I'd choose to wilfully interpret the signs as a reason that you need to turn into a superhero of some kind. You've already got your superpower (Spaced out person assistance) and your weakness (Injuries on the right side). Perhaps the broken bird was meant to be your Batman moment.
Picks up the broken bird "That's it... I will become Broken Bird-o! Assisting those that are semi-conscious on public transport everywhere!"
You know... or not...
I totally f'ing love you now.
OK so today I had one of those moments... twilight zone bit at the end, stay tuned...
Indeed, very twilight zone esque. Thanks, Shifty, for being one of the few good people left in this universe. Mayhaps that is all there is to it, the universe was putting you were you needed to be to help these other folks because none of the other a$$holes would.

Seeing its a busy metro train station with a bajillion people around, and the Rail staff office is nearby - but too far for them to notice us, I just pick the chick up, throw over the shoulder like a caveman and take her to the office.
Now it occurs to me that here's a guy walking along in broad daylight with an unconscious woman over his shoulder and no one says a word or makes a peep about it. In...
LMAO! Holy SHI'TE! LARPing Harry...?

Well nothing, its just that in a Criss Angel Mindfreak moment, HoD became identical to HoJ. But only for a moment.
Although after a brief flurry of activity, we are back to where we started with HoD - Alchy is a DPSHealbot still. Can't wait until 7, then Blaze can get into the killing more, leaving Alchy able to flit about a bit more and maybe healzing!

We would have eaten your halfling by now.
Eat Halflings and no one even blinks, confetti the odd Necromancer and everyone wants to bang you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

That wasn't Attalas, Mobo ate it while sleep eating. This is why you always sleep in your armor when a goblin is around. Sleep Eating.

Hi DMZZ
Got a FFG question for you.
The humans have an ability, Favoured by Fate that grants a once per session bonus of 2 Fortune dice to a roll. How are you going to determine when a session has passed and the ability is available once more.
Thanks :)

Had my first fencing (as in the poke other people with little skinny swords kind... not the dig holes and hammer in posts kind) lesson today and can say with some confidence that I shall be in some degree of pain tomorrow. Fit I am not.
Can't say that I have much experience with the long pointy poke people fencing. But from years of experience growing up, trust me if you are not in shape, doing the dig holes version would have also left you very sore.

I was about to say that they both leave you feeling pretty awful with the first experience. I think a post hole digger may be the worst tool ever. It would be closely followed by the hand tamper.

So I was thinking and read through some of the posts in the HoD thread and for reasons that aren't easily explainable I came up with the following concept:
A Wayang Samurai (Ronin) who rides a Boar and fights with a Mongol bow. Character and personality that comes to mind is equal parts the Ronin from Yojimbo and Kikuchiyo from Seven Samurai. The Ronin code of ethics would be based on the worship of Kofusachi... the Laughing God.
If that intrigues I can work it up into an actual character.

Drop the lowest die from each roll
Drop the lowest summed up roll of the now remaining 7x3d6
If the sum of the best 6x3d6 is higher than 75 - grats - otherwise: reroll
1: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4) = 12 - 11
2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 3) = 15 - 14
3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 1) = 11 - 10
4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 5) = 23 - 18
5: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) = 8 - 7
6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 3) = 15 - 12
7: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 5) = 23 - 18
11+14+10+18+12+18 = 83

