Blah! Don't you think I should know that as a history teacher ;) I just wanted to rant a bit, heh

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

I know, but he is an American, you know our prejudices, don't you? ;-)

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Merry Beltane to you as well, feytharn.

Shifty, don't you dare marry her off to that bird!

OK, so, I'm feeling slightly less like death warmed over. For now at least. My daughter comes home tonight, so let's hope it lasts. Thanks again, Kabal, for taking over Bree. It is much appreciated. If I'm still feeling this good later on, I'll post for her. If you don't hear from me again though, it means I'm feeling like crap again so carry on.

Hope you feel better soon!

@ Fey: Prejudices? could you clarify that? ;)

I think that there are some bases further north, but it most likely that I would be in the Rammstein, Frankfurt, or Landstuhl area. I should be able to get some info soon. I was chatting with my assignment manager and she was a little shocked that I was asking about another long tour overseas after just returning from Japan 2 months ago, lol. If I was able to get orders for Germany, I should be there in the Fall. Hopefully by October!

Me? Prejudices? About American knowledge of history? Never! ;-)

Spoiler:
Please, all of you, take this in good fun - despite the prejudices about Germans and fun...

You mean to tell me you don't drive a Porsche, listen to Techno, and wear only Black Turtle necks, Feytharn!?! ;) I might see if I can go to Holland instead, lol.

Time to head out to work so I can try to get these orders. @Zyren. If a creepy guy with a scarred up head claims to be me, it is really just a conman from Romania.;)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Heh :)

Will also head out now, wash my Porsche while listening to Sven Väth - but hey, I won't wear a turtle neck :)

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Sad fact: In Germany, there is a saying about the Münsterländer (people living in the part of the country I do), that they probably hide in their cellars when laughing...

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Well, that is not a saying, it's a fact :) (you guessed it already, I'm from Germany's capital of cheerfulness, the Rhineland) ;)

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Yup, those are the ones we are hiding from ;-)

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

You can run, but you can't hide! Hah!

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

You are probably right, we cannot build our cellars deep enough without flooding them and the countryside...let's just say you can see quite far on a sunny day...

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Heh:)

Nayone amongst the campsitters who is interested in a very large (and complete) collection of Pathfinder Minis (first set many rares 3 or four times)?

I'll restructure my mini collection and go back to unpainted models.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I would be interested in them, will have to think about the finances though and get clearance from my spouse.

I also lived in Rhineland Pfalz, but I am pretty sure that I was in the Pfalz part far from you all. I lived in Wittlich, about 30km north of Trier along the Mosel. For about 4 months I lived with a family in an ort named Niederscheidweiler - population of about 200 as I recall. Cool place in the Eifel mountains.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

200? Wow, that sounds remote :)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Look it up on a map. There is also an Oberscheidweiler. Essentially the upper and lower towns. It is a small farming village. Was a great place to bike from if you did not mind having to climb up out of the Mosel valley on the return trip each time.

I'm interested in the spectres, frost giants, and ogres. Are you willing to part with some, or do you want to unload the whole set and ONLY the whole set? And do you have a price in mind? I know nothing about these things' value . . .

VC - Sydney, Australia

Wow, nice collection.

I could only imagine with horror the shipping cost to Australia.

On the matter of history, I have been enjoying my recent assessments at the staff college where I have had the joy of 'presenting' historical battles, but so far all in France.

Fromelles last week, Pozieres last night, and Bullecourt 1 & 2 next week.

Nice, Shifty. I love military history. Good stuff.

Zyren,do really own a Porsche? I would love to pick up a mid 80's 911. The RUF Yellowbird is probably one of my favorites ever.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I don't mind the history subjects, although that is pretty lucky as they are mandatory for us.

The amount of work put into the analysis of the Kokoda Trail/PNG was pretty huge, and prior to that I had Kapyong (Korea) and Long-Tan (Vietnam) to break down.

I think I'm the only person getting away with being a bit flippant and light hearted about it though, sadly, most other guys being assessed are taking this stuff 100% deadly serious and taking a very dry approach. I prefer to turn the presentations into some kind of 'Boys own ripping yarns'. My irreverence may get me into trouble one day though.

Former enlisted flaring up, Shifty? lol.

VC - Sydney, Australia

My view is that whilst it is good to have a solid technical knowledge of the who what why etc, it is of greater use if you can make it interesting to a broader audience than just a limited academic exercise.

