can manipulate her hair a number of minutes each day equal to her level; these minutes do not need to be consecutive, but must be spent in 1-minute increments. A typical male witch with this hex can also manipulate his beard, moustache, or eyebrows.
-------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL ABILITIES
-------------------------------------------------
Bonus Feat Humans select one extra feat at 1st level.
Cantrips You can prepare a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, each day. These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.
Skilled Humans gain an additional skill rank at first level and one additional rank whenever they gain a level.
Strength Patron
Witch's Familiar You form a close bond with a familiar, a creature that teaches you magic and helps to guide you along your path. Your familiar also aids you by granting you skill bonuses, additional spells, and help with some types of magic. These special abilities apply only when you and your familiar are within 1 mile of each other. The familiar stores all the spells that you know.

Myeh... She's gonna die pretty quick if she's getting within 10 feet of bad dudes.

Couple issues.

1, to your benefit, is that the hair should be doing more damage: d3+9, as it uses strength and a half instead of just your strength (or in this case int), since its your only natural weapon.

2, I dont see how you are getting CMB +10. I am getting 6 int + 2 improved grapple. Where is the other two from? I'm probably just blind...

Awesome, keep the ideas coming.

Eruptive pustules is a great synergy to this build. A friend recommended getting a decanter of endless water so the crab can fill his own bucket- I thought that was a cool idea.

Strangling hair is confusing. It says it continues to act regardless of your actions, but it also has a duration of concentration. Does that mean I can do other stuff or not?

Ah yes, definately just blind.

So many cool familiar options out there.

beej, on Strangling Hair, I'm pretty sure it allows you to just move around while concentrating it, taking other actions which are not standard actions or spellcasting (which is specifically not allowed by the duration of concentration, if I remember right, which prevents quickening spells). So in general, just moving...

You're probably right, but that's crap spell wording if so.

Can you cackle as a move equiv?

If so, you could Fortune all your grapple rolls.

Yes, but

Fortune can only benefit a creature once a day.

I actually had a crazy idea that a Hexcrafter Magus who takes the prehensile hair Hex.

Uses Ant Haul spell.

Magus can now fly while holding the entire group in a tangle of hair, the hair is strong enough to hold them all and ant haul increases carry cap so magus not encumbered

moreover Magus can cast Force Hook Slam , and slam the entire party into the face of a creature dragging them along for the ride.

instant party relocation and no have to wait till your next turn to act like with dimension door.

fun fun

Slick idea out of combat, I don't know how many standard actions my current GM would make me take to pick up my entire party by my beard. Probably a standard action per party member, which means it's not so great in combat. Neat idea nonetheless.
