Hi people,
So I've got quite a bit of spare time on my hands at the moment, the jobs easy and they don't mind me mucking about on computers while I work so I thought I'd start up a second game here. Before you apply though I'd suggest having a quick read of my Serpent's Skull IC Thread and OOC Thread since they'll give a good idea whether you like my GMing style or not.

I'd be after four to five players with a spot reserved for Poor Wandering One for now who I believe wanted to play a variant fighter. I'll allow all the classes and races present in the player's guide but don't really want to include anything not in the Paizo published books asides from the Magus. I might negotiate on that but I'd have to love the concept to bits.

Can't think of anything else to put up for now so yeah, give us a concept and we'll talk :)

Dark Archive

Glad I caught this one early.

I'd love to play a lot of things, but I feel this concept is more than enough to me:

- Torthen Azduum, Dwarven Oracle of Stone, curse of Wasting - this is visualized by sections of his actual body looking like it's solid rock. He has decided his curse has grown far too powerful, and seeks to find an end to it - and from there, met the Professor, only to find nothing. After hearing of his death, he travels to Ustalov - and who knows what happens from there?

I can elaborate further if you wish - but other than that, that's my wondrous concept. Hope to get in!

May I ask as to what the character creation rules and guidelines are, i.e. ability points, starting wealth, etc?

No problem, ability points are standard from the corebook for point buy with 20pts to distribute, cash is the average for you class at level one as printed in the core and you have two traits, one from the APG and one from the player's guide.

Knew I'd forgotten something, I'd still prefer people give a pitch for a character first though so that they don't go through the trouble of creating a character if they're not picked for whatever reason.

:)

Liberty's Edge

Count me in. I'll send my character concept in about 6 hours.

Hey it's fugg. I would love to play in this too if you'll have me.

*Raising hand*

Hello. I too am interested in joining.

An idea for a "Summoner/Bard", Madeline Peshtussle calling her self a 'Techno-mage', who is running away from Alkenstar.

Or, there's the tried and true "Suny' the sea elf which I'm running around in a few games atm.

I also have a weird idea for a 'template' type character, but such an experiment may have to await another time. Though I am happy to discuss the details of "Bonny D".

Thoughts? Feedback? Comments?

Much cheers to every one. =)

Currently applying to another carrion crown game but if they don't take me (GM said he'd make a decision sometime today maybe) I'll gladly hop into another one.

Here's app for character I was going to use in that one. Would you allow the heirloom weapon trait from the adventurer's armory? It can be changed but has some root in the concept itself.

Name: Rendel Bladetwist
AL: LG
Class: Inquisitor (and staying that way)
Concept: Troubled youth in search of his father.
Traits: Heirloom Weapon(Bastard Sword), Subject of Study (Undead)

Background

Spoiler:

Rendel Bladetwist had an unconventional childhood. Being the child of a Paladin and an Inquisitor of Iomedae he spent most of his early childhood in dark and dreary places where the light of Iomedae was most needed. His bed time stories were of daring tales of slaying the undead and smiting enemies of the faith while his toys were arms and armor used in the battle against evil. For a time his parents felt that the campaign against darkness should not be halted because of parenthood and they were happy.
It was not until a tragic incident involving the ghost of a brutally murdered child forced a seven year old Rendel into the “care” of the ghost child for a number of days before his mother and father managed to exorcise the ghost and rescue their child that the apparent danger to their child occurred to them. The injuries he received coupled with the increasing danger they found themselves in formed an irreparable schism between their parents. His father, a paladin, wanted to continue the crusade. His mother however believed that it would be better if they retired to a quiet life and raise their child. Each side proved inconsolable and thus they left one another leaving Rendel with his mother who retired to a quiet life of the clergy urging her son to avoid adventuring and live a quiet life of study and prayer. His father continued his crusade and corresponded often with his son often sending back gifts and tales from his adventures to the chagrin of his mother.

