I have not updated Maptools or my Mac OS since the last Apple update because I heard that Maptools would not work with it.
Tanks everyone I got it working after completely uninstalling java and uninstalling maptools. Then reloaded everything with an old version of java 6. Converted a few file names and finally it works.
So I had a near death experience involving my family, the car, and airborne acrobatics. I'm alive, but not well, so it may be a day or two before I can post regularly. I'll give more details later. Car crushed on one side. Which happened to coincide with the side I was on.

The car I was in. The front door is open because I opened it. This thing flipped twice after the blown tire and landed on top of the guard rail.
Another view. I'm around 6'6" (I don't know how that translates for europeans) so naturally I got smushed. With cuts along the top of my head and a concussion to match. My left elbow is badly bruised and a left clavical is fractured. All this along wiht little cuts everywhere like a deep one on my thumb and another in the ball of my right hand.
This picture gives a good idea of distance. Not that we could tell inside the car but apparently we turned 180 degrees in the middle of the road when we careened off and flipped twice over the grass before the guard rail caught us.
In the end my fiance walked out wiht some nasty bruises and lots of complaints about the hospital staff and my daughter got away without a scratch whereas I may have to replace this pair of blue jeans such as they are covered in dried blood.
The only reason I'm posting this I think, is because given how sudden, how fast, and you can tell by the pics how destructive, it all turned out I guess I'm simply amazed to still be alive. Sore, hurt, shaken, and going to have to worry about replacing the undoubtedly totaled care, but alive.

Got the gameplay thread up for the 7 swordsman game. Going to try and get everyone updated today. Will be difficult. The family is feuding and I'm caught in the middle.

Tark, I saw the car pics linked upthread - was that just from a flat tyre? I (and my dog) walked away from a similar wreck in a van with just a sore shoulder on me (from a flying pick-handle) and a cut on my dog's shoulder. He freaked and ran away from the scene and I had to abandon the van (full of my possessions, I was moving house) hitch a ride with a passing motorist and track him down. Found him about 5 k's down the road running like mad. I spent the night under a bush as the cops wouldn't let me stay in a cell with my dog...
I'm better than some, worse than others. Overall having a great day on the PbP's, though.

Hi, I'm one of the others chosen for the 7 swordsman PbP. I must say one thing though. What this board needs is more Tengu avatars. Only 2, it's an outrage. What if we had had 3 Tengu characters in the PbP.
Anyway, looking forward to the game.
I'm still busy with getting my profile in order, and before long it should look similar to what I do with my other profiles. Also need to go over the clerical spell list to see what I'm all going to have prepared on the trek to the village.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the lack of vegepygmies is an outrage. Or human males that aren't…I dunno, not applicable. You'd think that with over 570 avatars you'd find one you like, half of them are Valeros…. ;) Oh, wait, I'm a Valeros too….

Tark, I hope it's okay if Skales' inventory is a tad... lacking. With 23500 gp to spend, and being as neurotic as Skales is with his merchant tendencies, he's basically got a hodgepodge of every kind of thing imaginable sitting in his cart.
Is it alright if I just say he's digging something out of his cart and subtract the necessary cost from his total? Kinda like spell components only... more mundane?
I've done something similar before and wanted to make a suggestion: A good way to represent this in a balanced fashion would be to reskin the Cost of Living rules, paying 1,000gp per month and treating your merchant wagon as an extravagant lifestyle for the purposes of pre-paid meals, what you can dig up, and how long it takes to find.
Instead of paying for an extravagant lifestyle, you're paying for merchant stock and mercantile taxes. Instead of a mansion, you have a wagon full of goods. Works out pretty perfectly I think.
It also keeps you from stepping on the toes of halflings, who have a feat that allows them to do something similar to what you are asking.
He shouldn't have more than 2nd levle character wealth anyway.
Which can still make an impressive cart full of trade goods if that's the effect you want to go for.

They were all done. :) Anway posting from a strange and alien computer with a scrunchy ke board and incredible shoulder pain. Esiting for the painkillers to kick in and then getting people moved on.
On the agenda, getting the rebeles to actually kick in the g+@&#!n door, watching Tal annihilate expectations about one handed weapons and fighters with a couple well thought out buffs, shooting the wastelanders, and seeing what the pirates want to do about the gruesome beach volleyball. And last but not least getting the swordsman together so Daren ma mend his wounded pride.
