As a conventioneer of many years experience, my best tip for any successful con: iron rations.
Specifically, hit Trader Joes and/or Costco before the con and get a bag of unsalted nuts and another of dried fruit. Macadamia are the richest, but melt (yes, really) so I'd recommend almonds or hazelnuts, and something like dried apricots or cranberries. Avoid chocolate, as it melts and gets messy, and likewise anything candied or sweetened. Just straight nuts and fruit, with maybe some beef jerky if you really need protein. A small amount of such trail mix can be kept in a satchel or pocket and munched for extra energy when an actual meal is inconvenient. Hotel gift shops are hideously overpriced for snacks, convention center food courts likewise (and quality is often suspect), and you'll want to save your money for the dealers room and real meals at restaurants.
Beyond that, enjoy yourself. There's always new stuff to discover at every convention.

Thanks much! That is really awesome advice. I have a friend living out there who is really close to a trader joes.

My favorite thing to point new con-goers to is Sean's GenCon Tips.
Now, PaizoCon is not GenCon, so there's quite a few items in there that are not applicable. BUT, there's a lot of useful advice for attending conventions in general.
Give it a look-see. ;-)

Also I would recommend alcohol, because they will let you drink your own in the hotel if you are staying there I believe...saved me some cash...but only if you are of age and of course you like drinking.
If you are picking up bottled beer, make sure you have an opener. The rooms do have one attached to the counter, but if you are roaming or socializing in the lobby, you will need a portable one.
If you are roaming make sure you clean up your own messes and throw away your trash. The hotel staff are cool, but it isn't a situation that should be taken advantage of.

I am staying with a friend in Bellevue but I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the tips!
