New Player Question

I've been getting ready per the handbook for my first game, trying to find a character generator and such (herolab comes with DRM i've read and I'm not comfortable with that on this system) and I thought I found one but then I find out from a friend there are banned traits and such that, and their not listed in the base handbook. Then as I'm trying to find out my traits books to check those I find out one of mine is apparently "fan material" according to the SRD.

What I want to check is these 2 Traits mostly (though a list would be nice)

Heirloom Weapon
Scholar of Ruin

Any help is appriciated

What you're looking for is the "Additional Resources" page found here. It will let you know which traits are legal and which are not.

I'm not sure I understand this statement with respect to Herolab. It's a great program, with incremental costs for additional books you want to use. The base purchase covers your core rule book material as well as several free release addons. There is also a demo version you can install and try.

I haven't used PCGen in a while, but it was also a very nice (totally free) program, however it didn't have a way of expressly locking you into PFS legal content like Herolabs can.

As Ryan mentioned though, what you are looking for really is the Additional Resources page :) Welcome aboard!
