Rise of the Runelords - PBP Recruitment

I'm looking to start a PBP Rise of the Runelords Adventure. I've recently started a Serpent's Skull PBP and I'm enjoying the experience so much and I'm enough of a masochist, that I'd like to start another.

Some Things You Should Know

To start, please download the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide if you haven't already. The information therein is critical in understanding the adventure and crafting an appropriate backstory for your character.

Role playing is more important to me than roll playing. I play for stories more than mechanics. That said, this is a traditional AP so completely unoptimized characters aren't really appropriate. But don't feel the need to eek out every point possible from your build.

Like other GMs, I'd like at least one post per day from the players - including weekends. And, of course, if you're going to be away, just let the group know. Depending on how long you're gone, you may need to be ok with the GM or a fellow player taking over your character until your return.

Finally, maps and other relevant documents will be uploaded to Dropbox and/or Google Docs. This is a friendly and easy way to share the files across multiple platforms.

Character Creation
1) 20-Point Buy, 1st Level

2) Core races and Published Core Sources only (Core, APG, UM)

3) Two traits. It is not necessary to pick one from the campaign traits.

4) No evil characters.

5) Max HP at first level (roll thereafter).

6) Average starting gold

7) No words of power

How to Apply:

Rather than just post a character concept, I'd like applicants to answer the following questions. After that, begin interacting with each other as a patron or employee of The Rusty Dragon. If you're selected, we can adjust your story as needed.
1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?
2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

Role-Playing Introduction:
It's the evening before the Swallowtail Festival. There is an air of excitement in the Rusty Dragon Inn. Friends and strangers alike are gathered to share drinks, stories and predictions for tomorrow's activities. The inn's owner, Ameiko Kaijitsu, is hurrying around the tavern, greeting guests and barking orders at her employees. Cyrdak Drokkus, owner of Sandpoint Theater, has just announced that until he passes out from drinking too much, the evening's drinks are all on him. As he was a large fellow, there is little doubt the wine would flow freely for quite some time.

I will be accepting applications until Friday at the latest. If there are enough solid applicants, I will close the recruitment earlier.

Good luck everyone!

1) I was banished from the Hermean Isle for failing the test for citizenship so I wander trying to find my place in the world. Obviously I am a visitor so I happened to be walking in this area.
2) "Copperscale"(My Eidolon who looks like a gold wyrmling) heard about it and insisted we come along even though I myself am a little shy. He however loves to mingle.
3) I am a "battle summoner" as in I am gonna tank with a few buffs and hit things pretty hard while my eidolon will support with flanks and eventually air support. Outside of combat, Copper will be the face as he is very talkative and social, though I will speak up when I feel the need to.
4) I am going to go summoner until I qualify for dragon disciple as I unlock my draconic heritage as I am distantly related to the gold dragon Mengkare who rules Hermea. So I will be very strong and tough eventually.
5) Since I failed the test, I have been trying to change and grow so I can find a place to belong since I don't belong in the place where I was raised.

Rohan walks into the Rusty Dragon after a long day's walk with Copperscale right beside him. Some of the patrons stop what they are doing when they notice a what looks like small gold wyrmling with a single copper scale with a gem on it etched on his forehead walk into the building. However, they quickly resume their business. Copperscale runs up ahead and leaps onto a a seat at an empty table and quickly orders drinks and some food for the both of them as Rohan slowly catches up.

"Free drinks you say? Oh this human so generous. We will make him regret his offer. 2 goblets of the finest wine please and my friend will have some honey mead to start." Copperscale says with a draconic smile while Rohan shakes his head as if to playfully shame the little one."

Greetings everyone!

I am at work at the moment so I can't put up character stats til this evening around 8pm pacific time. I can however give concept and answers to GM_Todd's questions.

I present for your consideration: Tosh Besnik, 31 year-old aspiring bard.

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?

