actually it does get the bonus, now that i've actually read the feat it states you do apply the 3/-1 to natural attacks that apply 1.5x str.
Power Attack (Combat)
You can make exceptionally deadly melee attacks by sacrificing accuracy for strength.
Prerequisites: Str 13, base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. This bonus to damage is increased by half (+50%) if you are making an attack with a two-handed weapon, a one handed weapon using two hands, or a primary natural weapon that adds 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier on damage rolls. This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2. You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.

I am an Australian so that would most likely be the reason for it :)
Don't worry too much yet, we'll find our pacing over the next few days and I won't be offended if a player or two want to drop from the game because it conflicts with their time too much.
I'll wait an hour or two to see if Garrick will be able to post and then I'll presume he gets to his feet and heads for the pile of gear. Then I'll do the round cap post and upload a new map :)

So guys, that's what I'd probably like to do for the majority of combats during the game. Sorry about puppeting Lydran and Gerrick, I won't normally do that but I wanted to get a round done to show people what I meant. I'd like to try and get a single round like that done once per day so people have a full twenty hours to make a post before I'll finish off the next round :)
If you really hate it let me know and I'll see if we can come up we a good compromise. Remember, like most GMs I'm fairly mad with power and crazy with hubris but I'm more then willing to listen to player input :)
Jörmungandr |
Just posted this for a different game and I thought I'd add it here even though a bit of it repeats, its basically just me trying to come up with some better explanation for how I'm running my games :)
Oh, perhaps we should establish a few things like that :)
Okay, here goes, remember these aren't set in stone, they're more guidelines and I'm willing to bend or change these if you guys really hate something in it.
1 - Rather then initiative I'll presume that the actions in a turn occur in a first in, first served kind of way, basically a small bonus for being johnny on the spot with your posting.
2 - A post in a combat round should basically consist of flavor first, try not to describe the actual effects of the strike/ blow though so that there is wriggle room when a react occurs. Something like...
"Derrick then ran across the field and attempted to lop the interlopers head clean off his shoulders."
Instead of...
"Derrick runs forward and cuts the interlopers head clean off of his shoulders."
3 - At the bottom of the flavor text write clearly what you want your character to do and then roll for it using dice roller...
eg. ooc action - Okay, Derric moves from A10 to A16 with a charge and attacks the goblin king 1d20+5=20 boom a hit, now I roll for damage 2d6=8, boom I stab that goblin king in the face. David Bowie is my biatch
4. Once everyone has posted or twenty four hours have passed since I posted the position map I'll then bring the round to a close. If people haven't been able to post and haven't contacted me I'll give them a quick puppet though I'll do my best to make sure I'm not making their character crap. This is mainly to keep the game going at a good clip so that during combat we get roughly one turn done a day. If you're going to be away on weekends but still want to have direct input on what your character is going to do feel free to drop a message in here and plan out a couple of moves rather then one :)
I think that's everything for now :)

Hey people,
this is a fairly cool app a friend made for us to use in our DND 4E game and I though it was so coll that after I grabbed his permission I thought I'd put it up here.
Basically it makes the map interactive, It allows the players to move their tones and when they do damage/cast effects etc. It allows them to change the damage in its notes :)
Its a very awesome tool and a little experimenting will hopefully show you what I mean.

So if we are going to split up, I think the most reasonable split would be Hern, Lydron and one of the rangers heading to the boat; fugg and the other ranger scouting about. I think that Lydron and I could use some backup with someone who can deal with combat.
If Fugg stays behind, the rhino will be an additional fighter if they run into a problem. I assume the rhino can't make it back to the ship.
My vote is to avoid splitting if at all possible. I've been pushing to go to the ship because I assume that will do the most to advance the plot.
Jörmungandr |
Hey guys, for the sake of expediency I'll probably move the story to the listing ship when I get up in ten or twelve hours just as a heads up, I won't be puppeting anyone just shifting the scene unless something major RP wise starts going down :)
If you do want to stay in the camp scene just give me a heads up here.

Hey guys, on further reflection I have decided to begin rolling initiative for battle again. What I'm hoping to do is during the first round people roll their own initiative and once everyone has managed to make a post I'll roll the enemies initiative and then do my recap equivalent so that you guys don't simply stab face the enemy each turn
:)
Fugg the Wild |
Should have read this first. I went from a 20 to hit to a natural 1. because when I added the initiative roll in the boards took it from my to hit roll and rolled new for to hit. It would be much less disappointing to just miss, then to hit and then have it taken away from you.
Hern Davisham |
I think that's what happened to my acrobatics check. I made a 23. Then realized I should roll initiative first, the 13 went to my initiative. My new acrobatics roll: a 3. Nice. I made a halfling rogue, can't I please flip around the battlefield with no problem? Okay . . . I'll stop whining. Maybe.
Jörmungandr |
Hey guys, because its easier to talk over character information, stuff and because I like getting to know my players I've created a generic MSN address if you guys want to get in contact.
Note the lack of accented letter "o" in the email address. If you're worried about privacy its easy enough to make a new hotmail account and then use that to chat with myself.
Hern Davisham |
Rolling mad crits against the big lizard in our backyard and waiting to hear from the GM. While I'm here, I think I'm going to get a little metagamey. Ignore it if that bothers you all.
So . . . we're trapped on the island with a bunch of npcs. I assume we are supposed to make nice with them so that they can give us valuable information about our situation. Why else would they be there? We should try that. Alas, looking at the party, we are not particularly good at making nice with people . . . I guess Lydran has some ranks in diplomacy, does anyone else? Or at least a higher charisma?
Jörmungandr |
Hey Martinaj and Lovelydwarf, I'm wondering if you like to join me in an invitational Legacy of Fire campaign, I've already got two players and both of you seem to line your waking hours up with mine fairly well which would be a major advantage for the game.
If your interested we have Zalika Banoub, a Garundi Inquisitor of Sarenrae and Iuni Al'Badin, a Keleshite sorceress at this time :)
If you're interested please join me at Discussion Thread

Hey guys, now that it seems Gerrick has dropped I want to ask you guys what you want to do, should I open the game up to an additional prospective player or do you guys want to tweak a character or something, lacking a meat shield generally hurts and honestly a melee ranger isn't much of a meat shield to begin with :P
Other option is I make a fighter and have him tag along as a sailor you guys find on the beach, a survivor of the Jenivere, has the advantage of letting me RP some more (as in talky RP) but I understand if you guys are leery of anything resembling a GMNPC.
Fugg the Wild |
I'm okay with either option. I personally don't have a problem with a GMPC and I usually use one whenever I run(assuming a smaller party and the PCs are okay with it, i just make sure he doesn't do anything anyone else does, or that if he does he doesn't do it as well as they do.)
Hern Davisham |
I'm also okay with either option. Opening it up to a new player let's someone else play, and it seems that folks are always hungry for opportunities to play. But if you, Jormungandr, would have more fun with another character to RP, do that. I think it is most important that the GM is having fun.