It was not long after that he met the Professor; who had heard of his mother and father and was particularly interested in Rendel's experiences with the ghost. They corresponded frequently and Rendel learned much about the world outside of the church of Iomedae from their conversations. It was through the professor’s encouragement and strong desire to adventure like his father that he defied his mother’s wishes to live a normal life and began training to become an inquisitor. He studied hard, particularly in the identification and elimination of the undead. It was on his seventeenth birthday after not hearing a word from his father that he received a final package from the professor. It was his father’s ancestral sword, wrapped in his father’s cloak. In the letter the professor confessed that he had spoken with his father shortly before he disappeared several months ago and he was instructed to send this to Rendel should anything happen to his father. It was not long after that he received notice of the Professor’s passing. Feeling strongly that the two events were connected and frustrated that the professor did not tell him the details of either his father's conversation or disappearance he packed his things and left for Ustalav where he hoped to investigate what happened to his father and take vengeance or at least some form of resolution from what he finds. Defying his mother for only the second time in his life he has done what she has always forbidden, gone adventuring.

Rendel is a powerfully built young man with a strong chin and large hands which are all traces of his father’s astonishing presence and as a result he can be quite intimidating when angered. His green eyes and light skin, however, were inherited from his mother. His hair was once red as indicated by thin strands that stand out amongst the white hair that grows now; a scar he still carries with him from his experiences with the ghost. He might have grown to be quite handsome but again his experiences along with long nights of study have given him a haggard and worn look to his face that gives people the impression that he has seen much of the horrors the world has to offer and in some ways they are right. He is a good man at heart but his silent presence and quiet speech gives the impression of aloofness. He only speaks passionately when it comes to the undead or his parents and would very likely kill a man where he stands should an insult about one or both of his parents is uttered in his presence. His life in the church and knowledge of the dark things that seek human sustenance have imbedded a caution into him that might be mistaken as cowardice or hesitancy by the foolhardy or rash. In truth he is no coward, he simply prefers to go into situations with full awareness of what he’s up against and with the proper tools to face down whatever opposition lies ahead. Despite his extensive knowledge and expertise of tactics against the undead he has no particular hatred for them. Indeed his drive to destroy them is not an act of vengeance for the damage done to him or even of faith. Rather, he considers it an act of mercy. Better then perhaps anyone he experienced the pain that the ghost felt, the loneliness, and its despair. To him the destruction of the undead is an act that can only end that suffering and bring peace to both the living and the dead.

At the time the adventure begins he is wearing barely worn traveling clothes with a well worn black cloak draped over his shoulders typically with the hood worn down to better hear and see what goes on around him. He carries a light crossbow strapped across his back and his father’s old but still particularly sharp sword at his side.

When in battle he always mutters prayers and farewells to the soon to be dead asking his god to forgive them even as he cuts them down.

I'll throw in Darcy for this game as well. Hopefully she'll find one that sticks...:-).

Hey people, just letting you know I'm still here, I'll give the concepts a proper review in a little (just going to update my other PbP which takes a few minutes since its in a combat at the moment). I do like what I've seen so far, just curious, Sunset, when you say a Techno-mage, do you mean those Technic League guys?

*Laughs* No...just something the character might call herself when asked the question,

"So, ma'am, what is it that you do for a living?"

So, first level Summoner. Second level Bard. Third Level Summoner etc.

Thinking of taking "Heirloom weapon" to start with a revolver with four shots in the cylinder. "Rich Parent" for the extra starting money to buy any and all possible 'hi-tech' equipment, such as Gnomeish "Piston Hammers" and the Thunder-stones to power it/them. =)

Edit: Half-Elf for the summoner. Elf for the ocean Elf. :P and, well.......Bonny D is....complicated....>_>

Liberty's Edge

My character background:

for the GM:

"Dragos is the son of the ex-countess of Suquerova, Ileana Moldoban. She was a woman who doesn't cared about getting married because the hell of marriage that his mother has. But, she was having strange dreams with a handsome aristocratic man who seduce her and lay with her in his bed each full moon.
The terrible truth of his dreams emerged when his belly began to grow. Everyone in his lands thought that pregnancy to be a miracle. But the miracle turned a haunt when the baby born. A baby that wasn't totally alive. A baby who was hurt with the bright light. A baby who was waken up in the middle of the night by the scent of the blood.
Everybody noticed the terrible truth. A vampire enchanted the countess each full moon and seduce her, having this son as a result.
His mother raised him the better she could, but she was in an internal fight almost everytime between the mother's love and the hatred of a dishonored aristocratic woman. And as much as Dragos growth, the worst turned the situation, because that son was too similar to his father, that seductive and powerful creature that visited her in her dreams.
Dragos suffered seen the ostracism that the towns people gifted to his mother. He knew it was his fault, and that makes him a taciturn creature. But he was developing a desire to fit in the society, to restore in his mother the pride for his son. And that was the fuel of his efforts to focus his vampiric power at the service of his community and the town nearby. This grant him the tolerance of the towns people (not his love).
In the eagerness of self development, he attended a lot of classes in the University of Lepidstadt, where Professor Lorrimor itself taught some of them. That was the way they meet each other. Lorrimor never sow a dhampire before and focused his attention in Dragos for a couple of months. But, the most interesting fact about Dragos was his determination of fit in the society that always repudiate him. They became friends until the Lorrimor's studies brought him to distant lands once again."

