GM calling for PBP players for 5 part series

Gamer Connection

1 to 50 of 70 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I have written a novel that would work great in the pathfinder system, so I am looking for players who would be interested in my campaign.
Story background:
You start off in a small village at a festival. A series of events happen and you have to flee the village. You are sent on a quest to find the dying dragon (the creature in charge of maintaining the balance of good and evil). You have to make it to him before and find the lone dragon egg before the dragon dies or else the world will be overcome with darkness.
This is a campaign that can be for good and evil characters, but good or neutral characters tend to make for more party cohesiveness.
If interested post your character idea and I will choose a party of 5 for my campaign.
Please limit your character ideas to core book, apg, ultimate combat and ultimate magic.
Thanks!

[spoiler alert] would have been a good idea :P

That is just information you would get in the first session as an introduction to the plot I gave nothing away....

Starting level and status of firearms? I have a couple of ideas and am just curious. Thanks!

Character Concept Proposal:

Muugru the Neutral, Half-Orc Barbarian

Muugru was born in an orc clan. His mother was a slave, though he never knew her. Muugru was a tough orc, yet very limited in intellect. His great strength helped him survive his early years being raised with orc children who always perceived him as being a lesser creature.

Muurgu's near inability to make choices for himself further complicated life in the orc clan. Although possessing some of the savageness of the orcish breed, Muugru lacked the brutal and vile traits needed to live a fullfilling life in the clan.

In his early teens, Muugru left the clan and wandered the wilds for many months until he encountered some travelling mercenaries. After a few days of travelling together the mercenaries realized how great of an asset Mugruu was. Aside from his great strength, he was a born follower. Lacking any tactical or logical thinking ability Muugru solely relies on the instructions of others. Also, lacking any understanding of the value of money for the most part Mugruu worked solely for food and the occasional sharp weapon.

Mugruu is a fairly simple half-orc with few aspirations in life other than to show people how good of a follower he can be... and accordingly he is very loyal to those that treat him well. Mugruu's only interest seems to be collecting colorful shells from ocean shorelines. He has a big sack of shells he carries and wears jewelry made from shells, and has many braided into his long thick black hair... although he tends not to be the stealthiest in a group because of the noise the clinking shells make.

Recently, the mercenaries Muugru worked with took in a job far too tough for them. The group was decimated trying to remove some bandits from a crossroads deep in the middle of a large forest. Muugru was also defeated in the combat, having been knocked unconscious and left for dead. Muugru awoke several hours later and was disraught to see the decimated reamains of his companions. Muugru sat in the middle of the road for several days while he pondered what he should do -- no ideas came to him. Fortunately a traveller happened apon him and offered to escort him to the nearest town where he could look for work. (The traveller would likely be a member of the party).

Starting lvl is 1 and you can use firearms.

Halfling sharpshooter probably Gunslinger for first two or so levels with transition into rogue (sniper). Will work up sheet and background tonight if you're at all interested.

Half-Orc Inquisitor. I don't know the alignment. I do know he is not entirely sane and is convinced he is a paladin. Right now I am looking at CG or CN(not psychotic neutral).

Is the novel up on any art sites? It sounds like a good read.

A Bard, who is passing them selves off as a Priest of Razmiran. Taking the Gun-slinger "Gun-smithing" feat at first level and mutli-classing in Ftr/Bard. Taking 'Hierloom' Weapon and other such Traits to be able to afford a gun.

A 'Fake' Gun-slinging Cleric.

Initially calling themselves 'Grey', to match their Mask colour and 'Rank' within the 'Church'.

I hope such a character peaks your interest.

*Bows*

I am also currently without a home computer atm. So actually working up such a character will be a tad problematic. Hopefully such fortunes shall change in the very near future. *Bows*

No it is not...

I like this character although I will probably make the traveler an npc. If you could work up a character sheet.

I think we could work something out to find you a firearm. If you could work up a backstory and character sheet.

Will start on story today! Do you want him linked to any other characters or NPCs? I can leave a gray area to be filled or have a direct link. I am pretty open.:) I also need to know how dark this campaign is so I can adjust the personality a bit. Thanks!

I have a character idea that I'd like to run past you. I played this character in a tabletop game until about third level when there was almost a TPK. Belgraen was the only survivor thanks to expeditious retreat and levitate combo running down a mountain. If you decide you like the idea I'll Stat him up fully. In the case of PBP I've noticed that role play tends to be superior to mechanics anyway.

Bachelor #1: Belgraen (bell-Gray-N) the elven sage. He'll be a straight wizard and if it's permitted he'll prestige into the Pathfinder Savant Prestige class found in the Seekers of Secrets book. High Int (naturally) and his first feat will be Breadth of Experience. He's 103 years old.