I live in Sandpoint and have done for 2 years. Tosh is a poet at heart but he has a meek spirit, and can't yet bring himself to share his talent with others. He has spent his adult life moving from city to city, learning the culture and the stories.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

Tosh loves culture, civilization, and people. Any excuse to make merry is a top priority.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

Tosh, starting as a fighter, will contribute reliable combat prowess (by the grace of the dice gods). As he progresses, he will aid his allies with song and narrative bolsering their courage and stirring their hearts to great deeds.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

Tosh will begin with a level or two of fighter and then move into bard. He will fight either with a rapier, rapier and dagger, or rapier and buckler. Eventually, he may become a duelist or arcane trickster. This will depend on how he grows.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

Tosh is a passionate, fun loving person. He wants nothing more than to share his songs and stories with people, but he has a terrible fear of rejection. His confidence will grow as he perorms, aids his friends, and succeeds in combat. I intend him to grow into an advocate and diplomat for the party. Moreover, he will inspire by word and deed alike.

I really shouldn't, but since my previous Runelords pbp ended before it really began, I've got a character ready to go. Therefore...

Yay GMT! I'll have something up a bit later tonight.

I present Vors Malcroft, paladin of Erastil.

1. Why are you in Sandpoint?

Vors lives with his younger sister in Whistler's Grange, a farming community that lies about a day's walk south of Sandpoint. Vors is here to attend the festival with his sister. Hard as life has been for them in recent years, he felt they deserved some fun. Also, there's the dedication of the new chapel to attend. It's important that the town has a spiritual center once again.

2. Motivations

See answer to question 1.

3. Contributions

As a holy warrior of Old Deadeye, Vors knows the importance of community, whether in the field of harvest or the field of battle. His sword arm and his faith will help defend allies and strike down the enemy.

4. Mechanics

I plan on keeping Vors as a single class throughout the adventure. It seems the best way to reap the powerful benefits of the class. His bond will be a weapon rather than a mount, likely his bow given his chosen deity.

5. Storywise, Vors is concerned with protecting his remaining family and community. As events unfold, he'll likely realize that in order to protect those he cares about, he'll have to leave them behind to confront the greater evils looming on the horizon.

If chosen, I'll adjust his equipment accordingly.

I think I am going to make a Varisian Wizard. I'll have him up in a little while but just wanted to throw it out there.

This is Darksmokepuncher's Alias. Backstory and Stat block will appear magically this evening.

Grand Lodge

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?

I am a visitor to the town of Sandpoint. I am a treasure hunter of sorts, and I have a great interest in Thassilonian artifacts. I have spent a good part of my life studying about Thassilon, and have gravitated to Sandpoint to explore more about the Old Light.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

I fully intend to taste the food and drink that will accompany the festival. Being a bit religious (patron deity - Sarenrae, focusing on the idea of redemption and honesty, though offerings are regularly made to Gozreh, Desna, and Cayden)I feel that it is duty to celebrate the dedication of the newly rebuilt cathedral.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

He is a fighter, lightly armored and mobile, so he can deal damage and tank a bit. He will be able to be a conduit through which you, as the GM, can provide information about Thassilon that I will share with the party. Also, being Neutral Good, I will be quick to come to the aid of those in danger. (PC and otherwise.)

I also intend to craft weapons and/or armor for the group.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

I intend to eventually take Master Craftsman (weapons) though I fully believe that I should only be able to achieve mundane enhancements, such as keen, throwing, etc.

I also intend for him to be an iconic fighter, be able to deal a steady amount of damage, and soak a decent amount as well. I don't optimize well, but I should be able to hold my own.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

I intend to become a hero, that people will look up to. I also want to be the kind of fighter that is dangerous with any weapon, not just his "favored" one, and build a reputation as such. Becoming a master weaponsmith eventually will lead to my character creating gifts for the other PCs, especially if they don't use the magic weapons that might be commonly found.

Aeshuura dusts himself off as he stands at the entrance to the Rusty Dragon. The dust of the road kicks up a cloud as he brushes his traveler's half cloak and studded leather. Listening to the sounds of laughter and conversation, Aeshuura opens the door with a smile.

Looking around the room, his gaze settles at the bar. Moving up to the barkeep, he says, "Ho there, I'll be needing a room and a hot meal, if you have it?"

