Female Kobold

The old dwarf dogcatcher stands before you, his expression grim. In the little miner's town of Dust, he's the closest thing they have to a sheriff. He's known as “Grandpa Erled', a nickname he despises but can do nothing about.
“I'm at my wit's end,” he growls. “The little devils butchered the family, an' we only learned of it yesterday. An' that was by chance. The mailman, he needed somethin' signed. He opened the door an' nearly got his head taken clean off by a spear trap. He heard yappin' from below as he ran.” Grandpa Erled walks behind his desk and sits down in a faded blue armchair. “Kobolds. No doubt about it. An' prob'by makin' a maze of tunnels even as we speak. They're quick critters.”
He opens a drawer and pulls out a bottle of some sort of green liquid. He takes a swig. “You gotta get rid of 'em. Them critters, they've got some sort of smell. My dogs can't stand it. An' if we wait long enough for help from Magnimar to get here, they'll have turned the place into a meat grinder. They're clever, and when it comes to traps an' tunneling, they're the quickest little devils in the world. They prob'by already got somethin' up.”
He takes another, much smaller sip. “I've got the house cleared out. Other than the spear, the kobolds didn't put much up. Which makes me more worried 'bout what you'll find in what used to be the family's cellar.
He stands up, leaning on the desk shakily. “So, will y' take the job?”

You're in the office of the dogcatcher. What you're doing there is up to you. The gist of it is, obviously, that you're being offered a job.

"Well, I don't have much. But kobolds, the little devils aughta have a fair bit. Tell y' what. Pull it off an' y' can keep what's found."

"So... these, Kobolds, they've taken residence bellow your lowly town, and an entrance to their place is through a cellar of a butchered family, and you wish for them dead, right? how much do you whant them to suffer before their last breath?... oh and i expect payment in gems, gold is no use to me" says the flame covered skeleton in an elegant and soothing voice

The dwarf frowns. "Ye', I'm sure y'll find what yer after down there. The devils're miners, after all.

"An' just kill 'em. Foolin' around can't go well wit' Darkland critters."

The dwarf rolls his eyes. "Yeh, as if. Li'l rat critters...stupid, stupid kobolds..." He sits down, taking another gulp of the green beverage.

Knotted takes a step back from the flaming new-comer....

Dark Archive

The Drow tried to shield his eyes against the glare and pulled the brim of his hat down to shadow his eyes even more heavily.

"Well, I reckons we can take care of your problem pardner, though I'd be wanting room and board while I be staying in town if I'm to be doin'this for ya" the Drow drawled.

Female Kobold

Are you making a deliberate effort to conceal your race?
"Fine. Y'can stay in the dead fam'ly's house while y' work."

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"So who owns the house now?"

Assume we are waiting here for all PC's to show up....

Dark Archive

Not while I'm standing next to a fire giant and a skeleton who is on FIRE, just a bit of flavor since as a drow any particularly bright light hurts

looking at the woodling, "Oh, I'm sure we will get along just fine, my name is Raviel Vangua and yours?" says the skeleton with only a small hint of sarcasm and malevolance in his voice as he streaches out a hand towards the woodling for a handshake

"No thanks I do not think it would be useful for either of us..."

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

Forgot to change my damn posting persona

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"My name is Tizzird Ur'doden, mightiest gunslinger to have ever sprung from the foul reaches of the darklands" Tizzird introduces himself before spitting a wad of chewing tobacco onto the ground at his side.

"Oh I see you were being humerus, one day I will catch on to that, I am called knotted-limb Tangled root."

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

"yes, humerous..."

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"Jeez pardner, mind if I call ye Knot, I mean me home town was Snilldanridiri and even that is faster to say then ye name" Tizzird says as Knotted-limb Tangled Root introduces himself.

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"It would be more reasonable to call me knotted rather than not, since not is of course an oft used word....Are you chewing on leaves?"

You feel slow, rhythmic thumping start in the floorboards. It grows in volume and proximity, accompanied by the squeals of the timid along the dusty street. It stops just outside Erled's office, as a bushy red beard and eyes the size of teacup saucers peer through the window. "Um, excuse me. Is this the dogcatcher's office? I saw the posting. The name is Sjurd. I'm a Jotunbrud. I'm available for gainful employment. I... well I can't really fit inside, but please don't take that as a lack of interest. I am definitely, definitely interested." The eyes peer around the room, "Are you blokes looking for work, too?"

Female Kobold

Erled sighs and takes a heavy drink, emptying the bottle. He puts his head in his hands. "Kobolds took o'er tha cellar, they'll fill y'in. Get there, kill kobolds."