Oh, I guess I should ask for a race/class from people too, I know a few of you have stated what you want to play but a couple I wasn't sure on :)

Thank you Jörmungandr I am looking forward to this.

Now that this is getting off the ground I find about sixty thousand different ideas pounding on my doors of imagination.

Ideas. Jörmungandr and others. May contain info on my PC:

The leaders seem to be:

The aforementioned varient fighter. A wandering mercerary who has tried to be a better person after encountering the Professor. Human

A Warrior of the Holy Light who bit off more than he could chew and had to have his bacon saved by the Prof. Human

A Monk of the Four Winds who the Prof took in as an orphan and brought to the monestary that trained him. Human

A full on Wizard Necromancy specialist or undead bloodline sorcerer. The Proff rescued him from a cabal who saw him as a tool to be used rather than an apprintece to be taught. This should cause some consternation 'mongst the locals/players. I see this person as coming from Cheliax. Human or half elf

And finally an Aquatic Bloodline sorcerer. The idea of playing somone with the Innsmouth look in a horror game appeals to me. I do wonder however if there will be enough water around for this idea to shine. Elf, half-elf, or human

And then there are the strange ideas.

Dhampire wolf shaman 'Hear the sweet music of the children of the night." Another idea likely to lead to misunderstandings. Have to learn to type in a bad hollywood romanian accent.

Dwarf or Human drunken monk, jolly, happy and just a tad cruel. Think Friar Tuck.

Sigh....So many ideas. Any advice? I will get this nailed down in the next couple of hours.
Thanks again for letting me in.

I'm not, sadly, but I've been told to start looking into it, PWO. So, I may just have to now!

These concepts are really good, and some are already more fleshed out - makes me want to really write everything out - and I'm seeing this game will be very, very entertaining.

Also, hi, Sunset. Been a while!

*Waves* to Rizzym Jaderenai (^_^)

Indeed, spoilt for choices and awaiting decisions are we all. =)

*Wonders which of their character concepts, if any, are tempting to the DM...* >_>

Much cheers to every one.

Hi people,
could I possibly grab a full character sheet for Rizzym's Dwarven Oracle, TarkXT's Human Inquisitor, Sunset's Bard/Summoner and Poor Wandering One's Human Fighter. Asides from those four I'd also like to give the nod to Darcy Sparrow as the parties fifth and currently final member.

Sorry to everyone interested who wasn't able to get in, also Diskordant I didn't want to add you to a second game since there seems to be a dearth of new games being started and wanted to spread the GMing around. If for whatever reason though the SeSk game drops I'll give you a preferred spot :)

i'll put in a bid too, info is in profile

not to steal Torthen's thunder but Rock On!

NOTE TO ALL: Given our line up I will be going with a Warrior of Holy Light. This gives us some solid combat muscle and some healing support without stepping on any of the casters toes.

Note to DM At work at the moment. I will heve a full character tonight (+-10hrs) from now. I will get a bare bones, name/stats/traits/feats/major equ up asap. Thanks again for the nod.

Not a problem, I'll be heading to bed in a little while myself so I'll probably get up just a little before you post your character :)

I'll have a full sheet tonight when I get home from work.

Question though. Do you allow subdomains for inquisitors?

Dark Archive

I'll say yes since the impression I got is that its intended that Inquisitors can access them :)

I recommend it highly. I am a fan from way back so if you have questions fire away. I suggest starting with the first season of the rebooted show. It stars Christopher Eccleston in the title role and is a wild ride.

Note the episode that your character reminded me of is from a later season. It is a very good episode but not one I would suggest starting with.

Gotcha, gotcha. I suppose I'm going to be insisted on taking cure spells - though we do have a lot of small healing.