Sooooo tempting....

Interesting. I'll go through the players guide and see what I can produce.

Alias of Sir Jolt presenting Sorin Nicusor, Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light) of Shelyn. It's just the Stat Block right now; I want to finish reading Faiths of Purity before I post his detailed background.

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?

Local, though I'm just returning to the city after being away a few years for my training.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

Being able to arrive in time for the festival was just luck. I have no living family anymore and this will be an excellent chance to see who's still around and who's moved on.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

He's a close combat Paladin though spells have been sacrificed to take the Warrior of the Holy Light abilities.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

Staying as a Paladin. How exactly I develop him will depend on what other characters comprise the group.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

He's come back home to resettle even though his last living relative, hs father, has passed away. He knows the town has suffered through some hard times and wants to do all he can to improve things.

Submitting a 1st level human ranger:

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?

Borhald is a visitor to the city. He was born in a forest village north of the Churlwood. His father was a ranger of Korvosa's renown Sable Company, his mother the daughter of a Linnormian viking who fled south to escape a blood-feud. Thus he is basically Chelaxian in appearance. His father taught him the use of weapons, and how to live off the land, and on coming of age he naturally followed the path of the huntsman... although his mother's warrior blood led him to prefer swordplay to archery. He makes a living as a hunter and caravan guide/guard in the rural areas of Varisia.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

He was hired as a guard on a caravan headed for Sandpoint, and it seemed a good excuse to visit the city, and to spend his coin.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

Good melee and wilderness skills mainly. Should also make a good scout and fair archer.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

Basic two-weapon ranger build, emphasizing both strength and dexterity. I plan for him to be single class. Enemy choices would be goblinoids and giants, others as the campaign calls for.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

Borhald is a rough and ready woodsman, who is driven by the wanderlust inherited from both sides of his family. He feels at his best while traveling, and wishes to see as much of Varisia, and indeed the world (particularly its forests, rivers, and mountain meadows) as he can. He also has a strong moral core, and can rarely help himself from championing the perceived underdog. He should grow into the kind of hero known for altruism and both wilderness and combat skills: traversing any distance to rescue kidnapped villagers, wreak vengeance on rampaging humanoids, or hunt down wanted criminals just because it's the right thing to do.

*******

A tall man in a dusty green cloak over leather and homespun garb, a bow and quiver on his back, enters the Dragon. His eyes widen at the small draconic creature sitting at the bar. He casts his hood back to show a youthful face topped with rough-shorn dark hair. He gives the tavern-mistress a small embarrassed bow as she greets him, then elbows his way to the bar to claim his free drink. After taking a long pull from his ale-jack, he looks around the crowded common room.

Whoa. Great submissions already, folks. Keep them coming!

One quick note: I want a rogue in this campaign. Someone should probably submit one.

Oh, and probably a monk. Just because I have a soft spot for monks.

Carry on.

Is there a particular reason you want a rogue? Stealth/subterfuge, trap handling, or are things just asking for a sneak attack?

Rohan Drake wrote:

All of those, plus I like the flavor. From a story perspective. Not a culinary one.

Thinking of a Wizard/Monk/Arcane Archer will have up in the next day or so.

I can respect that. But if it helps, I was going to turn Copperscale into a scout eventually(the skilled evolution is awesome), but having a real rogue would be good too. I know some Purple Worms that would disagree with you on that last part though.

Is it to late for me to submit a fighter?

Of course not! But you'll want to make your fighter the best it can possibly be - there are already a couple of meatshields in the thread.

Okay, I like a challenge, I'll fix him up and post him in a bit.

GM Todd! I forgot, are you using character traits? Because Ash is made with the intent to take the trait that gives the +1 with Know (arcana) and always class skill.

Hey Aeshuura, I looked at your character and he seems cool. But he seems to have too many points. By my math he seems to have a 22 point buy.

You may want to rethink your stats then.

GM_TODD,

I decided to switch Tosh up a bit. He's now a bard. He will take at least 1 level of rogue to round out his skills. There are already a few fighter applicants. (Best of luck Shanosuke!)

