I am trying to get the troops back. Harry should be unpanicked at this point. Next round I will get the scared sorceress. Figured I would give blinding it a shot, probably will not work, but worth a try while doing everything else.

Well, check your mail when you get back if you haven't gotten it yet.

Harry brought the BOOM.

Nothing says pain quite like a great axe crit. I am working on it though - I have a two weapon fighter who uses a heavy pick and a light pick. A double crit with them would be 4d4+48 and 4d6+48.

Niiice. I was supposed to be 'on leave'... like THAT happened.

Why is it that every time I ask someone to come early, they actually end up being late? *Sigh*

Scarab Sages

Change your strategy - ask them to be there at an earlier time to begin with!

Maybe that's what I'll have to do :)

Picked up Dark Heresy 40kRP Core Book for 16 dollars a used book store today. Very happy with this purchase. Anyone ever play it?

Hey Shifty, you should get some convalescent leave, right? At least your an officer, haha. Remember how it was when you weren't...drink some water and stop trying fake it, lol. ;) Hope you get well soon.

It is a great game. When you run it, however, remember three basic rules:

1) The world, the game system and the empires enemies are deadly.
2) Don't roll for routine tasks. The difficulties are high because you only roll when the stakes are high.
3) The PCs have several options to improve their chances - get them to use them!

Also, think about picking up the Inquisitor's Handbook, it is a great add-in, Radicals Handbook and Creatures Anathema are also great value for money, but the Inquisiitors Handbook adds to the game from the very beginning. And fetch the free adventures from the homepage ;-)

Ha, it's worse at the staff college :P

8 weeks apparently - ultrasound shows a nice tear and so no whacking about in the weeds with packs, or doing any fire and movement until early Dec. That last promotion course is now on for me at the very end of Jan and through Feb now, so that should all work out.

Gives me time to wrap up study as well, and then complete the last touches of my Masters through Mar-May.

Dark heresy is for people who like to wexplore the grimmest blackness grimmest black of the grimdarkness of the grimdark year of 40k.

Rogue Trader is for being awesome in the 40k.

Only War is for men.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I own Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy and Deathwatch - Dark Crusade and Only War are preordered - and I have to say all this stuff looks awesome (but still not as awesome as WHFRPG) :)

Just a quick survey:

Is everyone still happy with the campaigns they are in?

It has happened quite a lot since I asked that for the last time, many people left us, many new faces joined the campfire. Still, two campaigns had to be shut down due to player's running away.

All PF campaigns still exist though and are going strong.

My posting has become a bit spottier then it was in our early days, but you can still always count on daily nastiness from my side (except on Terror Mondays^^).

VC - Sydney, Australia

So far so good :)

HoL - Can't wait til the Tourney is over, how many people does Victoria have to have dumped face down in the harbour before we can get back to killing the REALLY nasty people? Feels like we've been level 6 forever...

HoD - Ticking along, think we could pick up the pace a bit here, but that's maybe from the player side. I try remain communicative, even though Al is a cat.

HoRunes - Good! Can't wait until L7!

HoRiddles - Just hope we are level appropriate for what comes next, that last ending was some nasty nasty stuff!

HoJ - Funny because WE are the monsters, if people are going to be notional party leaders though they need to post more :P

Epitaph - HoM - I think it ran it's course all old though, Cthulhu has never really been amenable to long term campaign play, so all told we still got a backwater nastiness and escaped with our lives - I'm calling that a victory!

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

HoRunes - having fun, still waiting for the Lamia wench to show up and try to scare Karlan.

HoJ - insanity is an understatement. If there was a campaign that was fun to see what goofiness we can get into next, it is this one. -- And Shifty, not all of us are monsters although I am very suspicious of that elf woman who is hanging out with us.

Im very happy with both campaigns. Having forrayed into other games with other DM's its a relief knowing that Zyren is commmitted. A day off here and there isnt a big deal at all. Not that he's the only one (big nod to Mark Sweetman aka DM Voice of the Voiceless as well) but Ive gotten involved into enough games that fell apart (some rather quickly) to know how lucky we all are to be in campaigns that are standing the test of time at over a year with no showing of slowing down.

House of Riddles - Kabal is probably my favorite charcater to play and the whole party (highy Epic capable group here) interactions are deep and feel truly personal. Enforced by the fact the we have fans and read alongs ^_^

House of Light - Really digging this campaign so far. Im only 2 months in with a melee character and have only drawn my heat to show it off and yet still have felt entirely productive. Looking forward to getting to know and working the others characters besides Victoria as well as developing Cairn more. Plus its nice to see that even with everyvody kind of doing their own thing its still moving along nicely.

Are there any slots you need filled? If so, please let me know when you put up a recruitment thread so I can apply.

I have Deathwatch and it is pretty nice. I think I like it better than Dark Heresy so far, but that said, the books are beautiful. I really want WHFRPG. Iam going have to pick that game up at some point. Is capable of being PbP? With the cards and weird dice it didn't seem like it would be.

When did people start complaining so much about getting taken being taken captive and losing their gear? I have always made my characters to function even if they do lose an important item. May be they are not as effective, but they still have something to contribute. I just read a thread about how you shouldn't take spellcasters items because it gimps them... Isn't that the idea of taking someone captive? Here ya go have the key to the cell and I'll be asleep so go ahead a give me a coup de'grace when you out. Lame. So I guess the issue I have is why is adversity such a problematic thing for people to deal with these days?