I was thinking of going inflict, and maybe grabbing a weapon to channel it through - but I think me grabbing cure can be better for big emergencies.

EDIT: And I'll make sure to go start that one when I can, PWO - my friend has it all, so I'm sure he'll be more than happy to let me borrow it.

I'll have a small bit. Sadly though Inquisitors are built to put the fear of god in people with a steady glare and a swipe of the blade rather than be a hospitaller.

Now if only I can figure out how to intimidate the dead...

I think we have it covered between us. My lay on hands will help a good deal. We also have 3 players with crue spells on their lists (oracle, inquis, bard<?>)so wands are a VERY good idea. I won't be using them, WOHL's don't get a spell list, sigh, but I'll toss in cash.

Looks like you have plenty of intrest so I'll just bow out and try to get into the next CC game.

I have a question...

Where are/is the actual character generation parameters? How many points to buy stats, etc?

Sorry for not being able to discern their location.

Found it! Knew all that library school would come in handy.
Looks fair. I would of course prefer a 25pt buy but then I am a player and we are greedy by nature.

*Curtsies* Thank you kind..Sir/Madam.

Edit: Just a question DM Jörmungandr,

Would/will you allow,

heirloom-weapon

And

rich-parents

Definitely interested in this, I've got a Warrior Of The Holy Light built up at the moment, but willing to play anything the group may need (especially since it seems you have one already =) ).

It'll be my first PbP, definitely interested in seeing how this works out!

Hello Poor Wandering One posting to get a feel for the character.
Rough stats and things under name. Feedback welcome and requested. I am not that good at making effective pathfinder characters.

Question for DM Jörmungandr
how do you fee about Harrowed?

Madeline Peshtussle wrote:

I believe he's allowing it for me so that at least might be a yes.

Hey guys,
I'm fine with Harrowed as a feat, I don't mind heirloom weapon but I would like one of your traits to come from the Carrion Crown Player's Guide, also, sad to say, but I'm not the biggest fan of fan created material :P

Should be done now. Sheet is under the name.

Unfortunately my work schedule has hanged with very short notice. My next amount of free time will not be for three or so days.

Thank you for the heirloom weapon.

A link to the Carrion crown traits would be nice. I feel saddened (slightly) with not being able to take 'Rich Parent'. (I thought that one was a main stream trait? Go figure)

The avatar has been chosen, I shall work on the 'nuts and bolts' in spare moments at work. Hopefully some time in the middle of next week she shall be ready.

Sorry to slow every thing down. *Bows*

A link to the Carrion Crown Player's Guide

The player's traits are on the last couple of pages in the guide, I'd recommend giving it a perusal before we begin play.

Rich parent is in the apg. However if you're required to get a carrion crown trait you could just get on the payroll.

My sheet might change slightly before the game. People keep implying I can take powerattack at level 1 despite not having +1 bab.

Having down loaded and perused the Players Guide to the adventure path, I believe "On the pay roll" would be a suitable back ground trait. Allowing the character to have journeyed to Ustalav from their troubles in the Alkenstar territories.

So, Heirloom Weapon, On the Pay Roll as the starting traits and "Gunsmith" as first level feat from the latest 'Gunslinger' down load of that character.

As I mentioned previously, work has changed its schedule taking away my planned free time for creating the character. I shall give it my best at getting something up soon.

Are you, as DM, still happy with a foreign Half-Elf Summoner who is effectively passing themselves off as a 'technologist'?

This is a nice illustration of the character and her Summoned Eidolon.

Link

As you can see, I am going with a humanoid looking Eidolon, so buying it(Him) an armoured Coat and Tri-corn hat, starting the Eidolon with Exotic Weapon Proficiency 'Gnome Piston Hammer' should go a large way to alleviating any fears superstitious locals might have about 'demon'/'devils' or other nefarious activities.

I believe the catch phrase of the character will be

"It's SCIENCE!" =)

Link: =)

Sorry about "Rich Parents" I just followed the link provided and didn't check the APG since the link decried it a fan created trait :P

Personally I always though "For Science!" was the better battle cry :)

Made a slight change. Realized sooner or later I'm going to want weapon focus/dazzlingdisplay and I want to be doing that flashing my fathers sword around. So we're gonna say my father was not the type of paladin to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Bastard Sword).

