The large boar goes crashing off into the woods, letting out a squeeling noise as it does. A few yards behind it, another boar bounds out onto the path, steam rising from its sloped flank. If the first boar was big, then this creature in front of you now is simply huge, almost as large as the horses you rode here. Its back rises in a steep slope and its tiny red eyes are crusted with filth whilst its bristly flank crawls with flies.
It skids to a halt and slowly turns its horribly tusked head to glare in your general direction.

There are several small boulders lining the side of the trail, approximately 2-3 feet in height

The Dire Boar goes on initiative 20 (16+4=20)

The gods of the dice truly do work in mysterious ways!!

Aldern goes on initiative of 22(18+4=22)

So initiative order so far is :
Aldern
Dire Boar
Kendrick
Ensu
Galstok
Gallus
Ezren

Just need Mattie's result now.

init 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8[/dice]

So initiative order is :
Aldern
Dire Boar
Kendrick
Ensu
Mattie
Galstok
Gallus
Ezren

Still presuming that Harsk isnt with us

At the sight of the monstrous boar, "I don't think I'm going to try wrestling that one."

We were all too busy watching for the first boar, I guess. Well atleast Aldern. Now that seems odd.
I know Prodigal had some RL stuff going on. He was going to be running a game instead of playing in one. Maybe it has come up again.

With a thunderous bellow, the huge boar lowers its head and, pawing the dirt of the trail, starts to charge down the path toward you. A it does Aldern bravely raises his spear, trying to set it to accept the boars charge. The young noble thrusts forward and manages to score a glancing blow. Such is the force of the boars run, that the spear head snaps and breaks away from the shaft. But the blow is telling and causes the boar to vear slightly away from Aldern, although he is still caught a glancing blow andtossed to one side. Aldern falls heavily into a bush, letting out a anguished groan as he falls.

Aldern rolls a 15+3 = 18, doing 9 damage (2d6)

The boar crashes onward toward you, blood streaming from its wound.

With a slightly unhinged laugh, and a whoop of "suet!" Kendrick moves behind the nearest boulder, and then begins to chant,
"This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went...
"Wee wee wee" all the way home..."

Hey guys, I just wanted to remind you all that everyone after me gets a +1 to attack and damage

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

How wide is the trail here approximately?

Galstok moves to the other side of the trail from Gallus attempting to force the beast to split its attention. Once there he braces the boar spear readying for the creatures charge and yells out, "Come and get it, ya big brute!"

Attack(Power Attack): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
I had boar spear down as d8 for medium is it supposed to be d6 then? either way.
Damage: 2d6 + 12 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 12 + 6 + 2 = 28
or
Damage: 2d8 + 12 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8, 4) + 12 + 6 + 2 = 32

All that damage and a miss.

The trail is approx 20' wide here. OOPs. you are correct. it should be d8 for the boar spear! Sorry.

The boar carreens down the trail shrugging off all attacks which either sail wide or glance harmlessly off its tough hide. Little Mattie, Perched on a high rock manages to land an arrow in its flank as it bounds past (dealing 6 damage although if the creature notices it seems to show no awareness of the wound. It skids to a halt and scramble furiously around again , making ready to charge back down the trail at you.
You see Aldern is pulling himself up against a tree, but is now weaponless. The boar sees this and paws the ground, lowering its tusked snout. It lets out a bellow and starts toward the young weaponless noble.

As Aldern is at the far end of the trail, the dire boar will have to pass you all to get at him, so it will hold its attack until it reaches him, allowing everyone to attack first.

Male Human Bard 1

As a move action Kendrick will move to where he is inbetween Aldern and the boar.
As a standard action Kendrick will ready an action to brace his spear for the boars charge.
As a free action Kendrick will continue to inspire courage, "Fear not my lord, we got this", he says to Aldern.
To everyone else, "We are going to eat well tonight my friends."

Ensu will move back to Aldern and cast sanctuary (DC 13) on the noble.

Galstok will move to Kendrick's side to form a wall of spears across the path, and set his spear for the charge.

"We will dine together tonight or with our fore fathers."

Apparently I am not supposed to hit this boar.

"Hey Mister! Spear!" yells Mattie....and she aims her shortspear at the ground right before Foxglove's feet.

Not sure if I need to roll for this. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23. Can she get a spear to him in time for him to meet the charge?

Yes you can. Aldern manages to grab the spear and stagger forwards and, holding his side, he plants the spear into the ground next to the others.

