I recentally bought a second core rule book from amazon for other at the table to use. the book was not packaged to well and was sitting on its corners in the box so the corners were kind of bent. Well after some use the weekend corners are now mush and it just kind of pissed me off.
The damage is the sole result of amazons crap packaging.
Any who I was curious what condition your core books are in. Not as a rant toward paizo or about product quality, just curious because I know these books see a lot of handling. more than the average.

There was a whole thread about this recently.
Both Paizo and Amazon are aware of it. Contact Amazon for a replacement.

Ah, my core book now has heavy duty packing tape to keep the covers on and the binding is still trying to pull away. So, both the inside and outside has packing tape holding everything together. Book has been passed back and forth between six player since the first printing...pages fold, creased, tore etc...

my core book for amazon.de was packaged rather well, there was some "scratching" over one line (the other side of the back, hard to describe, and I don't know the exact word).
All in all, these messageboards have a rather negative opinion about amazon. But a lot still buy from there. My only trouble is that I want to know which printing I buy, that's why I wait a long time to buy books.

I have a 2nd printing book and the pages are coming away from the spine. It's a very well-used book, though. Being one of the first books at my group, it's been shared like a complete [redacted]!
The interior is doing otherwise okay. The pages are clear, the cover corners are still crisp enough to PIERCE MY DM'S MALICIOUS SKULL, the ink hasn't run or faded.
It's only problem is the whole clump of pages is slowly but surely coming away from the spine.
I don't like spending money, but when the pages finally fall out I'll know it died having lived a rich and full life of being flipped from Equipment to Magic Weapons to Spells to the delicious Index, and then into infinity.
Edit: It should be noted that I generally take very very good care of my stuff, and enforce my respect of my possessions onto any other person opening my book's cover. You fold any page corner or get it greasy, I am man enough to create the biggest, most pathetic hissy-fit you'll ever see a proud man devolve to!

Oooooh, my book is pretty battered already. I have a 1st edition printing. It fell of a table once and got nicked up, then it's got the usual stress from being in my book bag and moved around a lot. I've even started repairing it by squeezing gorilla glue down the spine which had separated from the cover and used some thick clear packing tape to reinforce the front and back cover around the edges.
So far I haven't found any good sticks or anything for the inside cover.

My first printing was in pretty decent condition until I lent it out to a friend. He's ripped a few of the pages and the pages have really started to pull away from the binding and the corners are starting to wear out. I have a back up third printing of the rules so I'm thinking about just letting him keep that one and I'll keep my nice crisp copy. I'm also thinking about making it so my players have to have their own copies of the books so we don't have to keep fighting over mine. Either that or introducing them to the srd so that they can go in there phones and look stuff up.

I've never had that problem with Amazon, frankly, although I know many others have. I always seem to get my books from them shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard larger than the book, but sized perfectly for the box, that keeps it from rattling around inside the box.
I had a 1st edition Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay book, which had notorious binding problems, although mine somehow had escaped that fate. I had a whole speach about it to anyone borrowing it. "This is my Warhammer book, there are a few others like it, but this one is mine..."
Some of the best customer service I ever got was from the folks at Chaosium. I ordered about 5 books from them at once for the Pendragon game, and they sent a hand written letter with the books explaining how terribly sorry they were for sending a slightly damaged book, and that they discounted it by 30% when they charged my credit card, but if I was not happy, they would be happy to replace the damaged book with the next printing from the printer at the same discount if I was willing to wait and wanted to send it back....I am particular about books, and it still took me 5 minutes to find the scuff mark on the back cover they were talking about it was so small....

