So, my son, nearly 9 years old wants to join and play. Are there any adventures which can be run in a very short time (maybe the one from Kobold?) ~2h? We start at 8pm, and that is stretching it. And esp. are there adventures being appropriate for a 9 year old?

The new "Quest" from Kobold Quarterly is supposed to be a 2 hour event. My 9 year old daughter loves PFS and has been playing for 9 months now. She is usually more interested in the story than in the fighting. Scenarios where she can help people seem to be preferred over scenarios where she is killing people.

Have you ever thought of splitting a regular scenario into two parts? I got a group in my home time that includes three 9 year olds and three parents. We are starting a regular weekly game where I plan on splitting scenarios into 2 two hour sessions. This will allow us to play on weeknights. We will start at 6pm and finish between 8 and 8:30pm.

Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

As far as appropriate... you know your son better than us

Black waters is great for some, but awful for others because
Spoiler:
It's set in the ruins of a school, and they get to interact with ghosts of children, some kids enjoy it because its an encounter they can relate to.. but having it be the spirits of kids who died at school can kinda creep them out

I have run about a dozen PFS games for kids ranging from 8 to 14. If the game is during the weekend, we usually get it done in one shot, but the weekday games were broke into 2 sessions. Many of the scenario's have to be minorly converted to a "G" rating when it comes to the story, but nothing too cumbersome. Some of my favorites for kids:

Silent Tide - Keeps them on track and moving.
Mists of Mwangi
The Devil We Know series -
Voice in the Void -
Master of the Fallen Fortress (great intro module)
Before the Dawn series

For large groups of kids I try to get them to stick to a few factions so that at least two of them share a mission which makes it fun for them to work together - They usually stick with Andoran or Taldor.

The quests look like fun but the kids get nothing for it besides a boon, so that may be disappointing for them.

They have really enjoyed it so far and now my 12 year old wants to try to run us through a scenario. It will be a great learning experience. Good luck to you and have fun!

Mists of Mwangi can be run in 2-3 hours and has monkeys! How can it get any better for a 9 year old?

Thanks for all the suggestions, might try Mists - without a potty break. Fortunately my kids are all out of this stage now.