Soooo...does that mean "Rich Parents" is back with a look in? =)

XD

Still, "On the Pay Roll" fits your criteria better. Though starting with more Gp is always niice...;)

Oh yes! When it come to those sort of moments in game "For SCIENCE!" Will definitely be a cry which may be heard. =)

I need to run out the door, but his basic sheet is up - expect it to be less cluttered when I get home!

Torthen is a master of rockthrowing for now - so I'll, uh, be adding some bowling balls to his inventory...

Applying with this Changeling Ninja in both the games currently taking applications. I can switch out to either Human or Rogue is you prefer, although I like the Ninja for this character as a "Rogue with slightly more mystical bent to their abilities."

Background cut for space:
One more waif on the streets of Caliphas, Dariyia was exactly the sort one would expect to number among the city's frequent disappearances.

As a young child she had an unearthly air about her. Her features seemed unusually pale, with hair that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. But she started to wear her bangs over her eyes to conceal her most striking feature - while her right eye was merely an unusually piercing green, her left glittered like a blood-red ruby.

Even more shocking were the things she could do at a young age. She seemed to appear and disappear much like a ghost. She sometimes seemed to understand what people were saying, even if they spoke in languages she had never heard before. And when she talked to people, it was almost as if her words wove a spell over them that they didn't notice until later.

In a country like Ustalav, the strange and different usually has a low tolerance. Dariyia's family probably showed a bit more tolerance than most, but one day, the inevitable came. She was informed that she was a foundling, taken in and brought to the city as a baby and then raised as one of theirs.

That night she was told to pack up and get out of the house.

The streets of Caliphas are not safe at night, and for a young girl it seemed they would be a death sentence. But Dariyia was a reasonably smart girl, and she took to life on the streets with her unusual talents the way many might take to a trade. Even better, her ability to manipulate seemed to lie only within her, leaving her targets unable to detect the deception with magic later.

The life of a common grifter and cutpurse was interrupted only by a recent event. As Professor Lorrimor made his last journey through the capital, Dariyia finally made what should have been a career-ending mistake by targeting him. Instead, in the night the hungry spawn of a vampire came upon the both of them as she was in the middle of her scam. Only a timely warning from Dariyia, who spotted it first, saved the both of them from its' claws.

It seemed thanks enough at the time that he didn't report her to the authorities, but some months later a courier found her with an unusual summons. With dreams of wealth and luxury in her heart, Dariyia abandoned life in Caliphas to answer the summons.

She could always go back if it turned out the professor had the last laugh.

EDIT: Also, regarding the Rich Parents thing: You have to pay close attention to the pages marked with the fan-created content logo. Rich Parents is roundly disliked by a certain portion of the GMs out there. Rich Parents, like a lot of traits now in the APG and Traits supplement, first appeared in the 3.5 Second Darkness PG.

So it's not against the rules of the PFSRD wiki to slap a "fan-created conversion" on it even though the text is identical between editions. And "conversion" and "new content" have the same logo over there.

I believe the applications have been closed. As a DM I don't have a problem with a one off 900 gold add. You can't buy any significant magic items with it. Id' be more concerned if a wizard took it simply because of the nature of wizard spellcasting.

So we have:

A paladin focused on melee/healing/buffing.
An Inquisitor focused on melee/fear and undead slaying.
A dwarf focused on being stony.
A rogue focused on being a rogue among three stolid religious lawful men with no sense of humor.
A summoner/bard focused on "I'm totally not a demon summoner mr. inquisitor stop staring at me! I'm not mad! I swear! *maniacal laughter* Stare at me will you! I'll show you! I'll show you all!"

Sounds entertaining.

I believe you are correct Mr. Mandible

We are a merry band.
A paladin who glows.
An inquisitor who broods.
A dwarf who's taciturn.
A Bard/Summoner who is in an obsessive relationship with her mechanical man.
And a rogue looking for the next plane out.

Hmmm if it were not for that whole immunity to fear thing Creel might be a tad nervous at this point.

Creel is finished on paper. Just need to get him typed in.
Ye gods I had forgotten how long it took to stat a pathfinder character.

But it's worth it.

~PWO aka Creel

Party dynamics are fun aren't they :)

Hey Jormungandr...Thanks for the acceptance, but I had another game I had applied to first accept Darcy today also. I think the party makeup for that game probably fits Darcy better anyway. Again thanks for the opportunity, but I'll open the spot, and give someone else a try. Good gaming, and I'll keep track...
