HRALP!

Goblins of Golarion has Favoured Class Options (page 31) for the rogue as:

"Rogue: Add +1 skill rank—this skill rank must be spent on Ride or Stealth."

This is confusing to me.

As a rank, as opposed to a point, that would permit me to be able to go higher than a normal level 6 character would be able to in either of those two skills.

Otherwise it is completely useless, heck it's less than useless since it gives you exactly what you might have bought anyway (speaking of ride here, not so much about stealth), but restricting you from taking anything else. If this reading is correct then I wonder if it's a typo meaning that you would get ranks in those two skills only as a favoured class bonus.

Thoughts?

To think I said this yesterday, and today the creatures pretty much rock up and in the first round take the Druid and his companion out of the fight in a round, and thats BEFORE they even get serious. Nasty. You know its good when they need 5 or better and their hit is 1/3 or more of your HP pool. In retrospect we actually need a hardened frontline fighter, as we get smashed in melee.

Tl;Dr - next HoD replacement MUST be a PLATE TANK.

Ha, Second Darkness is a Tankathon :p

Suddenly standing there, as a D8 class that is built to be effective in melee range, is looking less like a good idea... :)

VC - Sydney, Australia

Alcheringa is a combat build druid, with a combat build pet... just got reamed. Gives you a benchmark :p

Last combat he got taken out as well.

Come to think of it, has ended knife edge quite a few times! :)

Male Orc Expert 5

I seem to be doing just fine.

VC - Sydney, Australia

You go up front then :p

Male Orc Expert 5

Sides I think Al is just learning the harsh lesson of the Bladetwist school of "needs more hit points."

As in, eleven con just isn't going to cut it even with a high AC.

Tis an annoying lesson even with swift action 3d6 heals at your disposal.

And really you're looking at the levels now where if you have not dedicated yourself to High ac or don't have the proper buffs up than you're pretty screwed anyway. I know berry gave an infusion of barkskin to him which handles that and I think I gave one of Shield to Alchy. Only reason he didn't get barkskin was because I figured he would just cast it.

And yes it stacks with your wild shape.

Sooooooo if you did that and dropped the infusion you'd be walking around with 25 AC without bothering with a shield. Since you already have one in drinkable form.

After you wildshape it would be 28 which is what our fighter has now. :)

If we decide to get Salfon in on the buffing game (rather than pick up the hippy after he gets bit by a bug game) things get very amusing. I will probably get giddy when 7th level hists since that's when he gets access to blessing of fervor which beats out haste in our group.

We've got the resources it's merely a question of using them.

Now the only thing the goblin has to worry about is not being utterly killed when something peers in his general direction.

Still this will be a boon to berry as she is curious about goblin anatomy.

Honestly if you ask my opinion some kind of ranged character like an archer ranger or gunslinger would be far more useful than a rogue. Berry has trapfinding, lock opening, and trap disabling down like a boss. So all that really leaves the rogue to do is flank with the fighter which is hard since we always seem to be in cramped corridors.

Just some food for thought. Arrrrr.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Hmmm well didn't really have the stats to go for a bigger con, only had what I got to roll with - suppose I could have dumped the Int roll into it, but then again doesn't seem very 'in character'. The idea has been to just roll in and do the huge damage and hope they die before they reply... even the Companion got munched. Suppose the Companion gets beefy next level though.

Will have to have a better look at those buffs as well, the long breaks between encounters is problematic, perhaps will need to consider a wand or something. I'm hesistant to swap around my spell list as I find myself becoming a Healer at the most inopportune times ;P

Do both, you get the speed and extra attacks from the Haste, then the casters and others can select one of the other options from the Blessing - free metamagic, increase AC or attack, lots of stuff. I think that it is only the extra attack that specifically does not stack with Haste. Makes for a sweet combo.

Male Orc Expert 5

You can but Kyren might feel there's a better use of his action with that spell dropped. As of now the only person who can really take advantage of haste is Vaughn. Salfon was a damn good target for it what with his half a bajillion arrows that hit like spears a round. But sadly he's gone. That leaves us with casters, Vaughn and a meleeist who can't take advantage of haste. Side's at that level Berry can just pass Vaughn an infusion of haste. This opens up Kyren for another spell. :)

Our group is absolutely solid in HoD I'd put it even above our HoR or HoJ groups which are lopsided in some ways.

VC - Sydney, Australia

HoJ is pretty darn lopshided, HoR I think is fairly solid, but we just have that Arcane gap. HoR will be great next level.

Its your CoT I'm worried about, but hey, with Bloodless as the next Dexter Morgan... who knows!