Belgraen is an always immaculately, if simply, dressed elf. He loathes any work that requires getting his hands dirty, but will if he feels the outcome is worthwhile. Prestidigitation was the very first cantrip he learned and he uses it several times a day to make sure he stays tidy.

Belgraen grew up in a noble house and was raised in a human built keep on the borderlands of human and elven communities and it has a dock that backs up to a major water way and is often used for trade. His father is mage of minor (or major if it helps plot) note and his mother is a diplomat between the elven and human kingdoms. The keep has a small village outside that acts as a crossroads for traveling merchants. The travelers were always interesting enough for Belgraen, but mostly because they had books from far off lands.

Belgraen could never get enough books. History books, fables, religion, geography, language Belgraen loved them all. He participated in the usual elven pastimes of sword play and bowman ship when he was required to, but only when he couldn't get out of it. He much preferred to have his nose in a book than a sword in his hand. In time he found that his interests didn't really fit with the interests of his other family members. He felt as though he had to "speak down" to them so that they could understand him. He often comes across as elitist, but it's unintentional. He simply knows that he has to explain things simply of he'll talk over peoples heads. On other occasions he is just being elitist. (personality wise think of Tesla from the Sanctuary series on SyFy. Too brilliant for his own good at times)

Over centuries he grew very tired of not being mentally stimulated. He knew he had to get away and see the world. In one of his books he read about a group dedicated to discovering the secrets of the world and sharing that knowledge. He wanted to be a part of that group.
He told him mother that he wanted to discover something brilliant and make a name for his family and it would most likely be highly valuable enough to increase the family coffers considerably. She agreed and sent him to the Home City of the Pathfinder society. Once there and after many trials and tribulations he passed the Society's tests to become a seeker of secrets, though just barely. Due to his high intelligence and the fact that he seems to know something about absolutely everything they sent him to act as a liason in *insert campaign appropriate city*. Here he continues his magely studies and acts as consultant on matters requiring varieties of knowledge. Occasionally he's called to act as a scribe, but he loathes the work as he feels it is beneath him.

What do you think? I have a couple of other idea, but I didn't want to write more than one book per post. ;-)

How many points do we start with for alloting to abilities?

I love the idea! He would be fantastic. We will be starting at lvl 1 with a 20 point buy. Please fill out a character sheet.

A little grey area to be filled in would be great! It isn't a super dark campaign, but there will be some dark twists and turns.

I am working on my background now. I do have question though. Are we using a published Campaign Setting for the adventure or one of your homebrews, or a not using a certain setting at all. I am mainly asking so I can choose my deity or give you a basic concept of the deity that I plan to worship so one of us can flesh the new made up deity out.

It is based on a novel that I have written, but for dieties and background traits, etc., use them from either the campaign setting book or the inner seas book.

Getting set to work on the background character sheet will be up for review shortly.

Kyras Acaman

Kyras Acaman, Neutral Good Ranger

Until recently Kyras lived with his father in the surrounding wilds. They stopped by the village only about once a week or so to trade the products of their hunting with the villagers.

Two weeks went by and no one had seen them. People started wondering briefly if something had happened. By the end of the third week, there was talk about going to go see if they were ok. However, as the group going to go look for them set out, they came upon the crumpled form of Kyras.

Carrying him back to the village, they cleaned and bound his wounds and waited for him to wake back up.

Upon waking he tells them he had been out checking their traps, when he noticed the woods had gotten eerily quite. Racing back to their cabin he found that their home had been devestated. Searching the rubble he found his father dead and holding his sword covered in blood.

Without understanding why this happened he gathered what few belongings he had left and his father's sword and set out to follow the tracks of those who attacked their home.

He followed the trail for almost a week before it disappeared. For three days he found nothing before heading back home to try and see what he missed.

On the way back he was set upon by some men on the road. He managed to break away from them but not before receiving a grievous wound in his side. Somehow he lost them in the woods and was trying to make his way to the village when he collapsed. The next thing he remembered was waking up in the village.

Now almost done recuperating, the festival is starting and he is eager to be on his way again. The one who took care of him convinced him to stay until atleast after the festival that way some others might be able to go with him.

Please let me know what you think. And if any changes you might suggest to work better.

At work right now so I can't get too in depth, but I have an idea to connect myself to either of the attacked characters. Write more in a bit.

While I am still very much wanting to/Looking forwards to playing/Joining this adventure.

It will still be another few days before i have a computer with which to do so.

Just got the latest news back from the shop. My old computer's state has gone from "Fixable" to "Buy a new one"...-_-

Still looking forwards to playing 'Grey' but,

So, in a few more days I shall have a computer with which to generate a character. If I have missed the boat, I understand and accept. *Bows*

My character's name will be Heshlem.

background:
Heshlem Hyrule, CN
Heshlem is a strong believer in fighting for the freedom of those too weak to fight for themselves. It is this belief that causes him to see himself as a champion of the people. His methods are not always good, but he tries his best to not let himself get lost in evil acts while trying to bring about change for the good of the weak. His lack of rules leads him to follow Cayden Cailen the one deity who understands him enough to know that paladins need more leeway than other deities are willing to give them.

