61 people marked this as a favorite.

Because i spent a good deal of time last night locating guides, i thought that it would be good to share my findings with the rest of the forums so that new posters don't have to look all over the place for them.
(If any of the writers has a problem with me sharing them, please say so)

Treantmonk's Guides:
Ranger Guide here.
Wizard Guide here.
Monk Guide here.
Bard Guide here.
Druid Guide Part 1 here.
Druid Guide Part 2 here.
Druid Guide Part 3 here.

Rogue Eidolon's Guides:
Rogue Guide here.
Fighter Guide here.
Cleric Domain Guide here.

Ogre's Guides:
Sorcerer spell selection guide here.
Alchemist Guide here.

Cryptic's Paladin Guide is here.

MinstrelintheGallery's Sorcerer Guide here.

Tark's Cleric Guide here.

Saph's Summoner Guide can be found here.

If there are more of them out there please provide links.
(Some of the images on those guides may be a little off because of the convertion to pdf).

EDIT: Added Ogre's guides

I personally would love for this to be made into a sticky. It takes a while to dig around the forums for these things.\

For example i didnt think there was a summoner guide.

0gre's Guides:
Alchemist's Guide
Sorcerer Spell Selection Guide

+1 for sticky.

Oh, i didn't know that Ogre has made an alchemist guide.

Thank you for sharing.

Sovereign Court

Oh yes. Sticky for sure. My fellow players who are fresh from 3.5 are always asking on what they could do to be more effective and using the guides as advice saves time and aggravation. Thanks for this.

Here's a new one: Elewan's Barbarian Guide.

Yes i saw it but from what i understood (from the thread) it still needs some work.

But thank you for bringing it to attantion.

+5 sticky of greater stickiness!

I've been lurking for a summoner guide for ages.

Dark Archive

This is really helpful, thanks.

Nice, thanks.

Awesome you have my guide. One of these days I'll have to update it for the APG.

Oh and +8 for sticky. Having all the guides listed in one place is really, really helpful.

+10 Stickiness. My group got back together for the first time in 10 years and these guides were immensely helpful not only for optimization, but also for learning about and understanding changes in the game.

+1 to stickieness...

There should be a option to flag this thread for sticky...like there is for FAQ.

I guess we could just make an effort to bump this on a regular basis so it is essentially sticky...

Kolokotroni wrote:

That's what she said...

hmm might be extra incentive to sticky this if the bumping will just devolve in to an endless string of bad jokes to keep it near the top of the forums.

I was actually just searching the forums for a Summoner guide, but couldn't find one, then a few days later this thread popped up. Incredibly useful, very much appreciated, and another +1 for stickiness.

Such a great list, but no Inquisitor which is what I happen to be in the market for. A shame.

NightTrace wrote:

It's tough--most guide writers, like me, want to give you the value of our personal experience with the classes.

Inquisitor is new, and unlike Alchemist and Summoner, it didn't draw as much attention in the playtest (those classes needed major changes) that as many people started playing one quickly. For instance, I would be able to write a Summoner or Alchemist guide easily (I actually almost started writing an Alchemist guide but went to check to make sure there wasn't one and saw that 0gre's had gone up basically that day), but I agree with Saph's and 0gre's enough to think that we don't need any more.

If I have more time, I'll probably update my old guides for the APG, and after that, maybe a Cavalier guide or an Oracle Mystery guide--my brother is begging me to do the latter and he and I have done the preliminary research for it, so maybe I'll do that one when I have time before I update the others.

If you are planning on maintaining this thread, maybe throw in a "Work in Progress" section for cases like that?

Oh and another vote for having this thread stickied! :)

Nightrace

I have a fondness for Inquistors put up a post in advice and I will offer my opinion.

I do like the guides, it is nice to see a spell or ability described as to why its good or bad.

The cleric guide seems to be grossly out of date.

