Need help with an idea...

I am still running the Flood festival, and we have been having a blast. I do not remember who came up with the idea behind Crater ball, but we have totally expanded it into a major game, taking the basic rules he presented (many thanks) and expanded on them.

But, my question and where I am stumped is, amid my duel, archer tournaments, wrestling tourneys, races, obstacle courses etc...I find my wizards and clerics getting bored.

I was trying to come up with some contests for them I thought a counterspelling contest, maybe a name that God or demon Lord...anyone have any cool ideas?

I had similar issues when I was running the festival over the last month. I approached my wizard about it, and he said he was happy just to enjoy watching everyone else and participate in the roleplaying opportunities, so that problem took care of itself. The party cleric and druid both were happy taking part in athletic competitions, even when they didn't have the best chances on paper. (The cleric lost the long distance foot race around Cauldron to a sergeant of the Town Guard only in the very last of 20 rolls, and even then lost only by a point.) I also set up a Wisdom-based "Name the Meat" contest at a local food stand (Barg's Meat on a Stick) that the druid was co-winner of (with Artus Shemwick). I did a write-up of that one in a post on this board a little while back on Flood Festival events.

Oh, and one other quick idea: what if you did a sort of undead-destroying contest, and let spellcasters enter? Clerics could turn them or cast spells, and wizards could hit them with their spells too. Or you could have a wizard creating the undead and a cleric whacking them. Or something else along those lines. But handled well, maybe there's a way there to kill 2 PCs with one stone? Just brainstorming.

I actually used 2 of your ideas..The "name that meat" and the obstacle course. The Wizard is taking much pride in wearing Barg's sash. He won because I let him use several knowledge skills to modify his rolls. Our Rogue completely blew the competition away in the obsacle course, thatnks to ring of swimming and boots of striding and springing..it wasn't even close.
