Also wondering what sort of special powers the dragon will have, and if there is anything we can do to counter them. Do you have any sort of magic that would give us extra protection over save-or-suck types of magics? A one-time re-roll a saving throw, or something like that?

Ever face an Umber hulk in first edition rules? Had a fairly high level party almost destroyed just because of some bad saving throw rolls to its confusing gaze attack. Failed save and then an "attack nearest person" roll on the confusion table....

@radrick If its about dragons I think remove fear, protection/resist energy is a good bet.

Well I had a scroll of remove fear handy xD however if I am the one that gets save-or-sucked as well, there is not much I can do.

I got scrolls of: remove fear/ paralysis/ blindness/ curse/ disease with me. I hope that we wont need them too often, since I only got 1 each, but better to be prepared than dead ^^ usually I have 1 Freedom of Movement prepared, because I can swift-cast it on myself if I get grappled, paralyzed.

I could take Bless/Prayer if u'd like that's not a big buffs but it helps.

Any spells you had in mind? Mind you my max spelllvl is 4 right now, so I sadly can't take Breath of Life or Raise Dead yet.

BTW remember we got LOOT

We got awarded a Luck-Stone and a Potion of Stone Skin. Who would like to have those?

Luck Boni aren't too good on me because I can cast Divine Favor which is a Luck Boni too. So I'll pass on the Stone.

I think either Sol or Radrick could get use out of the potion of Stone Skin, DR10 makes one incredibly tanky. In character I would vote to give the potion to Radrick, due to holding the beast off for so long. A fitting prize in my humble opinion, because next time you will not go down with that potion handy xD

What do you guys think?

I think the stoneskin should go to a Tank.... I try to avoid damage whenever I can! And while it would've made that last battle easier I still wouldn't have been dishing out heavy damage!

Would the Luck Stone apply to the Maneuver rolls?


Maneuvers are attacks, so technically yes.

Hi! GM Deadly Secret sent me a message and I am interested in joining up. But I am not sure what to bring to the table. Do any of you feel that there is a class or a build style that would complement the current party?

- How much experience do you have with Pathfinder rules?
I have been playing for around six years and half of that was running a custom mythic game.

I am in nine PbP games currently though I just lost the GM for one of them. And no I am not GMing any of them.
- Will you be able to check the game at least daily or every other day to post? If not explain and we can work with you.
I should be able to assuming nothing at work falls on my head. I can usually check around this time and for two more hours and after that it will be after work.. So about 14 hours from now.
- What type of characters do you like to play? Personality, Class, Themes!
I love playing things that are dark or going to be suffering throughout the story. I do not have a favorite kind of class since I can find something in each of them. though I have been playing a lot of healers. I am a big fan of minion builds though that seems to not be an option for this game.

Currently we have Sol as Dragon Disciple who is going for a Dmg/Tank mix, Radrick our Monk is purely going for combat maneuvers, I went for Warpriest to be able to do something in combat besides healing and buffing the party. Our party member that your about to fill in for was going for a Gunslinger/Cavalier DPS build.

Maybe some damage would be nice, but about anything will be a fit in my opinion.

EDIT: We do not really have a party face to be honest, however this is a martial tournament and we haven't had a need for heavy socializing yet. But maybe there will be soon? I don't know honestly ^^

Note, the early discussion thread had some discussion about complimentary abilities for the tournament fights. Might be worth a read. However, I say bring in something fun to play!


I saw something about teamwork feats and I am always ok with taking those. Were there ones that everyone took?

As to what I want.. Magic is not a big thing and I would need the merciful spell thing.. A halfling rouge going into Halfling Opportunist seems an interesting option though. Rouges can do some decent damage when sneak attack is an option. I love the visual idea of this option. Though a general rouge could work too.

Would a Druid's wild shape count as magic?

Though a skald would let me have some of those lovely face skills and a minor touch of magic. I did get to watch a skald mow though my baddies in the last module I ran. Would any of you be interested in getting the raging song during our bouts?

Beyond that I could bring in a fighter. I would have the feats to spare to get the bludgeoner and cosmopolitan feats to get non-leatal damage along with two social skills as class skills.


And am I correct in assuming that you all know each other?

Radrick and I do have Outflank. That's pretty much it for Teamwork feats.

We do not know each other outside of this game, at least I do not. Our characters do know each other since shortly before the tournament where they decided to form a team.


I can grab outflank. And I was wanting to know how well the characters knew each other.

Thoughts on a Skald and the potential willingness to use raging song from you three?

Gotta keep in mind that we don't want to kill....

The character that dropped had a class skill that could give everyone a teamwork feat, but we really didn't organize well enough to use that or outflank yet.... Hoping we do better next fight. I have Greater trip so if I can trip someone in melee with anyone else it will provoke an AoO.


That is why I asked. I shall wave goodbye to the skald for now and I think I will being going with a fighter. Great bab and lots of feats to spare.

And I love trip build! I played though the Conquest of the Bloodsworn Vale with a cavalier and I think I got to share my teamwork feat once. I love the idea of them but they should just be something that happens instead of having to sink feats for it to happen. It should be a reward for being strategic.

I should have my little fighter who was late to the tournament done tomorrow, assuming I continue failing to sleep, but at the latest by Thursday since I have a fair bit of coin to spend. Shopping always takes the longest.


I will be going with a two weapon build, using short swords that have the Merciful ability, so I should only have a -2 to use them. I have weapon focus for an extra +1 to attack and improved two weapon fighting for a second off hand attack with a -2. I am asking someone to check my math on what my full attack will look like. My Bab is +11/+6/+1 and a belt takes my strength up to 18 for a +4 modifier.

I think my modifiers to hit with a full attack should be. 15/+15/+10/+5/+5 Please tell me if I am wrong

Not trying to go into a detailed discussion here and if that's the way it's in this campaign it is fine by me, I am just speaking my mind here since I have my Core Rulebook at home right now.

Needing two hands to cast a spell that has a Divine Focus/Material Component would mean that clerics can not cast most spells when grappled since you can't perform actions that need two hands to accomplish.

PRD -> Glossary:
"In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell."
"A pinned creature can take verbal and mental actions, but cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. A pinned character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level) or lose the spell."

Also it would nerf clerics severely since he would have to drop anything they are holding every time they casts a spell without Eschew Material or Still Spell. Same goes for Magus which is practically unplayable without one of the two feats then. Also Level 1 wizards would have to drop their crossbow every time they want to cast a spell with a material component.


That is fair, I don't play casters that use materials honestly. OK then yes your fervor is up.

Could I use a reposition attack to move them 10' away from the face of the cliff?

About the tripping someone standing up, I had looked that up before because it seemed like an incredibly powerful build, trip then re-trip as they provoke while trying to stand. But since an AoO happens before the action that provokes it doesn't work. You can't trip a prone person any more than you could re-blind someone that is casting cure blindness....


No, You cannot use this maneuver to move a foe into a space that is intrinsically dangerous, such as a pit or wall of fire. Also, you can't retrip someone while standing up, as they are technically prone already while you take the AoO.

I am having some personal issues and having issues keeping up with all of my games. So I am not sure, with being brand new to this one, if you want me slowing your game down.

Radrick is a control monk build. (Manuever Master: Disarm, Trip, etc) Whatever you want to bring in (approved by the GM) should be fine. Remember though that you need to be doing non-lethal for the tourney, and capable of standard damage for the non-tourney!