Here's the relevant link to the new one

Cryptic's Guide to the Inquisitor (work in recess)

Yes i didn't post links for your new guides in case you wanted to do some some updates.

Do you have a problem with me posting direct download links of your files?

I would if i could edit my post any time but iirc i can only edit posts only one hour after posting. But you are right (as soon as i find time) i will make another post that will have all the new material.

Heh... it's rather amusing seeing you link to a guide you are penning right now :D

Maybe just post a new thread once every other month or so with a new updated top post. You could post forwarding links at the tail end of the current thread.

One other thought. Maybe link the guide and if there is an associated discussion thread on the forums link that too. I know Treant's guides and mine all have related forum threads and I think most of the other's do too.

Edit: And a 'last updated' date would be helpful while I'm adding features ;)

The new thread idea seems nice.

You are right, most of the guides are here in the forums.
As far as i know only TarkXT has updated his guide, did anyone else updated his and i missed it?
Do you happen to have a .doc or .pdf copy of your alchemist guide (for offline reading)? I tried copying from the forum you have posted it but those boxes are giving me some hard time.

@TarkXT
Do you have a problem with me merging the files of your new guide into one .pdf file? (again for offline reading)

Shadow Lodge

I don't really have an offline version of mine. I've actually been thinking about doing some big changes to it to seriously simplify it down to a more concise format.

I'll add 'offline mode' to my list of suggested changes :D I'll be updating it for Ultimate Magic soon anyhow.

Not sure about Cryptic's guide.

Any way to contact him, see a couple things (my opinion) that need moved around a little.

Things I don't like...

Why have a spell list when every build option is unable to casts a single 0 level spell.

Seems like this is a bad cut and paste job.

Most builds are badly written, mechanically bad. Doesn't cover one of the 3 top builds.

All in all hard guide to write since it is a hybrid class.

Cryptic's Guide to the Inquisitor (work in recess)

Who is this Cryptic and where can I find him to ask about his guide?

Thank you, and all the guide-authors, for this :)

As I said, it's a work in recess. As far as I understand Cryptic used his Paladin guide as a base, which explains some of the weird things about it. Unfortunately it seems he lost interest in it before it was completed, since nothing has happened in it for a couple of months.

Scarab Sages

First, thanks for the trouble of collecting all these guides in one post, thanks to the original writers for their work on them.

Could you also add links to their original guides? If an author updates their guide, it's up to date faster than your pdfs are - you'd also give them properly credit for their work.

Not really but keep in mind I'm adding to it quite a bit. I still have to finish the spell section for one.

+1 for making this a sticky, and +1 for linking the sources as well. Thanks for the work!

So I am seeing that there really is no Cavalier, Inquisitor, Oracle, or Witch guide.

Just to be clear.

Sovereign Court

A lot of guides can be found conveniently here.

Yes but this page has two problems.

1) It isn't very easy to navigate and has some problems with it's search engine.
2) It doesn't have a download option of the guides.

DOn't get me wrong, this thread is awesome and I have bookmarked it. I just thought I'd add the option.

I wrote this ages ago when the class was in beta and the guide was given only the barest of updates. And indeed the builds got pulled from my paladin list with almost nothing by the way of updates.

I didn't know it got published or that it had been read by anyone.

Are people interested in me finishing it?

What does this mean? Is it about not having a free hand? Is it about focusing on the weapon style and not spells?

You dump Wis and Inquisitors cast with Wis. It's probably just from copying from your Paladin guide.

Just switch CHA with WIS in his guide and i think that you are going to be ok.

Great thread leo1925.
Do you know where I can fine summon monster sheet?
Apparently someone made a sheet with all summon spells with the monster's stats AND a sheet with stats modified by the augmented summoning feat.

I have them, and i do have the summon nature ally sheets (although i don't think that they incorporate the errata).

But i am not sure if i am allowed to upload them.
Anyway i will do it and if the author have a problem with that action of mine they can always tell me to stop.
