Background Music

Council of Thieves

Lantern Lodge

So I am running CoT and have been trying to make the game really involved. I am using the Plot Twist cards to give the players some control on fate, Item cards to use as props for loot and other things, Face cards to represent the NPCs, Condition cards and the Critical Hit/Fumble decks to just help with the more mechanical side of things. I have been pre-preparing the maps using gaming paper, sharpies, and minis. I have been using a lot of on the spot ad hoc rulings to help with the role playing aspect.

But in the end what I am missing is some background sounds. So to my question. What would those here on the forums recommend for background music for this AP?

Silver Crusade

I've yet to play it, but after listening to a little of it on iTunes I really recommend pulling from the Assassin's Creed 2 soundtrack. Especially considering the similarities between that game's setting(Venice) and Westcrown.

They'll be harder to track down, but the Thief game soundtracks are probably worth a look as well.

Silver Crusade

Also, certain songs from the Silent Hill soundtracks could fit in pretty well with the darker and creepier parts of Westcrown.

What sort of feel are you shooting for, and how much anachronism do you mind in the music?

Lantern Lodge

Well I am looking for something that won't distract the players from the game but still gives the feel like they are in the setting. As for anachronism, I don't really mind either way.

I didn't even think of the Assassins Creed 2 soundtrack, and the similarities of Westcrown and Italy, mainly Venice, have been noted both by myself and my players quite a few times. I have listened to the sample of the soundtrack and think that it is a perfect fit for what I want.

I can't seem to find any of the Thief games soundtracks on Amazon (where I do most of my online shopping) and am figuring if I can't find it then I don't really need it.

I really like the Silent Hill soundtracks personally but I don't know if they are what I am looking for. They seem like something I would use for a survival horror game, LOL.

Since the place resembles a dilapidated fantasy Europe, I grabbed some old European music. It says that they love their theatre in the Player's Guide, so theatre music it is.

Here's our theme song. Anything from Verdi, Rossini, etc.

Who is Rossini?

Thank you, I really think that the Rossini stuff will fit nicely.

I used the main theme of the movie Suspiria, played by Goblin. I got good credit for that one!

Check out the archives for the Council of Thieves forum. This has been discussed before.

For the play in the 2nd mod, I suggest "Carina Barana" also known as O, Fortuna.

Lantern Lodge

Yeah, I looked and didn't find anything right away so I just assumed that it was either going to be difficult to find or didn't exist so I gave it a shot.

O Fortuna is perfect. That is an example of what I am looking for.