The dire boar thunders back up the trail towards you. Ignoring the fact that bristling pointed death awaits it, the creature charges on. Some of the spears are brushed aside but at least two impale the beast as it drives the shafts deeper into its body. It lets out an anguished squeel and crashes to the floor as its legs collapse under it. It slides to a stop a yard from where you are grouped, it's side heaving for breath, before it shudders once and is still.

Aldern lets out a breath. "I thought I was dead for sure." He turns and looks at you all. "Thankyou. I wont forget this..."

After confirming that the boar is truly dead, Ensu will let off a burst of positive energy, healing Aldern for 1d6 ⇒ 3 hit points.

Male Human Bard 1

Kendrick extends his hand to all his companions and thanks them in turn before saying, "You are welcome m'lord, but I for one feel honored to have been able to stand shoulder to shoulder with such fine warriors and face down such a beast. The tales we shall tell tonight! I do have to say however, that I'm not going to be of much use in the next part of todays adventure, as I'm afraid I have no knowledge of how to dress such a creature. I do however hold great faith in that Gallus and Galstok will have this creature ready for transport in no time. But if you'll excuse me for a moment, there was something I wanted to investigate."
Kendrick then walks over towards both Ensu and Ezren and says,"Gents, I cannot be sure, but I do believe I saw a ruin yonder," and points to where he thinks he saw the ruin. "Shall we investigate?"

Male Human (Taldan) Wizard 1

Ezren relinquishes his concentration and there is a crackling around him as his magical protection gives way. He dusts himself off and nods, "Well done." He turns to Kendrick, "Ruins you say? Let us have a look while the others dress the beast."

If the ruins are close I go ahead and enact a Mage Armor spell just in case.

male gnome cloistered cleric 3 [ HP: 19/23 | AC: 14 T: 11 FF: 14 | F: +5 R: +1 W: +6 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | Effects: ]

Ensu checks to see if Aldern needs any further healing before agreeing that the exploring the ruins sounds like a wonderful idea.

"I'm for explorin as much as y'all are. But that there's one friggin huge pig. We cain't just leave it here fer the vultures. Those rooins ain't goin' nowheres. Cain't we jis come back in the morn's early light?"

From her perch on the rock Mattie looks to the ruins.

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

Curious as to whose spears killed it.
"It will take some time, he is probably the only hunter in the area if your going to go look at that building. But first of all." With that he kneels besides the boars head and talks softly towards the creature.

In Shoanti:
Thank you, for what you have given us. May your courage and strength carry on is those of us you have honored.

With that he will draw his blade and starting with the removal of the heart and liver he will begin the process of dressing and readying the creature for travel. After removing the two organs, he will approach Aldern and Insert who actually killed it here. and offer up the organs to them. "Honor of the kill is yours."

You assume Aldern and Gallus, although Galstoks also played a part as did Mattie.

Everyone receives 200 XP for the boar kill.

From where you are, you can clearly see what appears to be some sort of ruined structure, about 200 yards away through the trees, atop of a small incline that leads up toward the side of a well hidden hill shrouded by dense foliage. From this distance, the stone structure appears to be of a white colour and the remains of stone steps seem to lead up to it, further away from your location on the trail.

Then as an addendum to previous post.

Seeing what Galstok takes as confusion on their faces, "So his strength and courage lives on in those who killed him." he demonstrates taking a bit out of each and then offers to them again.

Male Human Bard 1

As Kendrick approaches it he'll see if he recognizes the architecture.

Miss Mattie is dying to see the ruins.
But the sight of Galstock ritually butchering the animal fascinates her more. She stands by and watches intently....offering to help and making an effort to learn the skill.

She takes the morsel which he has selected for her.... which piece is that Galstock? .

She eats....and she feels something she has never felt before...a powerful sense of place - of purpose - of connectedness with her own body and the forest around her. Amazing!

She touches the head of the animal....looks in the lifeless eyes. A beautiful beast. Without realizing it she is crying...overcome with powerful emotions, which she is at a loss for words to describe.

Male Human Bard 1

As Kendrick walks away he turns back briefly at the sound of miss Mattie crying. He thinks about it for a moment, and then says, "don't worry little lady, I'm sure it'll taste better once it's cooked." He then turns and continues towards the ruin.

Gallus nods to Galstok as he takes the offered organ Please let it be the heart I hate liver;). He looks at the raw meat skeptically for a moment then not wanting to disrespect Glastok he proceeds to take a generous bite of the still warm organ and chew it thoroughly before swallowing.

In Shoanti:

I am honored by the sacrifice this animal has made today.

Gallus then proceeds to help Galstok dress the animal and prepare it for travel. Seeing the others wandering towards the ruins he calls out to them "Be careful you never know there could be more then one of these out there as boars do travel in packs!"

