It is beautiful up there, I never remember the temperature going to school in northern NH dropping below -42F (-41C). DMHW should be able to confirm this. I am pretty sure that upstate NY has about the same comfortable temperate climate.

The rose petals and jetted tub are what sold it, huh. ;)
- That, and they are throwing in wine and chocolates on arrival. Should be some nice bushwalking up there too, even theough the temps are getting down to below 0c.
If he doesn't get mauled by some australian mountain spider shark while fending off giant death ants. And black widow goats that lay eggs. Pretty sure there will be an AU edition of the Bestiary one of these days
We're not THAT bad, pretty close though.
You end up with snakes in your sleeping bag, Goannas (big nasty lizards) thinking you are a tree and coming at you when patrolling the bush, spiders that look cute - but kill you, small Octopiii with pretty blue rings - that will kill you, gigantic salt-water crocs (5-6 yards long) that will kill you (but not too quick, they mostly drown you then put you under a log for a few days to tenderise), gigantic sharks, scorpions...yeah ok its bad.
Then there's the plantlife.
Then there's the beer.
[edit]Zomg - the post about the evil nasty things was post 6066.

Sadly there are no more black widow goats left in Australia. They were all brutally murdered by the droves in the Cassowary wars. The cassowarys spared none.

The amazing thing is how may inconsiderate people there are in these games. I do not care if you are going to be away for a few days - BUT TELL THE GAME!!!! There is nothing as frustrating as having 2-3 players and the DM posting comments waiting on someone, sometimes for days on end. If you cannot devote the time to a game - DON'T APPLY!!! It is one thing if you have to leave after several months, but becoming an inconsistent poster after less than a week and in any game I run you will find some high level murderer visiting your room after hours just for kicks.

As a note, I will be away from home for the next week. Should be able to post in the morning and evening, but there are no guarantees. If I miss a day and am holding something up, please have someone post for me. I doubt I will miss a day, but one never knows being in the road.

Anyone ever feel that there is very little difference in the way people play characters of different cultures and races in these games? Samurai may be of a LG alignment, but that does not mean they would hesitate to strike down a peasant who who got out of line. The same goes for dwarves that seem to be just short members of ZZ Top. I really hate when someone plays an agreeable cleric of a god devoted to anything but being so just they can get the weapon proficiency. What's the deal?

You are absolutely correct sir, my paladin will solve his pyromaniac problem presently. No right minded paladin of a crusading deity working in the capacity of guard captain would tolerate the presence of a deranged gnome with a penchant for burning hanging about the town causing mischief. He will be dealt with presently.

I really make a point of separating the characters (and their motivaions) out... Vic the Witch (Monarchy is there to serve the populace, who in turn serve the Monarchy for guidance and protection - long live the status quo!) is nothing like Harry (Bad boy with and old school criminal right/wrong code), who is nothing like Alcheringa (what is civilisation, and why do I care for it?), who is nothing like Cedrick (Al Swearengen is my father), who is not the gentle angel of Winter (No really, I can save the world, they are really all nice and we can all get along... mostly) who is not the highly strung Bloodless (who just wants to continue the battle between Heaven and Hell on the terrestrial battlefield), Attalas was a bit of a blank canvas of simple right/wrong - but letting his experience shape him, Murph started as damaged goods - and a shockingly badly failed SAN check is playing right out (Lets just execute all these somb!@%#es before they kill us!)... hmmm gotta make them all different.

To me a lot of mine feel the same, but I am pretty sure that each has a fairly different feel to others. Gotta admit though that Perdition (hey, fire is fun, so I burned down an orphanage by mistake, mistakes happen) versus Karlan (fight for law and good & protect the orphanage from rampaging gnomes) could be an interesting play.

I think the point where orphanages start burning down by accident is a bit beyond expecting the paladin to give a stern lecture.

"they" are often referred to as bosses...or in my case principals...
pupils are funny things, today I tried to do a short repetition on present progressive vs. simple present in a lower grade...and...they managed to forget everything we did on tenses...le sigh...

You've more than got your hand full, I'd say! I'm surprised to see you working with such a range of ages though, that's not very common over here. It's admirable. I don't think I could teach anyone younger than college age (18 and up). I don't have the patience to be surrounded by a swarm of hyper young children day in and day out, and I certainly don't have the patience to be surrounded by teenagers (at least not the smart-mouthed ones).