If I had to guess though, I'll plan him 4 levels of rogue and 16 levels of bard.

Here is the current stat block. I'm brooding on a backstory at the moment. I'll have it done soon.

Still working out a couple backstory thoughts, but the basic stats are there and the answers to your questions are here:

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?

Vestad is a fourth generation cleric of Sarenrae. His great grandfather carried copies of the "Birth of Light and Truth" from the Empire of Kelesh to Cheliax. His sons created small temples there. Vestad's father was sent to Varisia (he travels the countryside tending to poor, rurual people) and Vestad has travelled to Sandpoint in the hopes of establishing a following there. Vestad has traveled much of Varisia and considers it his home. That said he also considers himself a citizen of the Empire of Kelesh, though he has never seen this homeland.
2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

Vestad heard there is a local temple and wishes to see it and the people. Though the celebration is not dedicated to Sarenrae in particular it will be good to see if the people here are devout and if so whom they serve.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

Vestad is an able healer. He can be, but need not be, the party "face" (he might prefer being a confidant of the person who assumes that role). He can also dish out fire damage fairly well.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

Stay cleric. Grab a few summoning feats to cover what needs to be covered. Stick with a strong healing focus, with more buffing and less direct healing as he progresses.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?

Vestad considers himself duty bound to represent Sarenrae. He has never considered any option other than a humble preacher who might occasionally lend aid in a fight, but more often after it. Becoming a hero would require a change in perspective and some serious thinking about his role in life. It would require a tough conversation with his family when he breaks with the traditional way of doing things.

Which is why the Intimidate was +5, instead of +6.

Dargail Bogan was born in Janderhoff. He was the son of a craftsman and spent much of his youth studying the manipulation of metals, and working with his father in the forge. Though he had a greater talent for combat. Occasionally Dargail will take a job as a mercenary to perfect his skills at combat. He Comes to Sandpoint to attempt to trade some of his goods and possibly take on a merc job or two from time to time. This time is no different. He stops by the Rusty Dragon as it is his favorite place to hear the latest gossip and keep an ear out for any jobs he might want look into.

Dargail is always looking for a good time and when he hears about the festival, well he figured it would be fun to join in the festivities.

Dargail is a two weapon fighter who is good at fighting multiple enemies. He will be a meatshield.  Not much else can be done with a fighter. But I really want to take this character far. I’m trying to build him to be good at weapon making as well. I’m desiging him to be really good at wielding two waraxes. A personality perk he contributes is his Enduring bravery and optimism. He’s really curious and loves to explore. He is fond of good drinking buddies and will likely want to sit and drink with any who are willing. He will be a fighter all they way. I expect him to be able to volley attacks at high to hit rates with his powerful weapons. I will possible splash some skill feats to give him some non combat ability. He is tough and will likely be able to handle most physical challenges. He also has spell resistance which makes him more resistant to magic. All in all, I think he will be a great addition to the party.

I've been thinking for the last few days if I should apply or not. Still pondering a good concept.

Ash, yes, I am using traits. Each character gets two.

Brin and Allia, your desire to join is flattering. I'm glad I haven't inspired a different reaction during our brief time together.

One more note: I'm noticing a startling number of humans in both this and my previous recruitment thread. Do no other races inspire folks these days? We only have one non-human!

Please note: Racial diversity will have a bearing on my selection.

Oh you mean "OMG Not HIM again! *runs away screaming and hides under the bed*" ? :)

I was thinking of a Gnome or Halfling, possibly a rogue, but I'm not sure.

Sandpoint doesn't seem large enough (around 1200 citizens) to be home to thieves or burglars, as everyone knows everyone else, the risk is just too high. It also doesn't seem to be a trade hub (at least I didn't find anything) that preying on travelers and merchants is a worthwile profession.
Of course I could be there because the festival draws alot of people who'd be easy targets.

I have switched and decided to make an Elf wizard so there is some diversity there. :)

I think people tend to take human a lot because they're simpler, players love extra feats and it's a safe choice when you don't know who else will be in the party. How many players are you looking for, btw?

