Just finished watching 'The Inbetweeners', dunno how I missed that gem, haven't laughed that hard at inappropriate humour in ages.

Anyone got Blood of Fiends?
Just wondering how much differs to the alternate Tiefling rules in CoT.

Similarly, have come back around to the Cavalier concept (Assuming we could swap out for a bird or something) - not sure how I'd cover the jack-of-all-trade knowledge stuff though.

In the Malaysian vernacular: Same same... but different. They expand out on the detail for each of the alternate spawn - giving them specific skill swaps and a specific SLA.

eg.

Demodand-Spawn:

Ancestry Demodand
Typical Alignment CE
Ability Modifiers +2 Con, +2 Wis, –2 Int
Alternate Skill Modifiers Intimidate, Knowledge (religion)
Alternate Spell-Like Ability Foulspawn gain bear’s endurance as a
spell-like ability.

I'd be planning on avoiding the rolled abilities and use what's specifically stated in the Blood of Fiends info. You also get a few more feats and a bunch of traits (2 per spawn type and some extra ones at the back of the book.

Edit - the jack of all trades for Cavalier would likely have to be shoehorned in by the Order taken... though I'd agree there isn't a fantastic fit there...

Hmm ok, seems I might have to look at getting a copy at this rate...

Ive only got one tiefling (Victoria) and notionally this Midshipman in play, but would be probably worth looking into. Similarly I have two Aasimar. Funny how I use PbP to play all the stuff my GM normally cries about.

That said, 'My GM' is a bit of a misnomer as its been a year since his campaign ended... next one 'starting any day now' {quote circa June 2011} somehow I have been the sucker running the campaigns... hmmm...

Thought I cracked the 'Skill' problem for Cav too - but seems wrong race :p Breadth of Experience. Still a great Feat though.

Yep, that would be him lol.

Must be a bard. ;) Sea Singer perhaps.

If you want it with a different race there is no problems from me. Call it Well Studied or Broad Horizons or the like.

Awesome, a gnome bard with a rapier concealed as a fiddle bow. I like it.

With all the sea related games running being eaten up right now, I have been thinking about putting together a Warhammer 2nd ed sea faring campaign. After pulling out my Man O' War stuff it seemded like it could be a natural fit. For the guys running games on here, what do you use for maps? For everyone on here would any of you be interested in playing? I have wanted to DM for a while now and could use the feed from some of ya even if this isn't your sort of thing.

3rd edition and I'm on board with my Swordmaster of Hoeth

Male Orc Expert 5

It's sad I'm gettin ready to start another game and really don't have the time for a skull and shackles game. I just had a sudden dirty urge to play a CAD who makes my dirty hermit druid and my Conan the Barbarianesque Evangelist look like happy Mormons.

Zyren Zemerys wrote:

A third ed. game will have to wait till I have that game, haha. But, I foresee that will be the next one I pick up. I really like the WHFRPG. So much more down and dirty. Pretty likely you will die and there is little you can do about it but cleave one more bray or grobi in two. But, as soon as I pick up the 3rd ed. I am sure you'll be the first to know, haha.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Don't think that I posted this here. My favorite pirate scene of all time.

I own each and every piece of the 3rd edition (including the print on demands) and I have to say it's one of the most refreshing rpgs of the last decade.

It seems like 3rd ed. could be a little difficult to play PbP. Is this true?

Ta Bree, it was a nice change from editing more mundane photos - needed a break so cracked out GIMP and Fotosketcher and got to work on seeing what could be done relatively quickly with a bunch of stock art and a bit of piratical Alestorm inspiration.

A nice way perhaps to start illustrating NPC's for home games.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

My ex did a lot of 3d modeling using Daz Studios to create NPC's and PC's for his pnp rpg. It took a long time, but it was pretty cool seeing the finished product.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Bilbo: Yeah, the custom dice could be a problem-but I guess there are already dice simulators (but not on this board...) Maybe trusting people would be a good idea :)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

you have to forgive any typos during the coming days, I won't have much time and am writing in mega hurry.

