Signs and Portents

Old and forgotten.
Can you hear the echoes?
Can you see the signs,
unearthed in ancient tomes?
Lost to the ages,
torn from history.

Portents of great power,
laying in wait for
all to see.
Yet none do.
They cannot witness,
even when the
signs are right
there, in plain view.

Only you can. The truth is
near. You can expose it.

Turn the page,
uncover the truth, but
expect to pay with your
sanity.
Darkness cannot
abide the light.
You must walk in twilight.

Actually it might mean that they release when the eclipse happens today. So about 5:40 est. You know... what with all that walk in twilight business.

Let's hope so, because that would be awesome. I could use some good reading material for this weekend's road trip.

Boooooooo, the PUNishment.

Can someone please enlighten me? Contrary to popular belief ignorance is certainly not bliss, but burning curiosity.

Silver Crusade

Woooo! Looking forward to this. :-)

I'm assuming the earliest on Tuesday they would release it is at 9:00 AM (Pacific Coast Time) which would be Noon Eastern Standard Time. So don't go Helicoptering this site until then.

I'm bringing my computer to class to ensure I get this as soon as it's up.

Hype hype hype hype.

96 hours cannot pass soon enough!

Instead of more support material to the new classes we have past the Core book (APG classes, Magus, Gunslinger, Samurai, Ninja, ACG), some of which could really use some...

we're getting...

more new classes...

yay...

In an attempt to be the first to voice these opinions, I believe all the classes are overpowered, and too weak.

See you all Tuesday, someone is bringing the lawn chairs and popcorn right?

Cool, can't wait for next Tuesday...of course I work on Tuesday night:( So by the time I get home there will be a lot of pages of arguments...I mean playtest to go through.

o_0 Wait, we're getting a playtest soon for a Tian Xia hardcover?

Hmmm, this will be interesting. Can't wait til Tuesday.

Huzzah!

I'm really hoping for a wisdom based casting system. (Including the Kinetisit)

What was that? 2 months of silence? Welcome back.

Ehm, what I meant was, what is the playtest about? :S
I have no idea..! Some comments talk about kineticists so that leads me to think Psionics, but the poem says Occult. And there is already a book on Psionics by Dreamscarred Press, called Ultimate Psionics.

Sooo..?

I am really hoping for mostly intelligence based casters with the Spiritualist being charisma based and the kineticist being intelligence or charisma based. If there is a mystic class, I would like it to be wisdom based caster.

The book is called Occult Adventures and it will have 6 new psychic magic classes. The Kineticist is a non-spellcasting class that focuses on manipulating energy(fire, electricity, etc.) or forces(water, air) or objects(telekinesis). The Spiritualist is a 6th level caster class with a spirit guide that it can manifest as a ghost or ectoplasmic creature. The book will focus on things related to the Occult and spiritualism.

I think it should vary depending on the class, myself. Wisdom for ones that involve channeling spirits or spiritual awareness, Charisma for ones that involve forcing your will or powers on either minds, spirits, or the physical world, and Intelligence for ones that require an attention to detail and making use of occult lore. Kineticist seems more like it should be Charisma or Intelligence based, but depends on the flavor, in the long run...Wisdom could be possible if it requires enlightenment with a Buddhist/New Age flavor (space is an illusion that can be manipulated, for example), but I'm not certain that's likely for a class that seems based around tossing kinetic blasts around...but who knows? I'm definitely looking forward to Tuesday to find out!

Occult Adventures was announced at Gencon; you can find a synopsis over at Know Direction here, or see a video of the announcements here. There has, of course, also been discussion on the forums in various places, such as here, here, and here. Hope that helps!

So Pathfinder meets Ghostbusters. Check.

Seriously, I'm in. Lot's of potential hooks and weirdness to exploit here, and players will get to take characters into roles where traditionally NPCs only lived.

Okay, so, Occult Adventures eh? Is this going to be a brand new setting (aka not on Golarion)? Also, as cool as this sounds, will this be the last venture into Lovecraft territory for awhile? I ask as I'm kinda thinking Pathfinder is becoming TOO Lovecraftish (not that I don't love Cthulhu stated up and such but this is kinda veering Pathfinder into darker territory than I'd like).

Paizo Employee Publisher, Chief Creative Officer

1) It's a rulebook, not a campaign setting.

2) It is explicitly _NOT_ Lovecraftian. You should not fear/expect to see any mythos material in this book.

Grand Lodge

However, you should fear the cultist that will follow you home after you pay for the book...

Any word if the Occult Adventures Playtest will be available for Pathfinder Society Organized Play?

To date, I think the Mythic Adventures playtest is the only one that wasn't.
