Yeh, I REALLY wish we had maps. There is a lot that gets missed because of the speed of the campaign. At the same time he is incredibly detailed and really adds interesting things to the campaign. His background of the NPCs is unreal.
Just looked, we have had 228 posts in the past 48 hours. Faster than most 16 month old campaigns.
I was this guy in the WoTW game along with Lady Rose the anti-paladin. We we going through the basement of Thorn's manor when we lost the DM.
Yeh, I am getting more and more hesitant to join campaigns with new DMs or anyone with great and grandiose plans for where the campaign is going to eventually go. I cannot even count how many campaigns I have been in have had the DM go awol - in one campaign we lost 3 DMs.
Anything more than the standard '20 point buy, 2 traits, no summoners,etc' turns me off these days and I never make profiles until I am accepted and will probably start recycling.
I look at the recruitment occasionally just to see what is there, but rarely as those are the ones that usually die. I am in enough campaigns at this point that I can usually find someone looking for a player if really feel I need a new campaign.

Most of the neighborhood are tuned into the same broadcast as I walk my dawg. No traffic. Loving the serenity. I look forward to the awkward conversation pauses tomorrow when people try to engage my opinion of the game/commercials/halftimeshow that I didn't watch.
Mostly I've been scrambling to make some kind of headway in the financial department. There's only so much poverty a family is willing to take.
So looking for a new job, trying to get some more freelance work to get some extra money here and there. Posting's going to be a bit slow for a bit until things are at a point where a flat tire does not spiral into homelessness.

Hey, it is always warm here. We only got 14 inches last week and are supposed to get 12-18 more tomorrow. But it could be worse, I have a friend just north of me where it was a toasty -15F this morning.
It's been nice that Germany has escaped the harsh winter so far, though last year it caught up to us in March.

I am seeking advice regarding roleplaying my character. Should I play "best practices" or stay within character? ie play the paranoid murderhobo or let the ignorant character learn via hindsight despite my player anticipation of an early demise? I do try to avoid the meta but still I cringe when I know the PC actions are likely to lead to hard times. Your opinion?

You could gradually learn from experience and role play the downward spiral into becoming a paranoid murderhobo.
I see no distinction between "best practices" and "paranoid murderhobo". But then I also see the laughing baby-sun from teletubbies riding a blazing ark being pushed by a dung beetle whenever I look outside.

I find it hilarious you mention shariah. I think it was North Carolina where one lady wrote and forced a law to pass where religious groups could ask for state funds to build churches. When she found out 500 of the applicants were muslim groups wanting to build mosques she turned on the law faster than you can say "Allahu Ackbar" . :)