I have never had a problem with trusting people to roll what they say they rolled. I think that might be one of the things that I like about the 2nd ed. But I looked through one of the Creature books for 3rd the other day and it looked soooooo nice.

For some reason Skull and Shackles wants me to play a Drunken Master of Many Styles from Tien who doesn't want any trouble.

"ARRRR!! YER CLUMSINESS HAS STUMBLED INTO ARRRRRR DEN OF MISCREANTS!"

"Please I dun wan any twabble! Let me explain!"

*charged by sword wielding pirates manages to defeat them while running like hell and using various objects in the room including a flagon of mead, two chairs, a gnome who thought being used as a weapon was hilarious, and a fearsome ladder*

So I think that we need to start up a campaign where we each play a member of the band Gwar. Maybe something having to do with the world maggot, lol.

...meanwhile, an evening of listening to Doro Pesch reminds me of why I like German girls; how German is not considered a romance language is well beyond me.

Well, perhaps it is because of songs like this one.

Dicke - I just hope the song does not offend anyone, the english translation of the song would be Fat. I am sure there is a good video for it somewhere, but do not have time to find one.

Oh, and the Romance languages are usually so named because that all have Latin(Rome) as their origin. (French, Spanish, Italian, Portugese, Romanian, and a few less known tongues).

I tend to judge how romantic a language sounds by its word for butterfly-
English, meh. i mean butt-er-fly
French- Papillon. kinda pretty.
Spanish- Mariposa. i like it.
Italian- Farfalla. ok.
German- Schmetterling. wha-?!

It's kind of funny, I just had a very similar conversation with someone the other day. My new(ish) boyfriend and I were discussing French (as I have been taking in in college), he seems to have an unusual disdain for the language saying it sounds like "verbal diarrhea" and he couldn't understand why they would call it a Romance language...

I told him that the fact that he even said that makes him sound like a complete moron and I was tempted to leave him just for that (I know, I know, it makes me sound like a major b!tch...). Then I explained to him why some languages are called Romance languages while others are not, and told him that his disdain for French stems from his love affair with Japanese Anime.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

there's not language on earth farther away from romance than japanese...

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

I think it annoyed me most that he couldn't really offer any reasoning for his words against French.

That does not count - you also had the visual component that influenced you :)

@ Vaughn: You thought about the minis? I can go as low as 400.

I would have to agree that many of Asian languages are not terribly beautiful, for me Tagalog is about the worst. 4 years was enough for me. Also, the manner in which most people speak English in many parts of the US really put me off.

Two notes - Bree - I assume that your boyfriend is american, that is usually one of the hallmarks of being american - hating anything having to do with France for no logical reason.

As far as bad languages go - just go to the hills of Tennessee or Kentucky, their massacred version of what is supposed to be english is pretty tough on the ears.

Having studied (and spoken) both French and German, I prefer German to French because it has rules that apply in every case, there are no syllables that aren't pronounced, and French is a little too soft, kind of wishy-washy, it seems to me... I still like English though because even though there are weird exceptions everywhere, you can say anything you want in hundreds of different ways.

That's because we ruthlessly steal and pillage from other languages without remorse or mercy. The French and Chinese are trying to preserve their languages. English speakers are savagely hacking up the neighbors and sewing the bits onto its gruesome throbbing form while creating fell experiments in its dire laboratory to further bloat its black dictionary.

English is what happens when you take Old Low German, have it invade a Latin/Gallic speaking people. Have that invaded by Norwegian. Then invade that mixture with French. Then have whatever is left take over most of the world.

Clan Moulder created English!?!

I am having a horrible time trying to convince myslef to go back to school for my Master's. I started the prereqs over a year ago then just couldn't stomach it. I think that I need to find something I enjoy more than business to enter. While business is fun in some regards, I hate accounting and it seems that this will be a good deal of the course work for me if I follow this path. Any suggestions?

I'm grinding through my Post Grad Cert Management (Learning).

Cert is 4 units, Diploma is 8, MBA is 12.

I refused to do an MBA, but see 4 units isn't bad, but then I only need 4 more for the dip, and then if I do that I only need 4 more...

So how to suck myself into doing it by chunks.