Male Human (Taldan) Wizard 1

"Ah, the ritualistic eating of raw organs." Ezren pushes a branch aside to get a better look at the structure ahead. "Rather glad I had nothing to do with felling that beast." He peers out toward the white structure, "Come, let us get a closer look."

Ensu follows Kendrick towards the ruin, hoping that it isn't just a old farmstead or something similar.

As you approach, you can see that there are symbols of unknown origin encrusting the exterior of the small hill, although most are eroded by time’s careless caress. Ascending the mound are a series of broken grey stone stairs framed by two giant menhirs of white marble. At the base of these stairs sit two enormous stone disks, each the size of a giant’s wagon wheel. They rest one atop the other, their edges overlapping slightly. The disks are carved with thousands of runes in wild patterns that seem to defy reason.

Kendrick

Spoiler:
Amazingly, you believe this could be an ancient site of Azlanti origin.

Male Human Bard 1

Reaching into his bag and removing charcoal and paper, Kendrick states, "Gentlemen, I believe we may have quite a find here. This doesn't look like any Thassilonian ruin or marking that I've seen or heard of. The runes however bear a striking resemblance to some Azlanti writings I once saw reproduced in a Pathfinder Chronicle.
"Master Ezren, would you be so kind as to see if there are any magical auras about?"

Spoiler:
Unfortunately, the writing seems to be illegible to you

The disks bear several shallow depressions where small objects appear to have once rested, but these all seem to be long gone now.

Beyond the discs tou can see another pair of menhirs framing the entryway into what is surely a barrow mound.

Male Human Bard 1

What time of the day is it?

Male Human (Taldan) Wizard 1

Ezren marvels at the ruin and the possibilities, "Indeed Kendrick," He pauses a moment, "deprendo magicus". His spell complete Ezren allows his gaze to track the ruin...

That accomplished he moves up closer to Ensu to take a look at the writings...

Spoiler:
These ancient disks seem to once have been a great calendar marking the ages for the Azlanti seers and sages of old. Any magical aura is stilled now, and it no longer marks the passage of the eons. Studying the disks carefully and the markings on them, you discern that the calendar ceased to function around the time of the date that marks the death of the god Aroden and the beginning of the Age of Lost Omens.

You do locate a small source of magical aura which seems to originate from a small saphire gemstone that is located in a crack between the two stone discs.

Male Human Bard 1

Kendrick stops from the rubbing he is making for a moment and glances at the sky before going back to work. "Seems like we still have plenty of daylight left" he says. "What do you fellas think, should we call up the others and explore yonder barrow, or should we come back in the mornin?"
Putting away the rubbings, he pulls out his journal and starts making notes in it; time, date, location, a description of the site, etc.

Male Human (Taldan) Wizard 1

Ezren's hand goes to his beard, stroking it as he contemplates the odd disks. "Well Kendrick, you mentioned Azlanti and I would say you are correct. It is my belief that these ancient disks would have once been a calendar marking the ages for the Azlanti sages of old. Though any magic it may have once held has long faded I'm afraid." He pauses a moment and mutters under his breath as he calculates the last reading of the disks, "Yes... interesting. Look here," he says pointing to a series of symbols. "Do you recognize this date? 4606, the first year of the Age of Lost Omens... the year the God of Humanity, Aroden, ceased to be."

Ezren stands in awe of what he is seeing. His eyes move about the structure taking in every detail. Etching the site into his memory. Then he pauses, "Hmm, what is this?" He move over to a crack between the two stone disks and retrieves (or attempts to) a small saphire gemstone. "Interesting..."

Loving these dice rolls! In the other game I play on here I can't seem to roll above a 5! lol

Male Human Bard 1

Kendrick closes his journal and puts it away along with his pen and ink. Scratching the back of his head he turns and says to Ensu and Ezren, "you know, I was thinking about that date and what it means not so long ago. Everyone assumes Aroden "died" if it's even possible for such a thing to happen. But do we know that for sure? I mean yes, he didn't appear on the date that was calculated, although that could be an error in the calculation. And indeed, his clerics lost contact with him, but does that mean that he is truly dead? Is it not possible for even a god to be out of reach?"

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

He offered both actually. :) And if anyone is offended by actions I had him take here recently. I sincerely apologize and I will refrain from such things in the future. Please just let me know.

While the others go to check out the ruins, Galstok will turn to take care of readying the beast. Taking his time in the process to make sure everything that can be will be used.

During his work he will keep both hammer and spear close by to grab quickly if needed and keeping an eye on his surroundings in case something comes up.
