Good luck Tark. We will be waiting at the entrance to the demo/devil when you come back.

You gave Lorn a kill when she hydraulic-pushed Chumlett into the shark-infested waters.
Lorn's own efforts at removing future liabilities from whatever plots go on behind her eyeballs finds success as Fipps Chumlett the fat arse flies off the plank with a muffled cry followed by a satisfying splash and further cries of shock and horror as the sharks answer the dinner bell

Hey y'all, in the week since I've applied I've gotten busier, including another campaign I've been accepted into while I was waiting. Since you've got another great applicant I think I'm going to bow out.
Thanks and best of luck to y'all.
Hahaha too funny. [/shakes head]

Tark/Nobles/Pirates
I have some bad news. Work has tightened up on 'personal' use of the net. So I will have to drop out of both the Nobles and the Pirates game.
I and very sorry. These games, particularly the exploits of Pollux in the nobles game, have been a real source of enjoyment. I will miss you all.
Thank you for the game.

Pollux - sentiments expressed in the other games hold true here as well.
Once we get out of the dungeon I'm guessing the Nobles need a re-group time. Caldazar is the only remaining original, though Tal's been around for the full second book.
Mostly though - we need to have a serious tete-a-tete with Trevor plus whoever else we get to join... I'm sensing a few differences between Trevor and Caldazar's approach to how things need to be done - something that would be best approached and addressed outside of the dungeon environment.
The crux is (I think) that Trevor is a lot nicer than Caldazar intends to be. Previously Cal had Merax running point on that destruction vibe - and Pollux was ambivalent morally to that. With the loss of those two - it's just Caldazar the bloodied rose, Tal the happily married Gorumite, and Trevor - the nice? (note: neither of those are intended as a derogatary term)
Any fourth or potentially fifth as well member we grab is going to have a big impact on shaping the whole group's approach and forward thrust. Again - will be worth playing out in real time and with those additionals included.

Man sorry to hear that Pollux. I know the feeling. I have to use my ipad on breaks or lunch to check updates and do quick posts. I enjoyed the craziness you brought and forgot how many times I was laughing till I was crying and my wife was asking what was wrong. Hopefully things settle down for you soon as I for one would love to have you back at some point. Good luck.
Caldazar, I agree with you that the nobles need to have a discussion as to the direction we take. Tal the Gorumite was all about combat but was the least bloodthirsty of the group compared to Caldazar and Meraxilar. As it stands, Tal is just trying to improve the city for his wife's sake even if that means a few (ok more than a few) deaths by his hands. How this plays out though is interesting as are we going for more bloodthirsty vengeance and damn all who get in our way or are we going to be more subdued in out approach. As you are the last original member I will mostly follow your lead but am in favor of ask first then kill. But then again I have no sense motive and even worse diplomacy.
If we do get another member or 2 what should we look for? A rogue for traps and opening chests and an arcane spellcaster? We would have all the areas covered then with Caldazar being our face and 'moral guide'. Would like to know before we level up so I don't spend all skill points and the feat on disable device just to open chests if we find ourselves a rogue.
Trevor Culexis |
Well I'm trying to get a handle on this but Trevor is going for a more burn-em approach to Saraenae-ism. He wanted to see if anything could be gleaned from the assassin and then hit her with the Runecurse.
He was also down with setting the Otyugh loose on the Mayor. While he is willing to try to be moderate with those he isn't sure of, a big group of people jumping up and down while your comrades cut rot grubs out of themselves has pretty much sealed their fate to him.
If said Abadar priest is chucking kids out to get killed with a shrug then go get him, but if there is something there that be saved he'll make the effort.
A Roguish type might help. There have been many posts about just how effective a rogue is regarding traps but having someone around who cna pop locks without us having to smash things can be useful. Scouting is less an issue and might not be desirable since we inch along.
As for magic, having area control is always useful. Once Trevor gets up a few levels he can start buffing more(Magic Circle) and Blessing of Fervor is a great buff.
Caldazar |
The points of contrast are more along the lines of whatever the name of the annoying Iomedean and the urchins? - Trevor made a couple of off-hand comments about involving them... whereas Caldazar burned those bridges long ago and then set fire to the ashes.
Again - I think it'll be pretty natural when we play out the spillout with the Pathfinder that hired us. I'm not seeing it being an overly bile filled conversation - more a back and forth where we establish the path forward. Similarly important to get the 1/2 newbies in as well so that we can do it all in a one-er.

Regarding the priest he has since stopped selling children since the person he was selling them off to was blackmailed by your former wizard into keeping the orphanage funded.
You'll recall the priest wasn't exactly doing it for profit, but to make sure the other kids in the orphanage don't starve to death.
TarkXT |
Hey, just putting the information out there. But, I should point out that Caldazar would have sense enough (and still has good alignment enough to care) to realize the priest is the only one watching over these children. So, that would be something to be taken into account before we dive headfirst into CN territory.
I seem to recall Caldazar was a father...
Caldazar |
Caldazar had a father. Original Pitch:
Caldazar grew up on the outskirts of Westcrown, the son of a workman and his mother died in childbirth. When in his teens, his father attempted to unionise against his opressive factory boss. His father was made an example of and executed publically. He was forcibly stopped from retribution by a stranger, and whisked out of town while his anger cooled.
The stranger was a devotee of Milani, and instructed him on her ways. After a few years training, he returned for vengeance only to find that the factory boss had already been killed by another. His focus shifted to freeing others who live under the yoke, and he has been actively seeking out a resistance movement to join.
Though the influence of Merax over time likely darkened his outlook somewhat - and my own development of the character.
I'd agree that he's more CN now than he is CG.
Caldazar |
Partially outlook defining conversation - his outlook was set reasonably low on the moral compass when he shacked up with a Rovagugian and decided to kill 'em all.

I do admit I get rather sad when I think about the work I put into choosing the original characters of the group and then watch them leave. PoW has been one of those reliable people that made interesting characters. Ryzern was definitely a refreshing fellow who made me rethink a couple of scenarios by dint of being a wizard whose balls kept hammering the deck everytime he walked around.
LeVash would have been great to see played out and maybe worked out his differences with bloodless.
Sclivian would have been a fantastic character to see played out to his fullest. Meraxilar too was a gamble on my part and it would have been fun whether or not it inevitably ended in a flaming rooftop confrontation between him and Caldazar in a confrontation of the gods.
I've all but given up on such grand plans these days knowing they'll never come to fruition before fate snatches such plans from my grasp.
