A couple of comments. The flash and super high resolution really exaggerates the dried varnish. They look much cleaner in your hands or on the table. They especially look nice from arms length, I think. I am considering painting all the glued on bases black too to get rid of the pools of varnish on the plastic bases. Not sure I'm going to go to the trouble though, the point of these was to get a big collection of much needed minis for my campaign world quickly and cheaply, and I feel that's been done now. I'm pleased with the results, but if I do something like this again, I will use a lighter varnish, or may just do an ink wash next time.

Congratulations on your marathon session of painting.

Well done.

Those are perfectly good paint jobs, and outstanding considering the time frame.

Congrats! You set yourself a goal and followed through. The results are pretty remarkable considering the time you allowed yourself. Kudos!

Thanks for the kind comments. I am happy with the resuts. Not "ecstatic" but pretty close to "thrilled." I am something of a perfectionist, and the varnish buildup on the shields and armor in particular bugs me, but I suspect even an ink wash would have had similar results. That's just the cost of spending seven minutes per miniature on painting them. I think they came out pretty nice considering the average length of time I spent on them.

And now I have most of the large numbers of NPCs I needed for my game. I still need to round out a few areas, but since this campaign is a political intrigue campaign involving a still smoldering civil war, lots of troops with different weapons and gear are required to pull it off well. Now I can have the "Elflord Elites" accompany the elf king and queen, I can have appropriately armored and color coded soldiers stationed as guards, roaming as patrols and involved in battles. I can put the orcs into play as not just a bunch of random minis, but a color coordinated army and the same is true for the dwarves.

The main thing I am missing is just normal townsfolk, so that's something I will start looking into. I probably need 40 or so townspeople miniatures, but I can't find a set of properly sized non-combatants anywhere. If anyone knows of one, let me know.

I didn't consider the painting to be a grind until I started seeing the end of the effort coming closer. Then it seemed like the last few steps took FOREVER because I was wanting to be finished, but most of the painting was more relaxing than stress inducing.

I wouldn't recommend having me paint your miniatures Baron. Although I learned enough from this effort to feel like my next effort would be more successful.

I do have a bunch of minis in my backlog to paint, plus I need to make or buy a few more, but right now I'm feeling pretty caught up. In fact last night I built a prototype catapult that actually works.
