So... was there a quiz this year after the banquet?

And more importantly, how did Faith Barge yada yada yada #42 do without Mr. Moreland in their ranks?

Details, I must have details! :)

Andoran

Yes there was a quiz. Happily it was much easier than last year. I knew 2 answers!
(considering that I barely understood 2 questions last year, this is a major achievement)
So I didn't contribute much, but it was a lot more fun this year.

Oh, I did manage to earn 2 extra points for my team by tailoring a few things to Lisa.

So Lisa put on the MC hat for the quiz? Wish I had been there.

Hopefully the outrageous answers continued through this year as well for questions for which folks did not know the answers.

No, Mark MC'd it (after Hyrum warmed the crowd up following some technical mic difficulties). Lisa did address the crowd and was hilarious as always with her stories that only she has.

The team I was on (to which I contributed very little) came in 3rd with 33 points (the winning team had 36 points).

Gnot Gninjas, Liz's table, emerged victorious. We had two really amazingly knowledgeable people, I rode coattails and gave one answer. Given the narrow margin of victory, though, and the fact that I was the only one who knew that Codwin I is ruler of Andoran, I still felt like I participated in an important way.

Totally randomly, I play an insane Alchemist who thinks he's Codwin I in kobold cleavers "play anything" PbP. Came in WAY handy.

Geez ... now I wish I had been there even more. Next year, definitely next year.

Since Mark MCed, did the Faith Barge have an appearance in the team ranks or did the Barge disband?

Contributor

Faith Barge was scattered over several tables. My table had two (?) plus me.

Although Mark certainly displayed his faith barge colors right before the contest began. =P

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

The Gnot Gninjas took the victory with 36 points out of 50.

My table, the Darklight Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (Thanks for the name, Ashton!) came in second with 34 out of 50 (and 5 out of 5 on the "label this map" question, which I thought was impressive.)

Third place was 33 out of 50, but I no longer recall which team that was.

Our table faired poorly with only 25 correct answers and about 5 "almost" correct answers. While we did not remember the exact name of the herbalist from Falcon's Hollow, we did remember her mother's name. Mark wouldn't reward us points for that though.

I personally got Jason's "ringer" question regarding a calculated monk's movement right too. Sneaky, sneaky Jason. Anybody remember the exact question?

What is the movement rate of 13th Level Dwarven Monk with Boots of Springing and Striding and the Fleet feat under the effects of haste and carrying a medium load. I'm fairly certain. Also, no fair looking any of those up. =P

Answer:

40 Feet

Dwarf has a base 20 foot movement rate.
The monk movement bonus and Fleet feat don't count under a medium load.
The boots and haste both provide enhancement bonuses so they do not stack.
Thus Haste gives a better movement rate which is the lesser of your double your movement rate or +30 feet.

My table tried really hard! I wish we had bonus points for effort! The multi part questions were real killers.

Paizo Employee

Yeah, we actually put a lot of effort into it, but missed about half of the points. But I was really glad for getting one of them. Our table did fairly poorly. Unfortunately, it was just me and Larry mostly answering questions. Most of our table was paizo or related. We had Megan, Chris Self, and Wil, Mark's wife, Me, and three others who were mostly very quiet.

Razmiran Faith Barge Union #107 disbanded after last year, but we were there in spirit!

It was really, really hard sitting on the other side of the trivia this year! I'm very happy for the Gnot Gninjas who won this year: Robert Lambertz, Daniel McFerren, Jeremy Miller, Mark Seifter, Justin Sluder, and Linda Zayas-Palmer, and I'm glad everybody who attended the contest had a good time!

I represented RFBU#107 at Erik's table. I originally wanted to name our team "Howell's Cohorts", but since it WAS Erik's table, we went with "Ostog's Oarsmen", and finished with 24 points.

Our table was 3rd. Though I hardly did much to help the overall point total. Russ, Jason Nelson and others were much more helpful.

** spoiler omitted **

That actually was the one I helped on. I called BS on that question because I knew Buhlman wrote it so it would be a trick. Once you look at it that way you quickly realize the bonuses dont stack and the encumbrance cuts out the ability and all you need to know is really pretty simple.

The guys were working the numbers and saying "80, no 75, no 60" when I just said, "you know what, I call B---S---! This is just a big trick by Jason!" Once we saw that, the lightbulbs went off.

Sometimes you gotta game the question :)

Our table was really worried too, what with all the 5-star GMs and Venture Captains at the other tables. Cheers to us for rocking.

All hail the 3rd place Halfling Cavaliers!

Ha! You helped out a bunch, especially with confirming when we were unsure. I would say that we had one really knowledgeable person (Justin Sluder, who could have gotten at least a 20 out of 50 on his lonesome), then you, me, and Robert Lambertz were a solid backup tier two, without any one of which we would have had no chance. Still really shocked that we beat out tables like Clark's table with all those freelancers together.

Gnot Gninjas for-gnever!
