Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

lol, what did you buy?

VC - Sydney, Australia

Ummm a bunch of cold weather gear :p

Jacket alone was 350AUD...

Sleeping bag, new gloves, merino wool beanie and neckie.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Heh, I hope it's worth the money...but merino wool beanie, sounds like something that grants warm ears :)

VC - Sydney, Australia

Yep.

Sick of the cold while outdoors... the other weekend I missed the temp hit -17c again, I suspect July wont be very forgiving when I'm out there again.

Male dwarven kineticist 3

Merino wool necktie? So that you can do business and still stay toasty warm in the wilderness?

Also, damn that must be a nice jacket. I think the most expensive piece of clothing I have ever bought was a snowboarding jacket and that only cost £170 and it inflated. Best idea to make a jacket warmer.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

whoa, the camp's infiltrated...that's what we get for not having sentries...help yourself, there are sticks and marshmallows.

Btw. I'm a big fan supporter of Bench fleece jacktes...for pretty much every season besides summer.

Two things:

1) Is everyone content with the campaign he is in? Quite some time has passed since I asked this question and I just want to make sure, I don't lose sight of any developments that lead to having less fun for certain players.

2) What do the players of HOL and HOD think about a possible new player, since NIK A seems to be inactive for the moment.

I am enjoying myself, even if I am just sitting around doing nothing.

Which is of course my own fault haha.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I'm happy in all three :)

Male Orc Expert 5

Probably a good thing Karlan's not there right now anyway. We're going a bit beyond mere justice at this point.

There's other reasons but that's the main one.

We're hoping that good Karlan can come and show us poor wretches the better way and be the shining light of example :)

Male dwarven kineticist 3

Yeah.. Kanyk wasn't really thinking about justice so much as vengeance. He is feeling mighty guilty and a short burst of brutishly violent revenge is temporarily quite cathartic. Guilt and self recrimination will probably catch up with him in the morning though.

Kanyk is about to get a talking to from Gerlick most likely.

quite content! I guess HOL might could use another spell slinger. Otherwise, I think we are doing OK.

I'm having a great time. I'm trying to learn what Vaughn is really about (I think I'm getting there). I'm also trying to "figure you out" as a DM ;-) I think I'm getting there too.

I'm for it. We definitely need another stealthy/scout type, that's for sure!

Dungeon Master

1)

I am having a great time in both HOL and HOD! Every encounter has such variety and the story lines are great! Kyren Tosscobble in HOD is an absolute blast to play. Right now, he has become my favorite character to post. As I mentioned earlier, the moral dilemmas in HOL have made role-playing Solaric much harder right now. I like being true to the character, but I am feeling very alone as a paladin in this group. Solaric feels more like a righteous ruler right now and I am not sure I like it. Perhaps as he grows into being a cleric, I can downplay the righteous aspect and become more of a wise, helpful, kind, patient healer. I know Sarenrae is very much into the redemption and forgiveness of creatures. Do you think I could play Iomedae in a similar way? Especially when dealing with humans!

2)

I think HOL could certainly use a Wizard or Sorcerer and HOD could use a Rogue. Thordak from HOEV has expressed an interest, but I also know that he is going to be in the back woods for about six weeks this summer, so I told him to wait until August to see what is happening.

And he entirely deserves it. Kanyk isn't too good with dealing with strong emotions, may end up punching some inanimate objects. A charisma of 7 doesn't give the strongest hold on your feelings.

Also, I am rather enjoying HOR so far, even though we haven't got anywhere like into the campaign proper. All this stuff at the beginning is right good.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ DMHW:

I think you can, maybe Veredan can help you see things no so doggedly.

@ HOD and HOL players:

OK, then maybe we should really see if we can find someone to fill in the gap.

600+ posts and only 1 actual story encounter that I am aware of in :D

Hilarious! :D

Male Wandering Nomad 3

I'm perfectly content in both campaigns, and if Nik doesn't show up soon I'd be fine with finding some new players. I actually have a friend who has never played a PbP before but would want to give it a try if he had the opportunity. I don't know if he has the time to commit to one, though, but I can ask him if you'd like.

Vaughn Elliot wrote:

Bonzo just got Invisibility, and I'm considering putting a fair amount of skills into stealth. I think I'd like him to become more of a utility character, considering Donna's smashing power, so that might help fill that gap. I think we could benefit from some ranged attacks, personally.

Actually its interesting that both of us are running Half Orcs along the same vein...

One minute Harry is all happy and being the town harlot with his high CHA, and the next minute he delights in the brutality of 'no mercy' killing and ultraviolence.

