I slipped my second book in there before the preorder went away. If for some reason I don't get the second book, no big deal (so long as I'm refunded). My first book was ordered the day the preorders went up (back in March, I think?).

Either way, I CAN NOT WAIT for this. My only regret is that HeroLab will never get these monsters added unless someone spearheads a community project...

Clark, or any other employee, I purchased this yesterday (6th) as the option was still on the website.

From what I understand, someone forgot to take down the ability to preorder. Does that mean I will be refunded my money or will I still receive my book?

Thanks.

I spoke with Bill about this yesterday (that some people had concerns having ordered on the 6th) and he told me that as long as the website was up, working and taking orders that the order went through.

So you guys are good.

Ok, great. Thanks Chuck. And thanks to Dark Sasha for answering, as well.

I was actually wondering how high quality the binder will be for this book?

I am hearing it is going to be over 1000 pages, and I know with my PF CoreRulebook, it has had issues with the binder not lasting on it, and it's not even 600 pages.

I am hoping this will have a high quality binder for the book, especially considering how much it is and really don't want to be purchasing it again, if it will even be available to do so.

The Tome of Horrors Complete will be quality stitch-bound, think unabridged dictionary or encyclopedia for comparison. As for being over 1000 pages, I don't believe it will quite reach that many.

Even better if you can get some monks in a remote monastery to make you an illuminated copy all in latin in the vein of the Codex Gigas, aka, Devil's Bible.

Ok, thanks.

And as for addressing Clark, I only did so because he was the one who started this thread and thought he was one of the people involved in publishing the book. But I also did say "or any other employee" to cover my bases, as well.

Final page count will be 816 pages.

It's got to be in multiples of 16 for the printer as the stitch-bound page packets are 16 pages each and I'm fairly certain that the legal appendix will be longer than 4 pages. :)

Dammit, this sounds awesome. i thought i was keeping an eye on this by watching the paizo page for frog god. but it seems like i missed out. Will there be some of these up for order on paizo when it comes out? Even if its a limited amount? Since i would definitely love to have a chance at purchasing this.

Ebay will be your friend.I have the feeling that there will be some online retailers selling them right at release for a little more or possibly a little less than the release price.

I think that Greg mentioned earlier that there might be some available from Paizo's store. But don't quote me because I am not sure on that.

Otherwise BK is correct, Ebay would be your best bet.

So, Paizo is actually stepping in and ordering 100 TOH to sell via their shop?

RuyanVe wrote:

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the number's higher. With Paizo's newsletter, exposure would be high, which could potentially move more units than all the pre-orders. CToH is a huge support product for the game and is more material for Paizo themselves to include in their modules and APs, so I could see them encouraging such a huge book.

I suspect we won't get told how many, but I'd think that Paizo would be wise to order a bunch. Demand will be high even at that price point.

True, would be a smart, well should actually be an automatic, move for Paizo from an economic point of view.
I'm just thinking about all the fuss about preordering at a ~10% discount until July, 5th (and the high shipping costs to Europe).

Will the benefit of pre-ordering be nullified by Paizo offering the book? Would shipping have been cheaper, if my order would have been handeled by them?

I am still looking forward getting the book, but the "Hey, I am kinda special, because I got that ultra-awesome book, where only 234 (?) printed ones exist all over the world"-feeling went away (if my speculation is true, that is).

Ah, well, again fooled by advertisement.

Ruyan.

I have no regrets pre-ordering even if Paizo offers some for sale. Because the reality is, there wouldn't be a book if significant number of us hadn't pre-ordered. Besides, even if 1,000 books are printed, that's still a very small run. By next year this thing will be a collector's item. In 10 years this thing will rare indeed.

To be fair. They never advertised it would be a small print run. All that was said is that once preorders are made and a handful of extra's made, that what ever the print run was, that's it. No reprints ever, so if their is 100, 1000 or 10000. That will be all there will ever be and that was all that was promised.

I am sure Bill would love if 1 million people preordered. Nor could anyone blame him.

I am quite sad that this came at a time when I was financially unable to afford this, it will be a time before I'm able to even afford the PDF. A Collector's item to end all collector's items for gamers.

RuyanVe wrote:

Did Bill even know that Paizo was going to order any of these when he setup his pre-order process?

It's not like he advertised that he wasn't going to allow anyone to order this in bulk.

The only "limit" on this "limited" edition is the number of pre-orders - and for what it's worth, I don't think that the word "limited" was used in any official advertising for this product.

Be disappointed at your unfounded speculation if anything, not at advertisements that never alluded to said speculation.

You're still getting the book, and I'm going to bet that it's still going to be a small print run, compared to a lot of other stuff (I wouldn't be surprised if it's a smaller print run than any of the other ToH books).

Key word is WAS. Pre-order (and ordering in general, at least from FGG) is done. Dunno how many Paizo picked up (assuming that's what all the hinting is about) but they'd be your best shot now.

Yeah i know. I debated getting this one earlier, but the international shipping is killing me.

I'm very interested to see at what price paizo and certain other resellers will offer this.

Hopefully, the mysterious posting's meaning will be made public soon :-)

He ad-libbed it the first time he did the big speech. They liked it so much that they re-worked some things and integrated it into the show. (Keep in mind that they don't shoot episodes in chronological order and it might also have been a rehearsal ad-lib.)

Ah, well it was the mini-series.

I know that Gaeta's 'pity-frak' line to Starbuck was an ad-lib, and they decided to keep it. also AJ singing the Stump-song came about when they found out about his singing voice. (He also did the opera vocals for Caprica). It's amazing the things that sneak in to productions, kind of like books too ;-) (in a vain attempt to meander back on topic.)

I just noticed the page the other day was sold out on the pre-orders, very nice. Especially since the company feared they might not sell that many.

Congratz!

Can't wait for the PDF. I'm hoping to get some inspiration for my homebrew from the free dungeon suggestions or just reading the info on the creatures.

Three cheers for Lisa...Paizo just upped the print run a great deal. We are partnering on this (offcial news coming soon from Lisa and Jeff) on the Pathfinder version only. Lisa wanted to ensure that more people would have a shot at getting one--and she stepped up and helped make it happen.

It will still be a one time only print run, but the Paizo store will have copies of the Pathfinder version. To be clear, ONE PRINT RUN EVER, just printing a more copies for direct sale through Paizo. Essentially, Paizo placed an order for the books. Once again the company that saved our game steps up.

The SW version remains gone, gone, gone, and once the Paizo store is out, so are the Pathfinder versions.

Lisa and I discussed pricing, and my understanding is that she will honor the pre-order price and the pdf copy w/ orders as well.

I cannot say enough how much these guys do for the hobby.

Total numbers I don't have yet (web guy on vacation until next week); best guess is around 500 SW and 1500 PF versions will be printed, all inclusive, including comp copies, staff copies, prize copies, and the dozen or so I am going to stockpile for convention prizes etc. years from now. I planned to overprint each by about 50 or so in any case, but those are not likely to ever go on sale. A couple of stores ordered copies (like 6 stores worldwide I think)of about 10 each, and those numbers are included above.

I'll let folks know. These suckers are gonna be pretty hard to get. Mark my words...Ebay in 2 years will be 2-3x cover.