Nice concept Mark :)
Been trying to find the creation guidlines to guide me on a concept but can't seem to find them.
I see the rolls used by Mark ( thanks Mark !)
The party makeup seems to indicate that almost anything goes ( you just lost a goblin gunslinger :) )
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Shifty |
Yeah sort of...
We lost a Gobbo Gunslinger, but see part of the reason we did was that anything DIDN'T go. In 'Journeys' we have Ogres and Goblins and all sorts of crazies, however in 'Darkness' the key point is that it has been the less 'novelty' characters that have stuck the longest.
At the end of the day, we are adventuring in Kaer Maga, notionally for very little/no pay or reward, for concepts like 'Andoran Bills of Freedom' - so its a certain altruistic type we need. The party moral compass is also most certainly set to 'good', although theres a fair swag of tolerance for the occasional deviation.
Clerics seem to have the highest casualty rate.
A good HEALER would be ideal, but whatever.
My key point would be play what you want to play, but make sure its not a freakshow novelty gag character that two minutes later you regret playing becauseit doesn't 'fit' with dark and gloomy Kaer Maga and a happy do-gooder party.
My jest earlier was only half a jest - whats is MOST important is:
An interest in 'fitting' with the team
Reliability,
Sticking it out more than five minutes.
Mark Sweetman |
Well you know me well enough to figure I'm in for the long haul, and if you did want the wayang - I can confirm that it is not a novelty character.
Altruism is in keeping as I'd be looking at an NG alignment, and I know full well what to expect in Kaer Maga (City of Secrets is one of my favorite sourcebooks).

It sounds great to me, Mark! I would be happy to have you join us, but I suppose it's really Zyren's decision. As you can see, we have the following:
Vaughn Eliot - Fighter
Kyren Tosscobble - Sorcerer
Alcheringa - Druid
Berry Peelybottom - Alchemist
I'm sure that we would have room for two more.

Given where the party is at currently, I could whip up an oracle of Pharasma, unless straight cleric would be preferred?
Set 1
1: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4) = 10 9
2: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 6) = 14 13
3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 1) = 16 15
4: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 3) = 13 11
5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 4) = 15 14
6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 4) = 11 10
7: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 4) = 11 10
13+15+11+14+10+10 = 73
Set 2
1: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 6) = 10 9
2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 2) = 18 16
3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 4) = 15 14
4: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 1) = 10 9
5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 5) = 9 8
6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6) = 15 14
7: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) = 12 11
9+16+14+9+14+11 = 73... again.
Set 3
1: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 4) = 17 15
2: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 2) = 13 11
3: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 4) = 12 11
4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3) = 13 12
5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 4) = 13 11
6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 2) = 7 6
7: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 1) = 9 8
15+11+11+12+11+8 = 68
Okay, I'm going to try stats again later, as the dice roller is not in my favor at the moment...
Spazmodeus |
Yeah those were my thoughts exactly dragon blood, cleric of pharasma or other God if appropriate.
Let's see what the dice gods say
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 4) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 2) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 2) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 3) = 16 =14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 4) = 13 = 12
Drop the 9
13 + 17 + 11 + 14 + 11 + 12 = 78
OK. I'll whip up a profile this evening.

I dunno Zyren... I mean we've only been PbP-ing together since September last year, lets take it slow ok? :P
Up to the groupski - if you'd like a jovial wayang which will be a portmanteau of japanese, chinese, malay and likely indian influences then I'm your guy. But given I've got a lazy 20+ PbPs that I'm in, I'm happy to cede le passage to Spaz and Dragon.

I wasn't specifically aiming at any particular person with those pleasant observations, more making a point that whilst we are a pretty jovial and upbeat bunch, I think the revolving door on that campaign has become quite disruptive, and we'd be happy with whatever so long as the effort was being made to push the campaign along. Things tend to move slowly in PbP as is (we went into that place in May) and we still aren't where we need to be, nor even know where we need to be is... and whats worse is we are now worse off than we were five months ago as (whilst funny in some ways) the NPC to point us to where we needed to be was just killed by a player with about a weeks investment in the game, that players final move essentially screwed the party completely over.
So in short, months of lumping around dungeons was just derailed in a few moments of 'fun'. We had a Cleric turn up for less than one combat. We had Clerics disappear MID combat. ALL of these things can end badly for the party. It gets old short.
So yeah I welcome our new Wayang Overlord, I'm just hoping we can haul that campaign back into line before it loses any more momentum... five months dicking around a dungeon is about 3 months too long for this here dr00d!