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

"yes indeed, my name is Raviel Vangua, it will be a pleasure working with you"

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"Aye Knot, though not anymore since I just done spat my passle o' chew out on ta the floor" Tizzird replies "Ah, sorry 'bout that me dwarven acquaintance"

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"Can you point us in the direction of the home?"

I bet he regrets posting for help to get rid of kobolds!

New sign reads, help get rid of giant, tree, drow, skeleton..

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

You know we'd turn up asking which giant tree and drow skeleton need getting rid of :)

"A cellar? I hope it's a big cellar..."

Female Kobold

The dwarf waves a hand. "Yes, yes, I'll send a man to take you there. Just get out of my sight."
You are led by a sickly-looking dwarf to a fairly nondescript building. Indeed, the only thing interesting about it is the fact that there are two great mastiffs sitting attentively on either side of the open doorway.
The dwarf takes you inside, leading you through a bloody kitchen to a trapdoor. "We've cleared out the house," he mutters. "The cellar is a different matter. Whatever they've made of it, we've left it for you."
He glances towards Sjurd (who is forced to crawl very low even in the large building. If he's not willing to do so, he can lookin through a window). "Kobolds like spacious caverns, like their home. Once you're down there, you shouldn't have much trouble.

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"I shall miss the healing warmth of the sun during this journey."

Grunting slightly and scrunching his eyebrows, Sjurd suddenly collapses in size and shrinks from 20 feet to 10 feet tall. "There we are! Now it won't be so hard to fit through the darn door. I can go back to my regular size once we're in the cavern."

Hefting his mighty flail, Killbastard, over his shoulder, Sjurd walks into the home.

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"Be yah a mighty man who shrinks or a man who grows taller?"

"Erm, the first one? I'm usually taller than this, but I can shrink down for inconvenient squeezes."

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

"Interesting this will require further thought."

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"Ah, under the dirt, the only place I feel at home pardners" Tizzird says as he examines the darkness beyond the trap door letting his darkvision pick out the details.

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

"Well if there is but one exist, and that is here, then those little pests will all be slaughtered... I mean, the Kobold problem will be dealt with"

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"I hear what you be sayin' pardner but them kobolds are wiley little beasties so that ain't gunna be the only exit" Tizzird grimaces.

Sjurd continues to ponderously make his way through the home. "I've never met a drow before. Do all drow females have such small breasts?"

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

Raviel pulls out one of the curtains and wraps it around his hand, giving it a few seconds to catch on fire

"Lets get going then!"

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

"Aye my tall pardner, though I be a male if I was a drow woman I'd be buxom" Tizzird replies in all seriousness.

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

"Comrades there are Kobolds waiting for us to rip them limb from limb, to feast on the still beating hearts of their loved ones before their very eyes before finally putting them out of the misery... I mean, can we get going?"

Tizzird sees that the ladder goes a ways down, perhaps thirty feet. It looks like it leads into a large chamber, but he can't make out much of it from his vantage point.

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

Raviel drops the flaming curtain down the trap door and starts walking down the ladder

Male Drow Noble Gunslinger 3

Tizzird starts climbing down the ladder following the flaming skeleton but doing his best to avoid catching on fire thanks to the embers sparked by the aforementioned skeleton.

The flaming curtain falls, lighting up a bare room. It probably used to be the cellar, but the kobolds have cleared it out completely. As Raviel follows the cloth, he sees that the room isn't quite empty. Between him and the door are three horrific guardians.

These creatures resemble giant-sized moths, with long, beautiful wings covered in rippling patterns resembling skulls. Their heads are rather centipede-like, and long tentacles surround their fanged mouths.

As stated, there are three of these things. They're large sized, and seem about to attack. Roll initiative.
Should I make a map?

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

map may help

initiative 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Raviel will ready an attack on the first moth-thing that gets within striking distance, moving just far away enough from the ladder to allow the others to go down it

Male Oakling Ranger 2 / Rogue 1

Initiative
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Cradles his longbow and gets ready to fire....

"Perhaps we assume these creature work with the kobolds perhaps they have been displaced by the kobolds."

(addresses the creatures)

"We are looking for kobolds you are not kobolds let us pass and find a new home."

The creatures hiss. They don't seem to have understood the oakling.

male human swarm shifter torment, blood, rust, fire skeletal champion lv3 rogue (rake)

"They might find that a bit difficult... then again why do you think they can understand language? there giant months" says Raviel with cold tone to Knotted-limb