How is one to give a rousing speech inspiring vim and vigour for King and Country if one cannot draw upon the great achievements of our forebears from battles long ago hard fought to lace liberally through it in a colourful way? "1000000 enemy and only this one platoon to face them? Well I can only imagine the Welshmen at Rourkes Drift must have felt a bit the same as the Zulu armies massed, but that didn't stop them now did it? Lets have a rousing round singing 'Men of Harlech' in defiance as we fix our bayonets shall we lads!?"

One of my personal favorites from Napoleonic times was the soon to be Duke of Wellington and the Battle of Assaye in India. A certain brassness to Wellesley's balls shows through there methinks.

You should definitely read The Dresden Files by Tim Butcher.

Shifty - I'm looking over when I should rev up my S&S recruitment.

Looking back over the posts you put up earlier looks like you will be out for a solid month in End June? - do you have any issues if I start things up now and have you DMPC'ed while you are incommunicado? - or would you prefer I held off a couple of months?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Mark - there are currently 3 S&S recruitment threads active and a fourth closed last week. So there is lots of interest. You will get swamped if you do a regular recruitment thread.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Hiya,

Yeah my troubles start around 2nd weekend in June and then I pack up for the big old bus to No Mans Land end June. Will be in the field being assessed to death until around 22 July.

I guess it is a case of planning accordingly - don't want to get in the way of you kicking off if you are dead keen to get cracking early.

I'm flex about DMPC'ing or just strating late or whatever fits the campaign.

No problems Shifty - I've in-laws in town for a week and a half yet, so I'll likely wait till they're out of the picture first at any rate. Having read through the 1st volume I'm reasonably confident that it would be reasonably easy to work in the delay assuming a late May-ish start. Would give you the early kickoff involvement as you find your feet and then you should be back before the critical parts of the AP plays out.

What sort of character were you thinking of out of interest? (I'm firming up on 20pt buy and running with the everyone is a tiefling angle). I can feed you tidbits of the alternate options if you don't have the Blood of Fiends splat.

Tirion - I'd still like to do a general recruitment still (apart from Shifty's reserved spot) though it will be open to all and sundry regardless of who I already DM. But you're probably right in suggesting that getting past the initial rush being worthwhile.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I am going to have a re-read of the AP players primer just to see how the idea might play out, but I have a pretty clear concept at the moment. Will come back to you very shortly.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

It is interesting what you get for submissions. Some are great and while mine are usually longer than most, as I am sure you guys know, it is amazing how many people seem to just make their characters on herolab and then throw together a paragraph consisting of - "I was the unwanted son/daughter of a dread pirate. Now I want to follow in my dad's footsteps." Pretty sad really.

VC - Sydney, Australia

That kind of schtick makes me want to PLAY the Orc that killed their family in the raid on the unnamed village they escaped from.

I'd almost rather have that than people who carefully build their characters.

But fail to follow instructions for submission.

Too true. And there is the guy who after you list your criteria asks if something completely different is acceptable. " Gee, I would really like to try a degenerate half-fiend lizardman. I am sure he would fit right in with your elves and humans."

I have to trust the Dm to give a really in-depth background for the most part these days. After having hot and heavy recruitments then no game materialize I got a little more cautious with my time. But, if the DM has good track record or I have played with them as a player I will bust all the fluff books I have and really go to town.

I find our 4 mile runs are a great time to zone out and docharacter development, haha.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Vaughn: I'd like to unload the whole set, and I don't know much about prices, I have to admit.

@ Shifty: Shipping to Australia is not more expansive than to the US - I guess it's about 50$.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

The problem with splitting them is that the shipping becomes really expensive once you are sending several small packages.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Yeah, that's the problem.

OK, I think I've got enough interest at home to justify grabbing up this set. I've never purchased any of the Pathfinder figures, so can you give me an idea of what you think is a fair price (naturally I'll pay shipping ot the USA)?

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Still doing fairly good. Tired as all hell, but that's unrelated. Oh the marvels of modern medicine. Thank you antibiotics.

Uncanny!

I do the same thing, the first half mile is just getting into the mojo of the run, then the brain swaps over to characters or working out the finer nuances of my campaign.

Vaughn:

I found a complete set sold on Ebay US for 175$

The lot I'm offering has about the double amount of rares and four times commons and uncommons plus the promo dragon figure (which sells for about 20).

I was thinking of about 420$ including shipping?

StoreThis are the prices at Paizo store, but I think they're totally through the roof.