If diversity is important I have no problems re-making Sorin as a dwarf (a dwarf Paladin of Shelyn should be interesting) though I'll have to scrap the backstory I was working on. I'll get the stat block up when I get home tonight and the backstory sometime after. I'll probably have to re-answer the questions as well.

Liberty's Edge

Here is my application. A one armed Half-Elven Summoner.

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?
A local Half-Elven man, albeit one scarred from a bad start as an adventurer. Thinking his magic able to defeat any obstacle, she joined up with a band of mercenaries looking to find fame and fortune in plundering a Dragon's lair. The job was supposed to be an easy in and out, but bad information and a possible snitch led to a surprised attack by a very jealous pair of White Dragons that sprung a well laid out trap. He lost an arm in the process and barely escaped with his life, she has led a quieter life since, but someday, she vowed, she'd be back.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?
As a local she is in town helping to prepare for the festival, having taken up residence here she tries to do what she can with his handicap without resorting to magical aid.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?
Support class. He would contribute some combat support via melee or ranged due to spells and Eidolon.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
Summoner, with the Synergist class theme to replace the lost arm with his Eidolons. He would not do this in town for fear of being seen as some kind of monster, but should she regain his adventuring spirit she would call on his Eidolon for support.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Rekindling his adventuring spirit, and growing over time into a powerful summoner. He could tip either way in terms of being a righteous defender of the weak, or someone a little more narrow minded and self serving depending on the group she joins up with. He does have a good heart though, but might take time to get that aspect out again.

The rogue could be a bandit/highwayman or possibly a detective working for the local constabulary (if you want something other than the ubiquitous "steal everything not nailed down" type of rogue).

I completely understand the love for the humans. I think I am just surprised how many there are now that I'm on the GM side of a PBP. In real-life games, it at least seems that's there more diversity. I think not knowing your other players is probably a big issue, like you said.

I'm looking for five - MAYBE six – players. I wouldn't worry about changing your race unless you actually want to. While racial diversity will have a bearing, strong stories trump racial choices.

To be fair, humans are the majority in the region. It is much easier for me to select a human, since they have expanded the human ethnicities. I would play something else, but it is Ash's connection to Thassilon that drives the character. Much like people that claim Azlanti heritage, he is Varisian and wishes to discover more about his ancestors.

I understand your wish for diversity though.

I have a few interesting story ideas for a dwarf paladin of Shelyn (now that I've thought of it).

In any case, I'll write him up and if his concept and story appeal to me more than the human then I'll switch. Otherwise, I'll just stay as is.

Hey GM Todd, not sure if I'm too late to throw my hat into the ring. If your looking for a sly Halfling rogue scoundrel, looking for a better life than living on the street or joining the sczarni, I'm your man. Looking for way to earn some coin and fame to one day start up a legitimate business and employe others that have unique skills that would otherwise end up on the bad end of a lawkeepers blade. Or worse.

Let me know if you have enough room left, and if this character is interesting enough. Then I can expand further.

I actually noticed that too. That's why I tried making a Dwarf. I'm not used to running a non human but I think it's going to be fun. Believe me, I was heavily considering human. Dwarven Fighter just seems like a good choice though.

Tosh Besnik grew up Varisian. His family roamed town to town and city to city, never staying too long.

As a boy, Tosh’s most complete memories take place in Varisia’s main metropolises: Magnimar, Korvosa, and Riddleport. These bastions of civilization proved an excellent source of income for Tosh’s family of performers and tradesmen. Ioulia, Tosh’s mother was a famous seer and fortuneteller while his father Yevgeniy delighted adults and children alike dancing with Mormo the bear.

Tosh developed an excellent voice from a young age and quickly learned that a few verses of a well sung story could put food on the table for a week. Thus, he began working at an early age, singing the tune to which his father and the bear could dance.

When he came of age, Tosh’s voice changed. It cracked and winced when he strained to reach those golden high notes. His father wanted to send him away in anger, but his mother prophesied that Tosh would undertake a harrowing journey. He would learn the ways of men, how to stir their hearts and minds and, in the end, he would become a legendary bard of both Varisia and forgotten Thassilonia.

