After killing the stone giants near Storval Stairs, one of my PC's made his Knowledge (Nobility) check and has correctly identified the crown as the Lost Crown of Pallgreves.

Has anyone else had PC's develop an obsessive interest in the crown?

I looked around and can't find any major description of Janderhoff or any clan/families. I was thinking of having the Pallgreves be a family whose prestige and influence has fallen from what it might once have been. Possible the lost prestige could be linked to the loss of the family crown and the circumstances of how the crown was lost.

The PC want to take the crown back to Janderhoff and return it to the family, not for money, but for possible future help (troops etc.). If the rumors the PC have heard of the stone giants amassing an army turn out to be true they figure they might need the build a army to try and stop the stone giant's assault.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In my campaign, the player that had been made Lady Rannick did this, and used the return of the crown to improve ties with the dwarves, and convince them to (with her assistance) establish a colony at Hook Mountain as a way of gaining allies to her north and increasing trade.

Haven't gotten that far yet, but it seems like something my players would do. I'll probably just do what you did, say it's from a fallen noble house of dwarves and returning it to the dwarves will help out Ft. Rannick/the PC's.

My party just hasn't had time yet to return the crown, though they want to do so. They're trying to wrap up Sins of the Saviors now.

I am probably going to tie the crown in to the Vekker brothers in Spires of Xin-Shalast, since they were from Janderhoff as well. I plan to use the letter Brodert Quink will show the PCs as a hook to just go to Janderhoff and investigate there directly. That way, they can garner some goodwill with the return of the Crown of the Pallgreaves, and as part of their reward get more info regarding the failed expedition by the Vekkers. It also feels like returning the crown has a bit more significance to the overall story (I hope). :)

One of my party accepted guardianship of Fort Rannick and the surrounding area as well, so the idea of garnering dwarven allies that Kharis2000 mentioned above will probably happen in my game as well!

Hello, sorry for my enlish ^ ^
Just have played a game, where my players found the crown. That was actually funny, because they've immediately teleported to Janderhoff and get this crown to the Old one of the Pallgreves. They've managed not only get for it 12 000 gold, but got a word that they'll get assistance from Dwarves.

Also Wizard outdrink the elder of that clan... well technically. They both have drunk 1 full glass of dwarven moonshine and both (dwarf got a fumble) lost consciousness

Silver Crusade

My group never found this. They skipped the Storval Stairs altogether, teleporting from Sandpoint to Fort Rannick before taking the overland journey into the mountains, to attack the giants from the opposite direction of what the AP expects.

Mine skipped the Stairs as well. They used Wind Walk to fly to the general area of Jorgenfist.

I introduced the Pallgreaves relatively early on - they were the dwarves that the mayor brought into town to help wall up the Catacombs below the Glassworks.

If my players had interacted with them in some meaningful way, I might have given them some backstory about the crown and perhaps even the increasingly hostile nature of the stone giants of the area.

I haven't gotten to them finding (or not finding) the crown.

Mine found it and while in downtime, summoner teleported to Janderhoff, to give it back. Considering there isn't much info on this Sky Citadel, let alone about its society and rulers/nobility, I described the last as some kind of oligarchy. Pallgreaves are in my Golarion, the most rich dwarven clan inside Janderhoff (owning the Gassforges in Riddleport). Because of that, the patriarch of the clan is ruling High Oligarch of the city.
Summoner was very happy wheh he received that money as reward. Not because he did a nice thing, but because he's greedy. Looking at what is happening now - he is really aiming to take big K title of Runelord of Greed...

Mine found the crown, and even learned about the noble house that lost it, but never actually followed up on it. I think they just sold it for the base amount. *shrug*

One of my player's had the Campaign Trait from the APG that allows them to use Ameiko as an intermediary for selling things (which generally just means they get 10% more money) and had her put them in contact with someone heading to Janderhoff willing to work as an intermediary for a cut of the reward. Which was fine with me, because I didn't feel like working up a side jaunt to Janderhoff anyway.
