I love dice. I really don't have any cool dice at the moment but I hope to buy some soon.

Do you have a really cool set of dice?
Do you have a cool set of dice on a wishlist?

Post those here for a little dice show and tell.

Dwarven Metal Brushed Steel set.

They're beautiful, have a good heft, and are excellent for throwing at unruly players. >:3

Many years ago I was thinking it would be so cool to have a set of metal dice.
Now I have them and they are by far my favorite ones.
"Normal" dice don't feel right now, as they are too light in comparison.
I don't even look for new dice anymore and my old favorite sets are all jealous, stuck in their bag.

The only trouble is I can't roll my d20 anywhere I like. Too much risk of table damage. :) A good dice tray solves that problem.

It may not be what you're looking for (since you can't use them to roll for numerical values), but there's a collectible dice game called Dragon Dice (http://www.dragondice.com) that's made entirely of colorful, fantasy-themed dice. Each die, in its own game, counts as a unit in an army, so all of them have one side that shows what that unit is- so there's a ton of dwarf dice, goblin dice, and there's even Umber Hulks, Medusas, and Beholders (and tons of other fantasy creatures). I've used them as minis for years.

I also like the Crystal Shard dice for their look and easier rolling.

Monster dice.

Wow, those were some neat videos. I always take anything that could be a sales pitch with a grain of salt, but I have to say that I learned a few things about dice.

Now I am going to have to take out my jewelry tools and measure my dice. I need to see witch ones are "lucky."

Along these same lines, in addition to the Dwarven Metal dice, I also like the Dwarven Stone dice. Problem is, for the 16mm dice (the "standard" size of most gaming dice), they can be super expensive!

I'm a dice junkie. I can't help it. I love dice. I've got two or three hundred, I think (and that's a pittance compared to some collections). I mostly buy Chessex dice these days, as that's the brand most of the stores carry around here. I have several sets of Gamescience die from back when I first started playing, too.

I got some new dice for Father's Day, and they're great for killing PCs! lol

Anyone remember this thing?

I must admit I picked one up back in the 80's. Used it for a couple months and went back to using actual dice.

A friend is buying me a set of dice in payment for some figure painting I did for her. When searching for something cool she found these. Too expensive for the payment, but one day I might get a set. My players might get a bit upset if I throw them though.

Shapeways has TONS of dice, almost all of them designer dice that are as much art as they are game accessories. The price is due to they type of process they use to make them. They don't have a type of plastic that would make the dice really great to play with, so the stainless steel option is the best for functionality. The stainless steel is also very expensive.

Here is a good list of what you would find in Shapeways:

What is really neat is the variety of dice that you will probably never use. D50, D48, D120, and many others are easy to find there.

Has anyone come up with a decent use for the d30?

Back in 1st edition days, our DM ruled that if you rolled a 20 to hit, you got to use a D30 for all attack rolls until you missed/encounter ended. Other than that, not really.

Goodman Games' "Dungeon Crawl Classics Adventure module #47: Tears of the Genie" made use of many of Gamescience's "odd-ball" dice (d3, d5, d7, d14, etc.), by utilizing them for the various wandering monster tables within the adventure...

I have seen them being used to create random DC. The GM was really not sure what to set a DC at and rolled his die.

My friend and I were talking about creating a system that used obscure dice like D30, D24, D50, etc. Sort of like how Alternity used additional 20s for their checks, the system we talked about would upgrade or downgrade the die you would use depending upon the situation. It was really just theory crafting, but a fun idea nonetheless.

Anyone selling dice that are customizable? Such as a 4 sided D2 or a 12 sided D6?

I've got to say, the best looking dice I have seen are the Q-Workshop dice, including several sets specifically for Pathfinder AP's. I just looked at some of those Shapeways dice upthread and...wow. A little out of my price range, but...wow.

When it comes to playing Arkham Horror, I use the black & green Q-Workshop set and nothing else - not even the dice that came with the game, I won't touch them.

Unfortunately, almost all of the other dice that Q-Workshop make I either don't like the look of at all or I can't actually read them well enough for it to not slow me down during game time.

Other than that, I use Gamescience nearly exclusively (and once I actually order 10d10 of the same color and 10d6 of the same color it will be entirely exclusive-save-arkham horror)
