Updating the Artificer - My Take

Hey guys,

I love the artificer, but It's sooo out of date. Here's what I've done to try and fix it. Also, I need a lot more schemes for it to work. Anyone got some ideas?

Any questions let me know. I was hasty through it.

I'm reading your document and is well presented, very neat.

Regarding to the mechanics, why have you used a new skill (Craft Science) instead of Spellcraft?

After all, the description of the Spellcraft skills reads (as per Pathfinder SRD):

You are skilled at the art of casting spells, identifying magic items, crafting magic items, and identifying spells as they are being cast

With the Science feature you are imbuing a magic spell in a device, so why don't use the Spellcraft skill that already exists and figures in the core rulebook instead of creating a new one?

Why not just replace the xp storing ability with one that breaks down magic items into a form of magical essence. The essence is worth an amount of gp equal to the value of the item, or if you think that is too much you can say 1/2 of the item. When you go to make a new item you can use the essence value to create the item or add the essence value to your gold amount if you are want keep some of you gold for something else. Everything with the artificer seemed pretty good.

IIRC actions points in Eberron could allow you to cast the infusions faster. If you are not using Eberron then you can include a mechanic that allows you to speed up the infusions so many times per day, and or make them last longer.