One minute Kanyk is all quietly happy and being the gentle/shy Ranger type with his low CHA, and the next minute he delights in the brutality of 'no mercy' killing and ultraviolence.

Can you spot the Orcish ancestry shining through?

Left to their own devices things get ugly pretty quickly, good thing Karlan will be there to guide them and possibly knock off some of their rough edges... :p

Or healer.

Victoria is fully committed to Heal spells at the moment, slightly limiting any other utility she might have. Then again I don't mind being the Healbot, just thought it would be her sideline, not the main role.

On the upside, it is lucky that the Witch class is so versatile.

Might start shopping for another Pbp to join, HOR/HOL/HOD are going strong, but for the other three I'm in two are going slow and it appears one has basically fizzled due to GM RL committments.

Male Orc Expert 5

Well my Council of Thieves game jsut lost a pair of players and I'm shopping for a replacement player.

And Pitr is being a wise-acre again so he won't make it easy on you ; )

DM Harpwizard wrote:

Iomedae's code in FoP does mention being 'temperate in actions and moderate in behavior'. My take is that she is a hard core crusader "eliminating sources of oppression". Thus she isn't particularly puritanical in lifestyle, but really focused on quashing evil. IMO the mercy thing only comes into play very occassionally. The whole Captain episode could have been a case of that, but seemed a little hard to believe after he was enjoying kicking the peasants around so much. Sorry if I got overly snippy about it. Stress of the move and all.

But personally the whole what to do with captives question really drags things down for me. Might be easier when we are clearly dealing with psychos and murderers.

just had a read up :)

CoT seems like a good AP, I read the primer and was instantly struck on the concept of an actor/spy, either Rogue or Bard, but seems that party needs more frontline 'crunch' and something 'less subtle'...

A bard is never unwelcome and two slots are open. Besides between a melee rogue, magus, and what looks like a buffing/utility druid (havent quite figured him out yet) theres not that much call for frontline crunch.

Infact they're so melee heavy that half the group sat around and twiddled its thumbs in the first encounter because of 5ft wide corridors.

TarkXT wrote:

wait a minute. I thought you had a cleric, monk, inquisitor, wiz, and witch? was I just reading the wrong PbP?

I was going to say CoT is the only AP I really don't know anything about. Seeing as the other game I was in just folded due to GM RL issues, I'd be up for filling in if you could use a rogue on the run from the Hellknights.

If Shifty already has a spy idea though. maybe something else.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Umm I know this is kinda off the wall, but how about THREE rogues?

The Spy/Actor
The Burglar
The Thief

Each would have very different approaches... that would be novel.

Different group. I run two. I built the groups around a certain theme. One seemed ot have a lot of dudes who were connected to or had once been nobility in the city so they got a separate group from the dudes who were all people fighting against "the man".

The Rebellious group is the one down two people.

VC - Sydney, Australia

OK Voodoo why don't you jump on this one and run your Rogue... my concept was getting so over the top in my head that it's gone a little OTT - totally out there concept frankly.

That said, an Aasimar Urban Ranger specialising in killing Tieflings (or is that Outsider:evil?) - The Angel hunting the Devils - could also be quite fun.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ Kirk:

OK, cool, just ask your friend!

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Alcheringa:

While the Revive is in Ankar Te and by that within the walls and without the possibility to see the sky, I figured we could just go with the idea that directly above it is a gap in the ceiling.

VC - Sydney, Australia

@Zyren. Works for me... Alchy has been into the Druid herbs.

@Tark. So how does the Aasimar Ranger sound?

Hello, I'm back! To answer your question, Zyren, I am absolutely loving RotRL, and am having a blast playing Nieve! (even if he's currently slightly emo)

Male Orc Expert 5

Assimar ranger sounds fine and does kind of go along with the theme of the group. Do me a favor shifty and fill outa proper app for the thread though out of fairness to others that have. Thank you. No need to fill out a full character sheet (yet) but the questions I asked have a purpose I promise you.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Will do, I just wanted to check the racial aspect before I went off on a tangent...

btw nice ranger, Shifty. would have liked to have seen your thespian spy as well. coincidently, my rogue's nickname is moondark. :)

Well Moonlight and Moondark could make an entertaining combo, go put an app up :p Rangers are just high BAB Rogues anyhow!

I've had the Thespian Spy concept in mind for a while, just waiting for the'right' campaign for it, a bit useless on a dungeon crawl really. Basically ten times more manipulative than Victoria, but without her sense of fair play and goodness :P

Actually you said you and harry both would help, and when neither of you said "Lets go Gerlick" once inside, and the battle started, he just sorta wandered off :P

So you offered yes, but didn't let the poor half orc know when you were ready haha
