The Paizo staff is doing fine as far as I can tell. Is there errors in the books? Sure there is. As a PFS GM, a GM who run many of adventure paths, run ad-hoc games.

I just don't find myself to worried about a FAQ. If a discussion of a rule comes up and people think it means different things we just discuss it after the game, come up with something and move on. If it is a PFS game then I usually check the forums and if that is a bust I make the call and move on.

The game isn't perfect but it is a game that is purposely abstract and all things are guidelines and not die hard never bending rules.

Even in PFS you can have many GM's run the same module and weird unexpected things will happen that a GM will likely have to adjust too.

I guess it all boils down too don't sweat the small things and GM on.

Here is a few quotes from Gary Gygax that always comes to mind as I GM. Who is still the best DM I have ever had the chance to play with.

1. The essence of a role-playing game is that it is a group, cooperative experience

2. The secret we should never let the game masters know is that they don't need any rules.

You must not have noticed the amount of errors and possible double readings in the book. Many of them have not come up in my game, but waiting until you run out of gas to fill the car up is not a good idea.
What is small vs what is not small varies from table to table.
1.What does that have to do with rules not being clear?
2.There are not a lot of people that agree with that. Consistence is important.

In short your philosophy is ok for a rules lite group, but not everyone plays like that.

We are not asking for perfection or for every question to be answered, at least I am not, but there are quiet a few things that should be answered.

The other issue is that for every book that comes out there will be more questions, and Paizo will fall farther behind. I don't want to be using Ultimate Combat 3, as an example, and trying to figure out a feat based on an ability from Ultimate Combat 1 only to find that the rule I need to reference was never clarified.

There have been some good blog entries tied to FAQ type issues lately, personally I like the in-depth blog approach to one/ two line blurbs on subjects you get in the FAQ.

Hopefully we'll see some more of those mixed in with the new material articles.

I do not use the FAQ's often in books. Also if an FAQ answer is still vauge then it did not solve anything. Get the ruels so it is fun for everyone.

Also who always has time during play to either remember all the FAQ's which is hard and the GM might just look in the book to see how it works. Having to find the FAQ's will slow the game down too much.

As a GM, I don't rely on it during play, but if a question crops up in a session, I'll consult the faq in my down time before next week's session and let the players know how we'll be handling it in the future. Also when I know the players are going to encounter something, I'll familiarize myself with rules that are likely to crop up, while I'm preparing for the session in my downtime, and if something needs clarification I check the FAQ.

Additionally, as several of us have metioned, even if you don't benefit directly as a GM, having a good FAQ helps third party publishers and people who post user-generated content, which in turn can help you as a GM if you use their content.

Many of us know most of the rules by heart(90+% anyway), and if I take the trouble to look something up it is probably because it has been annoying me. I have never had trouble remembering annoying things.
