Hey folks for Heart of Runes. Some of you MAY remember me (although its been nearly a year now) as the player of Gerlick/Emil.
My life has settled down GREATLY (after losing my job, being unemployeed for about 2 months, getting a new job, and then moving twice in the span of 6 months) and is back on a normal track, and Zyren has invited me to rejoin the group. Guess he liked my style haha. I am going to be making a new character, and wanted to see what you guys could use in the party.
Fighter? Alchemist? Sorcerer? Druid? You guys tell me what you think you need / want to see in the party and I will get to building and rolling.

Someone to get us off this damn roof before we get salughtered. I don't even want to think about this things capabilities when we're on bad ground. If anyone had a dispel magic on her fly I would say me and harry grab her and toss her off the roof while filling it with arrows the whole way down. And then toss a gargoyle on top of her.

Alright so whatever my heart desires! :O
Lets get some dice rolled and see what I end up with stat wise.
Per Zyren it was Roll 4 dice, 7 times. Then drop the lowest die from each roll and the lowest overall roll. If the sum of the remaining rolls is 80+ you have a char
Thinking Monk, Fighter, or Alchemist. Those are classes I want to mess with.
I am gonna put all these rolls under a spoiler tag cause its getting rather silly.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 2) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 4) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 2) = 16
Dropping Lowest Die and Score gives me the following 6:
7
12
14

= 77
Ok so no good. Try again!
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 4) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 5) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 2) = 12
This time I got (dropping lowest die and score)

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 6) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 2) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 2) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 6) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 5) = 18
This time I got (dropping lowest die and score)

Totals out to 69. I am getting lower every time! Roll set number 4!
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 3) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 4) = 20
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 6) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 3) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 3) = 16
This time I got (dropping lowest die and score)

4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 1) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 3) = 17
This time I got (dropping lowest die and score)

Totals out to 81!
This is the set I am gonna work with then!
Now to figure out what class....

He's concerned by the vanishing Half-Orc mystery. We started with three, now there's one. The other two vanished in mysterious circumstances and Karlan swears he knows nothing about it.
Like I mean Gerlick I can understand, he didn't make nice with 'La Familglia', and so he went on the missing list, but surely poor Kanyk was a made guy!?

Ummm I think he was a bit of a challenege because of how hard you gimped him. I already have one gimpy healer driving me up the wall elsewhere, can I not have another? :p

ROFL - I bet I could guess which one that would be.

Here is the monk! Does this meet your approval Shifty? TarkXT? :P
Two questions, why Weapon Finesse and why 18 Dex but 14 Str?
If you flip these, you improve your CMB, do more damage and only lose a little AC and Reflex. Also, you gain an extra feat as you will not have to take Weapon Finesse.
Also, if you go the Dex monk, you will want to get the other Finesse feat for Combat Manuevers.
Finally, I think you are one feat short.
Typing on my phone, sorry for any mistakes.

It may be meaningless information, but still, it is at least another post ;-)

So is this.
Heavy Harry |
Starting to get my head around Cavaliers.
I keep looking at Harry going down the Cav path, but am stuck on working out how to make his AC not suck. Notionally if he went Cav next level he'd be a Lvl 6 with a lvl 1 AC (weaksauce), or go at 7 and have a 5th AC dropping a Feat into Boon Companion.
As far as Orders go it looks like Dragon is the only real option.
On the other hand I now worked out the Challenge ability ADDS the order mechanics... duh.
(Wait, I never got the hang of 3rd Ed Multiclass as it just makes me cry, regardless of starting your new class at L1, you dont get the L1 feat again do you? '5Rog+1Cav = L6 = no feat' yeah?)
Heavy Harry |
I grow my characters 100% organic - no preplanning - just shape them to their experience as they grow. On the other hand, Harry would make a killer Paladin with his second highest stat being Cha, I just can't see him turning over the LG leaf. Way too hot tempered.

By RAW - Cayden doesn't have Paladins. Only gods with either LG, LN or NG do.
For a wrathful Paladin deity I'd go to:
Ragathiel, leader of legions of heroes, one of the generals of Heaven and son of the archdevil Dispater.
or
Angradd (The Forge-Fire): The counterpart to his older brother Torag’s defensive perspective, Angradd is the god of aggressive tactics and warfare. He and Magrim watch over battles, dividing the dwarven spirits between them according to how brave they were in combat.

Nothing stops you from going ORder of The Lion either depending on your dedication to sandpoint.
I think the only issue right now is that being a 1st level cavalier his abilities are going to suck in that regard for a couple of levels. :/
As to your companion I think you might just have ot suck up the cruddy AC for a level before you take boon companion. Have you decided on your tactician feat yet? I think you should be able to qualify for Outflank.
Heavy Harry |
No more Caydenites... I don't think I could stand it :p
I've officially banned Cayden Clerics from my home games, along with Dwarves and Halflings. Yes, I admit, some days I am happy to let my prejudices run wild and free.
Harry is probably a bit too godless to become a Paladin; no matter how bright we shine a Copper it still wont be a Gold piece.
Reckon Cav with gimpy pet (until 7), the teamwork feat is either Outflank or Precise Strike.
Shifty |
Too many simply played as alcoholic numpties who carry on as though they have about a 6 wisdom and with all the horrible cliches we used to have to just grind through with Dwarves about ale and mead.
Its like there's only one way to play them.
Drives me up the wall.
Its like the deity for 12 year olds who have just discovered beer.
ZOMG.
:)

Waves - probably one of the few male Calistrans on the board, and as with Tirion I've looked more at the revenging aspect.
I usually play off the minor gods though - Milani, Sinashakti, etc - as I find them easier to mould... I have got an ugly half-orc devotee of Shelyn as well though.