When Heshlem was growing up he was taught that to be considered brave and honorable by your peers was one of the greatest compliments one could receive. He was also taught that to care for those who can't care for themselves was the mark of a true hero. Another lesson presented to him in his youth was that sometimes it is better to ignore the rules, whatever they may be, because it takes a little wrong to make things right sometimes.
He asked how can one be honorable, but not follow the rules. His father simply told him that not all rules are honorable and that he would understand when he got older, and he even added that some rules are situational as to when they should be followed and it takes great wisdom to know when to follow a rule and when not too. He did not understand that, but he always kept it in mind.

When Heshlem was about 14 he witnessed a paladin defeat some outsiders. They were only imps but they had killed about 6 people before a paladin defeated them single handedly. The way in which the paladin cut down the quasits when the others could not seem to hurt them(DR) impressed him greatly. He ask the paladin how he was about to kill them so easily. The paladin explained to him how those who serve the deities in faith sometimes receive powers from them to help them vanquish evil. He also informed him that the life of those who fight for others was hard and dangerous, and it is not everyone.
From that day on Heshlem aspired to be a paladin, not knowing that paladins are called, and one can not just choose to be a paladin. When he got home later that day he told his father of his plan to become a paladin. His father simply wished him good luck in this goal, but he knew his son did not have the discipline, however he did not have the heart to speak such words to Heshlem.
Heshlem became more and more religious as time passed. He would spar with the several of the local militia men, and do chores for them in order to learn how to use weapons, and wear armor. He intended to be ready when the time came.
The time came but not how or liked he wanted it too. The paladin who had saved several people years ago had angered a powerful necromancer in this latest quest, but he did not know he was being followed. As he was visiting a local priest undead rose from the local cemetery and marched on the town. The people picked up their weapons and fought alongside the paladin. The necromancer eventually joined the fray. Heshlem's saw the paladin fall. He was more afraid of what would happen to his friends if he did nothing than he was of what would happen if he entered the battle. He picked up the paladin's sword and snuck around behind the sorcerer who had all types of defensive spells up. That day however no magic could save him as the sword swung true. With one blow he killed the sorcerer. As he was making the final attack he noticed that the sword started to glow mid-swing. The tide of the battle turned, and the monsters were defeated, but not without great cost. His father had been killed in the battle. Heshlem however did not notice this and began to pray for people and lay hands on them. Strangely enough everyone he layed his hand on was healed of their injuries. He had done it!! He had was now a paladin, or so he thought. What he did not know was that the sword was no ordinary sword, and that it was the sword that allowed him to bypass the spells, and heal those who had been injured in battle. Cayden Cailean saw great potential in Heshlem, and so he gifted him with the powers of an inquisitor. The sword was eventually buried with the paladin a few days later, but by then Heshlem was convinced he was a paladin. The thought of his father not being alive to see this accomplishment wounded him greatly. Over time the local churches tried to convince him that he had not been gifted with a paladin's powers, but he would not hear any of it. No amount of reasoning could convince the young “paladin” that he had not been selected to represent Cayden Cailean.

Are we going to get traits and what is the starting wealth level?

If I am selected it might take a few days to make the actual character.

Edit:His alignment will start off as CN. The idea is to make him slowly move over to CG.

I love the character! You will definantly be part of the party. Yes, you can start with any 2 traits, and I will give each character a campaign specific trait during the first session. As stated above, there is a 20 point buy for attributes. And the characters will start at level 1.

Breath in. BOOM! Breath out. The creature standing over the fallen man stands for a moment, a small hole now occupying the center of its forehead. Smoke and blood begin to creep from wound as the creature doubles over backward. " Funny how fate works like that.", Frizzen thinks to himself. Drawing the blue-black barrel of his musket slowly back into the bush, the halfling quickly reaches into his cartridge satchel and retrieves a paper tube containing shot and powder. Gripping the top with his teeth, he rips it open, empties the contents into the muzzle and rams it in a smooth practiced motion.
After a short period of time passed, the shooter eased himself from his hiding place moving silently to the side of of the stricken man. Slinging his gun across his back, Frizzen patched the man's wounds. With a short whistle a large Rottwieler baring a small saddle came bounding to his side. "Good boy,Powder.", he said as he rubbed the dogs ear. "We need to get this fella to town." With that he quickly loaded the man on a make shift skid and headed for a village he knew to be near this very area.