With a heavy heart and a soaring spirit, Tosh began his tour of Varisia. Around fifteen years later, Tosh passed the gates of Sandpoint. He remains there to this day, singing for his supper in a rich baritone voice.

There are so many ways this character can grow. I really would like to see it happen naturally as the story unfolds. I do know that he will be primarily a bard who empowers his allies. I can see him heading down the rogue's path but I can also see him manifest the power of prophesy and go into Sorcerer with maybe the dreamspun bloodline. In any case, I'm just excited for the chance to play this AP. I know Tosh will be a valuable asset as he can heal, bolster his allies, doom his enemies, and handle a blade.

Ok here we go.

Belgretor Lightfoot, halfling rogue and cutpurse

1. Why are you in Sandpoint? Are you a local or a visitor to the city?
Belgretor is a visitor who has just recently arrived in Sandpoint with a merchant's caravan that he met a few days earlier.

2. What are your motivations for attending the Swallowtail Festival?

He heard about the festival and decided to be there, as such occations present him with many opportunities for his favorite hobby. Spontanous wealth-redistribution. And due to the many visitors and strangers, one more will not draw too much attention.

3. What will your character contribute to the group?

trapfinding and disabling, general sneakyness, and of course sticking the pointy end of his weapon into the bad guys.

4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?

Even though I'll start with a one-handed build most likely over the course of time, I'll pick up the TWF feats. I plan to stay single-class rogue for now, but who knows.

5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
His main goal is to live a comfortable life with as little actual work as possible.

RP:

At one of the tables at the wall, the little halfling grinned wide over his face as the large guy announced that he'd pay all the drinks from now on. This couldn't be any better, all he had to do now was wait.
In a little bit most in here would be so drunk they wouldn't notice if a stone troll would try to empty their purses, much less a halfling.

But till then it meant blending in, and so he joined into the shouts of joy over the announcement and the following laughters and ordered his own mug of ale. No sense in passing free drinks up after all.

I'd like to submit a character for this. I'll have something worked up soon. If you don't mind me asking, when were you thinking about starting this because I'm going to be with out internet from Friday until Tuesday. If that's to much of an inconvenience let me know and I'll pull my application.

It's not too late for anyone to submit and mathpro, that's fine. We'll be finishing up the character sheets this weekend and finalizing everything. Not being around until next week won't hurt your chances.

Here's the list of applicants I have so far - be sure to let me know if I've missed anyone.

imimrtl - Elven/Varisian Wizard
Rohan Drake – "Tank" Summoner
Tosh Besnik – Bard/Rogue
Dargail – Dwarf Fighter
Vestad - Cleric
Borhald – Ranger
Vors Malcroft – Paladin of Erastil
Aeshuura – Fighter
Sorin Nicusor – Paladin of Shelyn
Iron-Dice - Halfling Rogue
Belgretor Lightfoot - Halfling Rogue
Winterwalker - Half-Elf Summoner

Sorry for the random order, but it was difficult to sort through the aliases and the actual characters. Did I miss anyone?

Liberty's Edge

Creating a sheet now for my Summoner, will post again in the Inn once I have it 100%.

Tosh watches the Rusty Dragon filling with people from behind a thin cotton curtain.

This is turning out the be quite a crowd.

With a whispered prayer to Cayden Caliean,"Grant me the presence to hold their attention." Tosh drains his cup and steps through the curtain.

The crowd hushes in anticipation and all eyes fall on Tosh. A tall man, Tosh's smile is wide and welcoming even beneath a thick, dark gotee. His eyes shine from beneath well groomed brows. Thick curls strain against a patterned headscarf prison.

Tosh wears stripped trousers in alternating brown and green that plunge down behind knee-high leather boots. A burgundy poet's shirt hangs off his thin frame, restrained by a handome vest of thick, tanned leather. Around his waist are two sashes, twisted around eachother in gold and green. A thin sword belt perches atop the sashes and suspends a stunning rapier.