I am digging Heart of Darkness and am game for any open spots in any upcoming Everques...err games that you might have.

It boggles my mind that anyone could maintain their sanity running this many games at once though.

CUZ THEY"RE WIMPS! back in the day we were frequently tossed in the cell with nothing but our small clothes AND WE LIKED IT! actually I have fond memories of fashioning slings and clubs from loin cloths and fighting for our lives. there was a whole module about that; A4 Escape from the Slave Lords or something.

I did get shot to death by archers trying to escape from a castle once, but hey, them was the breaks back then. you always had a stable of back up PCs for the old save vs. death. : )

hey Bilbo, i left Tararr's disappearance mysterious so he could return at some point in the Zolurket game. could make him a gnoll captive...

Hey Voodoo, is that so he can get shot to death trying to escape, LMAO. I would love to get back in on that, bud. He has been one of my favorite dwarves. PM me to let me know what you need me to do to get back in it.

@ZZ - I'm pleased with the campaigns I'm in, and I thank you once more for bravely taking on Heart of Riddles when you already had so many campaigns going. You're an awesome DM and I've enjoyed playing with you.

Thanks as well for the opportunity to join Heart of Runes. Hopefully I can become a valuable asset to the group. If I can ever stop cowering in the corner behind a table, that is :D

HOL - My original character and introduction to PBP and I am still loving it. I had transition troubles when the games slowed down, but I think I am adequately adjusted. I've picked up a few more games and am feeling content with the story, characters, and pace. This particular campaign sometimes feels really intense when Solaric is in a moral dilemma, but it makes for a rich story that is a lot of fun to play. However, I agree with Shifty. I will be glad when the tournament is done and we can be together as a single party again.

HOD - Has always been fun to play. Kyren Tosscobble has been a favorite character of mine for a long time. However, sometimes I really think the characters are not united in purpose. Kyren certainly has a motive to find the Andoran Bill of Freedom, but for someone like Alcheringa (who I love as a character btw), I am not sure why he would hang with the Wee Bluets. I am curious how our new characters will change the party dynamics and add to that sense of common purpose.

HOR - Celestra is certainly growing up and Alana has been a wonderful addition for her in the party. I hope you do not mind how things are developing as she explores this new relationship. I also like the fact that I feel she is able to contribute more in combat than ever before. I hope the priest of Cayden Cailean that loves to drink is not getting too old for any of you. I am trying to balance the drinking aspect with other qualities of the this deity such as a love for travel and in particular a great concern for orphans.

Overall Zyren, your games are awesome and all the characters are an inspiration for me to try and improve my own campaign! Thanks again for all the great adventures! Without them, I know I would be suffering from withdrawal.

Any specific unification suggestions? or... Any helpful suggestions for things to avoid that are malefactors in the aforesaid unification?

Jinx is strange, but I can rein him in a bit if I offer him tasty snacks. On that note, how many of your toes do you really need to get around? :)

Heart of Journeys- Couldn't be happier with the interaction between the party. Having a blast (sometimes literally) with Mobo, his songs, and the way the party treats him. Loving the challenges we are facing and the ways we are doing so.

Heart of Riddles- Still enjoying the dynamics of our group, especially the way the party is becoming more and more of a family. Always looking forward to how the party pools together to overcome our obstacles, and the dialogue everyone contributes.

No, I think Jinx will actually fit in nicely. The fact that he seems to enjoy watching flashy spells get cast and things blowing up seems to be a good motivation for the goblin to stick with the Wee Bluets.

I actually love the group dynamics of most of the games. Theras is a unregretting juggernaut when fighting evil in tombs that are possible filled with undead but he's actually very nice. You just have to meet him in a bar when he's 'off duty'. XD

Oh this poor poor cleric of Iomedae.

Poor Berry. Some emotional baggage to take care of?

I was thinking about the hordes upon hordes of undead, aberrations, and "abominations" wandering about upstairs. Poor man will never get a good night's rest.

It is a little early for thorrough judgment, but HoJ seems to be fun. I enjoyed the hell out of HoM while it lasted.

HoJ is not fun, it is a Band of Misfits. I think insane is a better description. And really, only the elf probably qualifies for that description. The rest of us are far worse off.

It's not our fault that people keep doing stupid things like attacking them. I mean it's not like Ragnvald is looking for an excuse to burn down your village, steal your stuff, and leave the women naked and out in the cold.

...yeah...uh...that makes sense :)

@ Bilbo:

Sadly, I can't think of a way to simulate the dice on these boards...the cards aren't a problem, as long as everyone has them or at least the DM has them.

I'm laughing a lot on the Heart of Runes campaign. And to all: Give Marek some time to thaw a bit; he's a normally icy fella but I feel that may change.

If you are laughing at the HoRunes campaign, go and read the HoJ thread. I know we have more than a few followers on that one wondering what type of antics the goblin, the ogre, the demon, the Ulfen, and our token humanoid elf will get into.

I couldn't say. However, I could have sworn I had seen at least a few people discussing the campaign on this OOC. It might just be multiple Bree personalities though.

Would be nice if there was a way to track that.

Nope, not I. I may have mentioned it once in the last couple of months. I followed it for the first few pages and haven't been back to it, just got busy.