History
Frizzen has only ever gone by this single name. Orphaned at an early age the only real thing Frizzen remembers about his past is his father teaching to shoot a gun. This lesson was well learned as he took quickly to the art. Taken by the gunsmith who was his father's partner, Frizzen learned all there was to know about firearms. A little man with a big gun can make a huge mark on the world and Frizzen is set on proving this point. Outgoing and always willing to standup for what's right, even if it is what he percieves as right, Frizzen is always on the lookout to aid the downtrodden and underdog.
Well known in the halfling world and even more so in the goblinoid, Frizzen plies his trade with deadly skill and accuracy. Hearing of some interesting happenings in village not too far from where he had been staying, Frizzen packed is constant companion,Powder, and headed off to find adventure.

I will flesh out his appearance and can provide a more detailed History if this seems to be going the direction you are looking for.

A halfing gunsliger / rogue with a dog mount would fit very well in the campaign. If you could work up a character sheet that would be great.

In the works now!:)

For DM Erefine:Character Background:
The 'Church' of Razmir preaches that theirs is the only one, true living god. Razmiran is a realm devoted to its ruler Razmir, who claims he is a living God as he asserts that he achieved this divinity by passing the "Test of the Starstone" and now who claims Razmiran as his own.

Details of original Golarion Razmiran Faith:

Of all the high priests and priestesses, most know the truth. That while Razmir and the organization surrounding and supporting him are powerful, Razmir is no god. The whole edifice being run as a very elaborate and magic supported 'Confidence' trick.

Once such priestess was a dissolute Half-Elf woman who's skill as a bard saw her rise quickly in the outer cloisters. Using her power and influence she gathered others who were, while not clergy of actual faith, did believe in helping those around them. She also found the anonymity afforded by the church trappings as a way of conducting all sorts of other business.

It was as the multitude of recruits and 'penitents' filed through her temples doors that Elisedral noted the amount of Half-Elves that were also drawn towards the church. Those of mixed breeds seeking to find a 'path' in life. One such other half-Elf and herself joined and the resulting child grew up enfolded with her mothers church demises.

*Name* Has learnt much growing up in the church of Razmir. 'Belief' is almost as powerful as 'Faith'. 'Dis-information' as useful a tool as honesty. With the anonymity afforded by the church as a base 'Grey' stalks the land, a faceless figure acting as the cover for a vigilante who seeks to ease things towards the path of goodness, one small event at a time.

So, kind of a Paizo-an 'Bat-Fem'...

Starting Trait(1): Heirloom Weapon; Revolver (Advanced Alkenstar weapon)
Starting Trait(2): Rich Parents; Start with 900 Gp (Spent on Revolver)
Starting Feat(Level1/General): Gun-Smith; *Basically build and maintain Guns, Black Powder, etc.
Starting Feat(Bard Stuff):

How much gold do we get? I forgot to include my character appearance in my character creation. I will have it in the final character build though which should be done in an hour or less. If I spend more gold than you give me I will just adjust down, and my stats will be statted out so you know where everything comes from.

Example:
Melee Attack +8-->BAB +4, Str mod +3, weapon focus +1,

I guess I won't finish today, but I only have spells left.

Muugru report'n for duty. (See profile for character sheet)

I am building an Inquisitor as you all know, but I would like to know what the other are playng if they don't mind telling so we don't step on each other's toes to much.
I would also like to know if we already know each other.

I'm not sure if he has decided yet, but I submitted a ranged based ranger.

Hello to all.

*Bows*

Assuming I am also included, the character's classes shall be Bard/Fighter though I shall be using a LOT of disguise skills etc to appear as a Cleric or other as the case may be.

*Bows*

I am waiting for people to post their character sheets before making the final decision, but even if we have an unbalanced party I will find a way to make it all mesh together. Once character sheets are posted and final decisions made I will do a private role play with each character where a trait is given as well as secrets for them. I hope to make the decision by Saturday night of this week. Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in the campaign.

I will hold off on spell selection for now. I will be able to be a party face to an extent. My bluff and intimidate should be decent. My diplomacy not so much. I also will have ranks in sense motive. I will try to be the melee damage guy to an extent also.
I am leaning towards more selfish spells, but if we don't get a buffer I may buff first and then wade into combat afterwards.

I am Heshlem/Wraithstrike. My guy is complete except for spells chosen.

"All they ever hear is is the soft click before the darkness falls."

Frizzen 1 Gunslinger with rogue levels to come. Lookin' to be your guardian angel ifin' you like to get up close and personal when you deal your death.

This is Kysterick with Kyras Acaman.

I did have a question about equipment. I did have extra bowstring and a spoon of diokles(the arrow removal tool) but I know those aren't listed in any book. How would you want to handle those? Just ignore them or something else?

The character sheet is pretty close to complete and ready to go, but I still ned to add ammo and a couple of sunderies. From a build standpoint it is finished, though. -Bilbo

I think that those would be essential tools for a bow crafter, so yea I think that those are fine.