He carries a well-tended, slightly worn mandolin. He strums lightly, filling the hall with sweet, reverberating sound. Then silence. Then he sings. The song is in Thassilonian and, since most people do not speak the language, it quickly becomes a pleasant background melody.

Tosh nods to Ameiko as if to say, [i]"Don't worry, there will be no unnecessary violence. As long as I keep playing, they'll be calmer.

Having entered the tavern to hang up a few signs advertising his services as scribe and animal handler, Nelrem caught the mans proclamation of free drinks all night. Having just a touch of trouble one-handedly tacking up a 'For Hire' sign on Ameiko's board. The sign is an artsy piece, full of color and design, and what services he has to offer.

He's distracted after hearing the 'drinks on me' proclamation and angles his way to an empty table or barstool. Swiveling his body around with his one remaining arm he places his first of many drink orders for the night, leaving the remaining stacks of paper off to one side of the table.

To a barmaid, or waitress "A glass of your finest if you please. Looks like this is going to be my only stop tonight, with a generous patron such as that one." Nelrem points to the theater owner, and smiles at the waitress warmly.[/b]

Faunra lives in Sandpoint currently and has been there for the last decade. Before that she was home in the Mierani Forest with her parents. She struck out to Sandpoint in order to help support her family. She has to work at the Rusty Dragon Inn before the festival begins so she figured she would stay in town, having just been home about 6 months before that. With all the extra guests, Ameiko Kaijitsu expressed the need for her to be available if anything comes up at the inn. Faunra has the ability to enhance healing magic as well as use her beautiful voice to help her fellow party members. Her mother taught her how to use a whip extremely well so her standard battle tactic will be to trip with her whip and then use to move around the battle field when able. She will also entertain on the long lonely nights spent camping in the wilds. As of right now(this might change) she’s going to stay straight bard as I’m not seeing anything that is really worth dipping into. From a story perspective she needs to discover her own personality and learn to stand on her own two feet. While she lives on her own she still feels like she’s her parents little puppet and she longs to prove to her parents that she is her own person.

RP:

Faunra is hurrying around the floor in the Tavern giving people drinks and food. The extra people showing up for the festival tomorrow was making her extra busy tonight and it doesn’t help that the other barmaid was late. Seeing the man walk in and sit down at an empty table she smiles as she approaches him. Hearing his request for a glass of their finest she repliesYes sir be right there with your ale. My name is Faunra by the way and I'll do my best to take care of you, as you can see we're a little understaffed. she said and then laughed a little Yes...he's one of the regulars here at the Rusty Dragon and don't worry he handles his liquor quite well so you'll get a few drinks before he's out for the night she said before she rushed to the bar. Thankfully she had sometime before she was needed on stage and she looked at the bartender. One dwarven ale on the double please she said trying to collect her frazzled thoughts. Once the ale was brought to her she serves it to the customer Is there anything else you'll be needing from me? If there is she will get it for him, otherwise she tends to the needs of anyone else in the bar. I always hate the night before the Swallowtail Festival she thinks as she rushes from one end of the room to the other.

As the other entertainer ends his set Faunra sighs, puts down the tray she was carrying, and tries to straighten her hair as best as possible before taking the stage. Good set Tosh She says as the man leaves the stage. She steps up onto the stage and clears her throat before speaking. Good evening ladies and gentlemen my name is Faunra and some of you regulars know that I sing here at the Rusty Dragon but what I am doing tonight is not for you. Tonight I am dedicating my work to those of you from out of town, so come in, relax, and enjoy. She smiles at the croud as she talks and when done she clears her throat again before starting to sing this song. After a little bit she starts walking around as she sings, running her fingers over the faces of a few of the bar's regulars.

Perform Sing(if needed):1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Sorry about the wall of text...I've been long winded today...lol

As he exits the stage, Tosh exchanges a few words with Faunra.

"Thank you Faunra. I'll be watching you as usual."

He gives her a friendly wink before taking his customary place at the bar near the stage. Since drinks are free tonight, Tosh orders a glass of port and sips it leisurely.
