Printing maps out of the PDFs...problems

I want to print maps and the like out of the PDF's but every time I do the text that comes with it does not print out. Is this normally the case or is there a way to overcome this without having to edit the individual pictures when I save them?

Anyone know???

Thanks!

Are you printing directly from the pdf reader?
I just tried (using Foxit) with the Absalom map and the text printet fine.

What I am doing is copying the image and then pasting it to another location such as MS office (Word) 2007. I did not want the text from the actual page to show up if I wanted to use the Map as a player handout. Some of the maps have DM text on it (Not IN the image itself but on the same page AS the image). By copying the image itself I can also expand it too.

So basically on page 10 of the "Haunting of Harrowstone" the Restlands Map of the Graveyard. There is DM text covering half the page, this is what I would rather not have to deal with. By copying the image itself I can do what ever I would like with it such as blowing it up to a full page and then handing it out to the players if I would like to.

But when I do copy the image none of the text from the image is copied at all. Just the image itself. This is what I would like to have done if possible.

The full page images I CAN print out from the PDF reader but not the half page ones.

Hmmm... While I'm no expert, here is what I think is happening, and your options. (Assume I'm talking about Adobe Reader (8.2) and MS Word.)

If you want to copy an image from the PDF with no text, then select the image, copy, paste into Word. Voila - you have the image and no text. (This is due to the layers in the PDF. There is an image layer and a text layer - or something like that.)

If you want to copy an image from the PDF with text, you can use the "snapshot tool" in Adobe Reader 8.2 - you select the area in the PDF you want to copy, and then the snapshot tool "takes a picture" of the area you selected. Simply paste that into Word and now you have a picture with all the text included.

Please - those more knowledgeable/technical let me know if I've botched something up.

That should work. Alternatively just use a screenshotting tool. Like on my mac, there's a tool that comes with it called "Grab". Just draw around the region you want to screenshot and cut it out. Then it'll come with the text on it. But yeah, you're right, the layers don't come when you right-click -> save.

Now, if only would the map creators put the 'S' sign for the secret doors in the text layer so that it wouldn't so up in the maps as well, i'd be delighted!

Ok, i know, that's not what the OP asked, but i had to say it! :)

Nope, not what I asked for hehe. But removing the "S" for secret doors is fairloy easy to do in a photo editing program. I am actually used to that and it takes seconds for me. Now adding text is a little more difficult considering the amount on some of the maps.