Pfff - you're fine, it's the Nobles that have problems... we're currently suffering death by 1000 cuts vs the lemures.

Hey all! Yes I'm here but due to complications with the surgery I will save Zyren all the wondering and just pull my application. Perhaps at a later date when I can type with more then a finger I will look at making a character but for now I'm happy with reading all the various stories and freaking out characters in the OOC.

It got a little untidy for us as we were already pretty messed up and sick, but we got it together after a few bad die rolls and took them down.

Shifty, I think Vaugh could (should??) *easily* fit the "hardended tank" role. Sure, currently I'm wearing lighter armor (breastplate) but if we get our hands on heavier stuff, I will certainly give it a go. With my high dex, though, it's a bit of a wash. Between dodge and dual-weapon AC bonuses though, I think that I'm fine for front-lining.

Heavier armor, or boosted dex a bit, yeah, that'll do it.

I'd just been concentrating on spending $$ on better weapons, because that's what kills the bad doods. :-)

@ Shady: Hey, good to read from you! Hope your hand gets better soon - don't hesitate to apply again then!

I hope you get better soon, Shady, otherwise it's going to make my trip to The Hand Center much more scary. I've let my doctor talk me into at least meeting with the guy and discussing options, but I've not committed to the surgery yet. The doc was talking about a new method where they just make a small incision in the wrist area and using a camera scope go up into the upper wrist/hand area to cut the ligament as opposed to slicing from palm to wrist.

I've always banked on simply overwhelming the enemy and killing them so fast that party HP don't become an issue - a huge fan of the blitzkreig.

Unfortunately we need to get our prep in order BEFORE the fighting to make that happen, and we seem to be missing that step a bit :p

I think Tark is spot on, we need to be using our magic mojo a bit better, that seems to be the missing link.

Oh don't worry TR, my complications are my own dumb a$$ fault. It's amazing how much it hurts when you don't pay attention to the clothes basket on the floor and trip on it. Then when you fall and manage to catch yourself pushup style, the resulting impact on my hands busted BOTH sets of stitches open and actually tore the healing incision open on my left hand. Note to self: put the laundry away when it comes out of the dryer.

They looked and no damage to my wrist but I reset the healing time back to day 1. Yay...

Muahahaha!! Oldschool hunt and peck typing ftw! It takes twice as long but I'm remembering the way I used to type when I was 10 and it has no affect on my wrists!! I even asked my doctor and while he was dubious he said I was allowed to do that.

Pah, I spent all day looking at TESOL, and that was a pleasant change from 'Manage Knowledge and Information systems' for my Grad Dip. I'm slowly losing my resolve and thinking that I'm going to go into a PhD next year. I need to have a cold shower.

Heading away in the am for some relaxing chill time - may or may not have internetz... so just posting last posts for the night, back in about 36 or so hours guys!

Yeah. NG aasimar cleric of Iomedae who got kicked out of the regular 'army' of iomadae and sent on a 'quest' by his commanding officer to teach him the value of Law and Justice: Bring order to Kaer Maga. Essentially his jokes and womanizing flew in the face of their rules , pissing his commanding officer off enough that he sent my character on an endless quest. He's very easy going and likes to drink (not to excess, he just likes the taste), likes to flirt and teases his freinds. The longsword on his hip is not for decoration however and should you cross too many of his lines you will see that while he himself is not lawful he does know how to put foot to a.ss if justice DEMANDS it. If the group NEEDS him NAO, maybe he came down here with another group of adventurers and got seperated from them? And in his 'random' wandering trying to find either his group or the exit (I say random because as a cleric nothing is by chance in his life) he comes across them fighting and takes that round of "Hmmm. Who's the bad guy?"

Have a good one, Shifty. You headed back up to the "cabin?"

VC - Sydney, Australia

Nah mate... its Spring and the weather is already amazing. 2 hour drive to Port Stephens, a nice place where you routinely come across dolphins right up on the beach, golden sands, and the whole works. Stockton Beach is nearby and is just a whole new planet (its 20 miles long) - so a bit of scuba, a parasail or two and just a long walk out on the dunes.

Stockton.

Where I'll stay - think a good massage and day spa after my wanderings :p

Shoal Bay.

I'll be up in the Mountains in Decemberstaying here on a bit of an art sabbatical and a little bit of bushwalking and meditation in the bush after Dec 2 - it seems there's a lot of stuff happening on that day, so it must be siginificant for some reason... then its the 'last relax' before the January promotion course. 2 pips for January plzkthx.

Good point, perhaps the rogue has been released into the cleric's recognizance, or perhaps vice versa if we want to make it funnier.
