Magic Items for characters who start at Higher levels

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I am starting a secondary group with my players for a plot line, in essence running two groups. The players have made the characters which start at 10 level. here is the problem, the core rules stat that the players who start at 10th level should have 62,000 gold to purchase equipment and such. this will allow them to purchase items which are over what i would like them to start with. I thought about cutting the gold they are allowed, but I didn't know if there were better ideas out there to handle Magic Item purchase.

You can also cap how much can be spent on each item. You can also line item veto. Or you can generate the equipment yourself. You've got lots of options.

Whatever you do, don't let players double their item allotment by claiming they can do so with item creation feats. If you want to allow the feats you can, but don't adjust the WBL for them.

I'm pretty sure theres a line that says they cannot buy any one item over half the total value of their WBL.

Morever. What my group often does is Let the players spend half their WBL on big six items, etc. Then randomly rolls to generate enough loot to cover 125% the other half, and lets them sell it off etc. Metropolises can only sell items of 16,000 odd gp, so any other items are strictly controlled.