My core book comes with me just about everywhere. In fact, I am sitting at my barber's right now (ok.... hairdresser's... my wife is getting done first, then our 3 kids, then me) and it is in my bag next to me.
I am notoriously careful with my books despite the amount of use I give them. I still have my 1st Edition PHB (which was a newly published book when I bought it in 1978) and I won't say its pristine but the cover isn't splitting from the spine, the spine is intact, all of the pages are clean, etc. My (also newly published when I bought it) DMG actually shows a bit more wear but I'd actually take that sucker to the bath to read!
My Pathfinder core rules were pre-ordered before the book was published by Paizo. It has very slight wear on the corners of the spine (which shows up as 4 tiny white dots). The book is looser than when it was brand new (if I sat it on a table on its back, I can kinda shift the front cover back and forth and all of the pages kinda mush around... hope that explains what I mean). Other than those points, I think you could put it on a shelf and pass it off as an unused book (that has been sitting on the shelf since it was published). That is... until you get to the inside back cover. I use a metallic stamp with a fancy-shmancy 'R' to mark the book as mine so it doesn't get mixed up at the table. My WEG Star Wars RPG book was 'accidentally' swapped at a convention years ago with one that wasn't quite as pristine. The mental scars still make me shake!

My copy from the first printing is pretty beat up. The spine is falling apart, but the pages are firmly in place. It has been the subject of serious strain, from being carried around, laying on the floor, falling to the ground, and sharing my bed for many nights...
Some of the pages are sticking together, erhm.. from having been left open in a window with the rain coming in.
I functions just as a book should, no pages falling out, but it worn and torn to the limit.
All in all, it looks just like it's supposed to do!

I think Gaming books should expect to take a lot of damage over a some time period unless you do something to keep them from getting damaged.
Some books you hang on to in hopes that they will be worth something some day. But in this case you obviously got it for group use. If this was for personal use I would be all over Amazon. As it is, use some clear packing tape at the corners and across the binding. You could even wrap the entire book in that brown wrapping paper used for shipping. and make a kind of 'dust' cover for the book.
I remember my GURPS books fell apart at the bindings and I had them all spiral bound.
About books that are coming away from the binding? You might try taking it to the local library and see if they will fix it or know someone who will fix it.

The core rule book does 1d6 damage and counts as an improvised club (must be wielded with two hands), and has a range increment of 5 feet.
Oh, wait... you were talking about something else. Never mind.
:-D
I am almost tempted to play a warpriest with the trait Rough and Tumble or whatever and Profession (Table Top RPG Gamer)... My weapons will be a CRb and a D20...

It has the mass to be a hefty bludgeon, but good luck finding special materials versions. Maybe an adamantine cover a gencon exclusive...

My first Core Rulebook has seen a lot of damage. At first I kept it together with Gorilla Tape. Then I just got Kinkos to cut the spine off and rebind it with a spiral bind. When that didn't survive the next campaign I split it into three sections (the first bit, the magic and spells section, and then the rest) and got them tape bound at Copy Central. So far dividing the book and rebinding it has done wonders, to the point where I'd support the idea of reprinting it as three books, especially the spell section.
My Bestiary 1, Advanced Player's Guide and Ultimate equipment is seeing a lot of wear and tear but the Core Rulebook has needed to be rebuilt so much. I eventually got an extra copy of the Core Rulebook and Ultimate Equipment. May do the same for APG.
I fear for my copies of Ultimate Psionics, 1001 Spells and Deep Magic because they are thick enough to fall apart like Core.

My Champions 3rd Edition I did you one better. The pages started coming out, so I bought a bunch of those sleeves you put in big 5 inch binder. I slipped the front of the book in the front of the binder and the back of the book in the back. The binding of the book went into the binding of the ....binder. Each page went into one of those plastic holders.
Don't do it unless you absolutely have no choice. hauling around a monster binder for champions was a chore. I can't imagine doing the same to the CRB and the other books. They would be protected from spills and such but they wouldn't be books anymore.

I have the 1st edition Core Rulebook, and got it with the first shipment that went out. The spine is slightly cracked, and the cover beat up with use, but that's it. It's in perfect shape otherwise, save for idiocy of friends who don't respect books. *grumbles*
I know, right?! My first playgroup practically tossed my core rulebook on the table when they were done.

Mine's definitely starting to feel its age. Slight peeling of the cover at the corners and a few minor rips. Oddly enough, most of the damage is due to transporting it in various bags, etc. rather than the 'rigors of play'. Ever since I switched from a backpack to my gaming chest, wear and tear has slowed.
